About this property
Luxury Cosy Vineyard Eco Cabin: 'The Grape Escape' near Halesworth & Southwold
The Cabin-in-the-Vines is set in the heart of an 8-acre vineyard in an idyllic corner of rural Suffolk. There is just one Cabin, a quiet, cosy space, perfectly suited for two people to unwind and relax, but able to accommodate three people comfortably. It is shaped like a giant half wine barrel, made of wood externally & internally. Insulation is Welsh sheep’s wool and indeed the Cabin was designed and manufactured by hand in Wales. It is off-grid, powered by state of the art solar panels with energy stored in batteries which can be monitored from within the Cabin.
The Cabin has a cosy bedroom with a double bed. The split doors are designed so that the view of the vines can be enjoyed from the bedroom. Some storage and hanging space is provided. The bedroom window gives a view of the unfettered night sky, and no light pollution here, so make the most of stargazing during your stay.
A separate shower room provides a shower cubicle with thermostatically controlled shower, WC, washbasin, and heated towel rail. Eco-friendly hand soap, and body wash (shower gel), are provided.
The open plan living area has a kitchen off to one side, with gas oven and hob, fridge, sink and drainer. The kitchen cabinets contain crockery, cutlery, a selection of cooking pans and utensils, an integral waste-bin, and eco-friendly cleaning materials. Washing up is a real pleasure enjoying the view out of the window!
Off to the other side of the main living area is a comfy daybed/sofa with storage drawers underneath, able to sleep one adult or child, which faces a wall-mounted TV with DVD player and radio. The living space also includes a dining table and chairs by the french doors, which open to give a relaxing view of the vineyard while you eat.
Temperature-controlled heating also makes the Cabin ideal for 12 months of the year!
We accept one well-behaved dog for £20 extra per stay or 2 dogs for £30. Please message us if you are bringing more than one dog.
There are touches of luxury and no broadband to disturb your peace… the perfect romantic getaway.
A track runs alongside the field of vines up towards the Cabin. Guests can park along this track, from whence it is a sort walk to the Cabin. If you choose to park in the vineyard car park (over the bridge), there is a 100m walk from the car park to the Cabin; a wheelbarrow is provided to help carry your luggage. There are steps leading up to the door of the cabin. The cabin is quite secluded and there are no street lights so, if possible, try and arrive in daylight. If not, remember to bring a torch!
Check-in time 3 pm-7 pm (unless by prior arrangement). Check-out at 10.30 am.
Should you wish to leave the Vineyard (!), this part of Suffolk is the Waveney Valley and beautiful country for walking/cycling/relaxing. There are two pubs within walking distance. You are a 10 minute car ride from the market town of Halesworth which is a remarkable town, boasting a Wednesday market, fine dining, alfresco cafés, vintage and antique shops, an art gallery, and The Cut arts centre with a varied programme of exhibitions and entertainment. 10 miles further east, the Latitude venue, Southwold and Walberswick with their ‘yesterday’ charm are easily accessible. Route 1 Cycleway is close by and Beccles and Bungay are both worth exploring. Oulton Broad - gateway to The Broads National Park - is 40 minutes north, while Snape Maltings, the world-famous concert hall and arts centre, set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is 32 minutes south, with the pretty coastal town of Aldeburgh just a further 11 minutes east of Snape.
Getting around - Halesworth is on the main Ipswich to Lowestoft train line, with connections from Ipswich to London, and from Lowestoft to Norwich. Should you wish to book a taxi or Uber to, for example, Latitude, do book in advance. There is a bus from Halesworth to Southwold. An OS Map or app is useful if considering cycle/walking exploration.
The cabin is self-check-in (check in yourself using the key in the coded lockbox).
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.

Such a beautful peaceful place. Cosy cabin with all that you need to recharge and rest. Adrian was very welcoming and easy to contact. Will be back again!
The cabin is on a beautiful vineyard with amazing views. We did the wine taste and tour which was really interesting and enjoyable. Thank you Adrian for being an excellent host.
A lovely hideaway! I used it as a writing retreat for the day which worked wonders!
Clean, owners are very efficient and welcoming when you arrive. Unique and perfectly comfortable. We’ve already booked to return here!

Hi Emma. We are so pleased that you found the peace and tranquility amongst the vines to help you concentrate on your writing. Thank you for being lovely guests.
Had a wonderful couple of days in this enchanting cabin which is perfectly equipped for a few days stay in a beautiful area. Unique setting amongst the vines and completely secluded and peaceful. Would recommend and would visit again.
The property was excellent, just as described and great value

Lovely couple and the perfect guests. Their communication was open and friendly and the Cabin was well looked after and left very clean and tidy. We wouldn't hesitate to host Simon again should he wish to return to the Cabin-in-the Vines.
Cute little cabin but all you need for a short stay. Very quiet, great for dog walks. Our dog would give it 6 stars. It was so relaxing to sit out on the veranda sipping wine as the sun set. Halesworth is a nice town with an EV charger at the coop and Southwold is just a short dìstance away. Our only issue was the road to the property is closed with a long detour, when approaching from the west but despite the signage it is accessible from the Halesworth direction.
Perfect ‘get away from it all’ break. We were blessed with good weather but aside from that cannot fault the accommodation and location. If you want a quiet, peaceful time and somewhere a little ‘different’ then this place is perfect. Lots of nice walks in the countryside and close to places like Halesworth and Southwold. Definitely consider going back.
This is a gorgeous place right in the vineyard and totally "off grid". It is a perfect place to go and relax for a couple of days. Adrian is a great host and we had a really interesting wine tour followed by wood fired pizzas!
There is a great pub 10 mins walk down the road called the Wissett Plough that serves lovely food.
We would thoroughly recommend the Cabin in the Vines as a Grape Escape!!

