Like so many people, whenever I’m lucky enough to stay in a really outstanding property, a little bit of me is always reluctant to leave a glowing review as I might never be able to book it again! Chez Lussaud is exactly that type of property.
When I booked, I was expecting somewhere comfortable and attractive where we could just escape and unwind for a week. What I hadn’t expected was just how much care and thought Meg and Mark have put into Chez Lussaud. It’s immaculate, in every sense, and completely deserving of its claim to be a luxury gite.
Outside, the beautifully kept grounds provide plenty of spots to sit and read, paint, play boules or badminton, swim, or just relax and drink in the views. In the evening, the hot tub offers the ultimate in relaxation, just gazing up at the stars.
Inside, the house is gorgeous. The high quality furnishings are what gives the house it’s luxury factor and the beds are to die for. They’re unbelievably comfortable, guaranteed to give even the worst of sleepers a good night’s sleep (and I speak as one of those sleepers ...).
While we didn’t venture too far afield on this holiday, during previous visits to the region we’ve enjoyed trips to Angouleme, the distilleries of Cognac, and, a little further afield, Bordeaux and the seaside towns of Arcachon and Pyla sur Mer, home to Europe’s largest sand dune.
The review wouldn’t be complete though without saying a huge thank-you to Meg and Mark. They were the perfect hosts in what has undoubtedly been a challenging year. Nothing was too much trouble. We really enjoyed Mark’s brief history tour of the house! We’d certainly love to come back another year, if it’s not booked out!
