Relaxing Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We headed up to the chalet to celebrate our anniversary, but also wanted to bring our family with us! Hands down, we all loved it, and can’t wait to go back!

The house was clean, well laid out and had plenty of space for our family of five. The game room down stairs (basement level) was a great retreat for the kids...there isn’t a bathroom on that level, so we didn’t use it for sleeping, although you could as there is a Murphy bed. The basement is well equipped with everything needed to entertain all ages!

The main level has a well appointed and cozy bedroom that was ideal for my handicap mother. The large bathroom with washer/dryer, big shower and access to the back porch was very functional. The kitchen, dining and living room where beautifully appointed, and perfectly positioned in front of the wall of windows. What a view!!!!

The master bedroom in the loft above didn’t have floor to ceiling the bedroom or bathroom. That took some getting used too, especially since the loft is shared with a third sleeping area. There was no shower in the master, however the bathtub did have a sprayer. The bedding was divine, oh so comfy, and with the bedroom doors open, you get to enjoy the views!

The outdoors is this home’s BEST feature! The decking goes all around the house and all stairways are gated, which is fabulous for kids and pets (which we’ll bring next time!). The hot tub/firepit/grilling/lounge area is where we spent most of our time. With a peak-a-boo view of the canal and the stunning surrounding trees, your eyes were constantly filled with beauty....and your ears, silence. It was so quiet and peaceful.

The chalet’s location was very convenient to nearby sites and restaurants...just be mindful of the roadway and driveway leading to the house...very steep and narrow.

Upon leaving, pay particular attention to the departure/housekeeping instructions. It was a bit of work getting the house in the requested state before leaving (this is also in addition to a good size cleaning fee), but it was a small price to pay for such a magnificent and reasonably priced getaway.

This was a glorious weekend and we can’t wait to go back soon! We’re already considering going back during the summer and the holidays! The host was superb about working with us and the special needs of our family. She was very fast to respond and on top of things! Cynthia, thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful home, we will return very soon!

Owner's Response: Joseph thank you for the glowing review. This property is a recent acquisition for us we loved it so much we are planing on retiring there. We are in the process of addressing the things that you mentioned, master bedroom wall's, and master bath shower. Also a bathroom in the game room is in the works. It will just take a little time and scheduling between rentals. As for the road well it's not that far up and I am sure you would agree a small price to pay for the beautiful views and serenity the place offers. And I know that first driveway is a steep one.we recommend our guests bypass it and go around to the second drive. Will be looking forward to your next visit. Cynthia

Overall very lovely

  • 5 of 5

The view was beautiful, patio gas fireplace was a wonderful gathering place, (we replaced a tank on day #2) hot tub was really a treat & the game room with the TV & dvd player was handy. Couple of minor challenges related to power outages × 2, although the generator immediately came on & gas appliances made the outages pretty easy for our group. We were notified after we booked the house that we were not allowed to stream music or have access to Netflix or stream movies etc. Hot tub wasn't hot enough to use until the 2nd day of our trip & the downstairs shower stopped working on the last day, but all in all, an amazing home, room to explore the wooded surroundings. Our host was very responsive to our needs. The house was very clean.

Owner's Response: Carey, Thank you for your lovely review. I am so sorry regarding the spa not being warm enough until your second day.During the winter months the area along the 101 often experiences power outages, and though the house generator keeps the house warm and the lights on it cannot Handel the draw from the spa as well. I also want to thank you on your point of view regarding the post booking information regarding the internet. We however have now rectified this issue and have upgraded the enternet and it should be able to handle streaming. We also have had TV service installed. Thank you again for your insight and lovely review.

Great Place to Enjoy Family!

  • 5 of 5

We wanted a place where we could go and enjoy family and this house had everything. Plenty of space indoors and outdoors. The covered BBQ and fit pit area was perfect. We sat by the fire pit every night and enjoyed the hot tub spa. The weather was cold and rainy the majority of the time but stopped raining long enough at night to sit in the hot tub and relax. We had a NW seafood feast on one evening where the BBQ and outdoor cooking space was awesome to have. We brought fresh salmon from home and went to HamaHama fish market (5 mins away) to get some clams to go along with the oysters we gleaned from the beach. The kitchen has just about everything but I usually bring some of my own cookware from home because the pans are usually abused and this was true here as well. There is no way you can keep decent pans for long when they don't get used properly all the time. So this is no diss to the owners! This has been the case at every VRBO we've stayed. The dishes and glasses were in great shape. Everything in the kitchen worked well.

There were plenty of movies for the kids to watch when they weren't enjoying the hot tub! There is a large room downstairs for playing games and it was a comfortable space. We were happy to have the little bed for our grandson to use and our granddaughter slept on the daybed in the loft. There was a nice murphy bed downstairs but we didn't need to use it.

Cynthia was an absolute pleasure to work with. She had the hot tub heated up for us when we arrived which was great because its a long drive from Mukilteo and from Sammamish where my kids came from. But it's a pretty drive. We absolutely will be coming back. The view was pretty but it will be even nicer in the summer. Thank you Cynthia for sharing your beautiful home with us!

The house is lovely and very remote and quiet.

  • 5 of 5

The house is big and comfortable and had everything we needed. It is very quiet lots of room for parking and the big open kitchen living room area is great for sharing time and meals with friends. The deck is huge and gated and also great for a bunch of people. The view is lovely and we could hear seals down on the water and saw an eagle fly over.

I was disappointed when I got my actual directions from the owner and discovered the house is NOT on the water, as the pictures appear, it is up a very big hill with a distant view of the water. The 4 pages of rules/directions were a bit off-putting: the threat of being charged $25 for streaming music or movies, there was NO music, a big TV with no cable only a few dvd's, this should be included for the price of the place; $250 if any pet waste was found - another dog ran through the property when we were there... I cleaned, a lot, and left in fear that we may have done something wrong and not get the deposit back; I did, thank you. I know it must be hard to trust strangers with your lovely house but I wonder if you could soften up a bit on the directions/rules. The hot tub needs some work, the knobs and valves kept popping up in the water.

All in all, if you want a private place to share with a group of friends it's awesome, and impressive beautiful home. We found chanterelles not far away at Hamma Hamma and had lovely meals, wine, hot tub, fire in the wood stove, and lots of laughs.

Owner's Response: Eva, So happy you lady's had a nice time at the chalet. Sorry about the knobs on the spa we try to keep the maintanence up between bookings and the spa is a constant one. I know the rules may seem a bit daunting to some, but unfortunately other less conscientious people that have come before you have caused them to be put in place. However that being said most of our guests have been delightful, respectful people that had nothing to worry about regarding there deposit such as you self. Regarding the streaming most of the rentals on that side of the canal have satalite internet And allowing streaming is very expensive. We are working on a remidy for this and are sorry for the inconvenience. We will also be adding satalite tv this upcoming spring. Thank you for the lovely review and insite's Cynthia

Great retreat!

  • 5 of 5

Very clean and enjoyable! We enjoyed the hot tub after a full day of hiking Murhut Falls and Duckabush Trails. The wood burning stove heated the place up quick. There were was just enough movies to help fill the evening with a glass of wine and snacks. We loved our stay and can't wait to come back to enjoy the stunning views from the hot tub and its location!
