Firstly, thank you Sauna for your 5 star review. It makes all the hard work that goes into preparing our villa worth while. We pride ourselves on the service we provide to our guests. Secondly, It was such a pleasure hosting you and your lovely family, you’re always welcome back. I’d highly recommend Sauna to any host.

My response to this review will be reasonably brief and factual as I see nothing to gain by bad mouthing anyone. This guest made enquiries prior to booking. This was just after Jamaica opened its borders again to tourism following being locked down due to COVID since March 2020. Needless to say we were only too glad to take on guests again, especially as we hadn’t had any guests during that time. To attract his business, we offered the property for a very cheap rate because the guest told us that he will be going to and fro to Jamaica due to his job and promised more future bookings with us, whenever he travelled. After agreeing a very large discount he went on to book – during the price negation we were told that the trip was for 4 people. On arrival we noted that only 2 people turned up – (we have external facing cctv camera’s for added security only) The following day a total of 4 extra persons and a toddler turned up, which meant that there were 6 persons excluding the toddler. Vrbo’s rules state that only the named persons are allowed to stay in the accommodation overnight. We bought this to the guest’s attention and we were told that the 2 extra persons will only be staying 2 nights – we explained that there is an extra cost for each night they stayed, this was not received well, but he agreed to pay. He failed to make any payments for at least 2 weeks and siting reasons like he didn’t want to join the long bank lines which was the way of life at that time due to local COVID regulations and he also stated that he had issues making the payment through his bank. Trusting his integrity, we allowed this to continue until a few days before he was due to check out – By this time alarm bells were ringing as he had been there from 25th June and it was now 16th July 2020 and he only had a few more days left for his stay. After communicating with Vrbo to see where we stood legally if the guest did'nt pay and we were advised that we were well within our rights to terminate his occupancy and retain his deposit and also claim for the additional guests. This was as result of several breaches, which including causing irreparable damaging our 3 seater sofa, chipping the wall with his suitcase on entering the property to name but a few. It was only when we served him notice to leave the property within 24hrs that he decided to make a payment to our bank account, on 17th July 2020, but by then it was too late as we'd lost all trust in this guest's integrity Throughout the whole situation we have remained completely professional and at no time harassed the guest. As far as we were aware the guest was having a great time, so much so that after a few days into his stay during an exchange of WattApp messages on 29th June that he commented how much he was enjoying his stay and this was the “Best vacation ever” and he was “Hoping to book this for the Christmas vacation”, unfortunately Vrbo’s review response does not allow uploads, but the evidence is available. Please carefully weight up this review and come to your own conclusion, but in doing so please do not let this malicious and misleading review put you off booking our beautiful well maintained property, the photo speaks for themselves. We also advertise on other platforms and on one of them we are privileged to be classified as Superhosts 4 consecutive times over and have constantly achieved their 5 start rating given to us by guests who have numbered in excess of 35 over a 2-year period. We would not have achieved any of this if our hosting abilities were as described in this guest’s review.