What a lovely couple Dan and Kirsty are. We enjoyed their company and conversation on the wine tour, and they looked after the Cabin as though it were their own, leaving it in perfect condition. We would have no hesitation in recommending them or hosting them again if they ever decided to return to the Cabin-in-the-Vines
My husband and I stayed here for two nights for a wedding in the nearby village. The cabin is well appointed and thoughtfully designed. Comfortable bed and the view from the little deck is stunning. Adrian was helpful and accommodating and we were sad that we didn’t have time to do a wine tour. We greatly appreciate eco tourism and will happily revisit on another trip from NYC. Loved it here.
A most wonderful log cabin named the Grape Escape set in a vineyard offering real tranquility. There is a separate bedroom, shower room and open plan lounge/ kitchen. The morning was spent on the veranda sipping coffee and listening to nature. The evening was star gazing sipping on a Pinot Cris. A great location for visiting Suffolk near Southwold
The Grape Escape is a fabulous little hideaway tucked away in the corner of the vineyard. We has a lovely quiet 2 night stay, the cabin is equipped with everything you need. Adrian came to say hello, but apart from one of his workers and a tour group that passed by we didn’t see a soul. Will definitely be back.
Just returned from a wonderful few days at the Cabin In the Vines. Perfect, countryside location with plenty of places to explore within easy reach. Absolutely loved this beautiful cabin. It was the perfect place to return to after a day out for a chilled evening watching the sun go down over the vineyard. Nicely decorated and very clean. We will definitely book again! X

Perfect guests who left the cabin clean and tidy. Highly recommended, we hope to see you again! Thankyou again for choosing to stay with us!
Cute cabin fantastic views and amazing sunrises with dear walking across the fields in the distance.Bottle of wine a great touch for those that drink white wine!No shower gel etc provided as documented!Mattress on main bed lumpy and probably needs updating, bed creaked at every turn, couldn’t use the double sofa bed in the lounge as it was broken! Tea and coffee supplies very scarce, 3 teabags for 2 people for 2 nights and very little coffee, no milk! Just as well the nearest supermarket was only 15mins away!Unable to use the shower as it was far too hot and unable to regulate! With little jobs completed and a bit more on the ‘extras’ this would be an amazing place to stay we wasn’t expecting a cupboard full of food but some extras would have been welcomed

Hello
I must apologise for the lack of tea coffee and shower gel these are meant to have been checked and I will have to make sure others are aware. The shower seems to be working upon inspection, it would have been good to have seen it when you were here.
Thank you for mentioning the day bed that has now been rectified.
I thought it best to leave a bottle of the vineyards own wine rather one from a shop.
Kind regards
Adrian
What a relaxed couple of days. Not always an easy achievement with kids and a dog! Love that this is the only property on the site with easy unsupervised check in /out. Host Adrian was super responsive an email and bumped into him to say hi. Lots to sightsee nearby and great pubs. We mostly self catered and the cabin met all our needs. Great nights sleep on comfy bed. What more could you ask for.
My partner & I wanted a a quiet relaxing weekend away and found this property by chance but so glad we did.
Accommodation set in vineyards and away from everything although a great location for surrounding areas, Southwold, Walberswick, Beccles and more.
Check in - very easy. We received communication confirming key code and that was it - smooth and easy
Check out - returned key to box and again that was it.
Accommodation - cozy & warm and perfect for a romantic weekend away. Kitchen was perfectly sized for requirements and shower/ toilet room was also perfect. The sleeping area was fine and bed was very comfortable.
I can only give this review 10/10 as no faults can be found.
I fully expect us to return again one day
A really beautiful little cabin which was nicer inside that the impression I got from the photos. Lovely smell of wood, plenty of space, well-placed velux windows to the skies, and I like that the bedroom had doors, making the place feel like a little home rather than a glamping pod.
It felt magical to wake up on a warm summer's day and look over the dew-laden grass and grapevines. So peaceful. Just the sounds of nature and their rich habitat. A highlight of my stay was witnessing a glow worm one evening.
Although the cabin is rural and fairly remote I felt safe. Lovely walks close by, and the 45 min walk into local Harleston to pick up some milk and croissants (I treated myself to an extra day) from the delis there was very pleasant.
Adrian was a kind and welcoming host, and I'd happily stay at the cabin again :)
I brought my girlfriend here and proposed to her at this cabin. The owner was very accommodating as he helped set up the proposal so it was ready upon arrival. I highly recommend staying here.
