Dulverton is a picturesque market town known as the 'southern gateway to Exmoor National Park', nestled between the rivers Barle and Exe in the heart of the Somerset countryside.
This charming town offers an excellent range of independent shops, a late-opening supermarket, butcher, greengrocer, post office, chemist, and a cash machine. For dining, you'll find award-winning restaurants, traditional pubs, cosy tea rooms, and a fish and chip shop ĂąâŹâ all making the most of wonderful local produce.
Exmoor House, the headquarters of the Exmoor National Park Authority, is based in Dulverton and features exhibitions and a gallery. The Guildhall Heritage and Arts Centre is well worth a visit, with free admission and fascinating exhibitions on local history including a working model of the original Dulverton railway station.
The stunning Tarr Steps ĂąâŹâ an ancient clapper bridge and one of the most iconic landmarks on Exmoor ĂąâŹâ is just five miles to the northwest. With miles of riverside walks along the Barle and Exe, woodland trails, and easy access to the open moor, Dulverton is the perfect base for exploring everything Exmoor has to offer.
