HARO HAIKU is located on the West side of beautiful San Juan Island.

The house is nestled just below the ridge line - with 180 degree views of the Olympic mountains, the Strait of Juan de Fuca beyond, and Haro Straits immediately below. Approaching the house, you pass by our Japanese-inspired garden with a 62 year old Bonsai black pine center piece.

BE SURE TO VIEW THE PHOTOS OF THE NEW, COMPLETELY REMODELED KITCHEN AND MASTER BATH !!

Inside Haro Haiku you'll find a contemporary blend of eastern and western style and decor with a decidedly Asian attitude. The interior lets the outside in through an ingenious use of sky lights and widow placements in the exterior and interior walls.

The views are spectacular!!

From South Vancouver island, across the straits to the Olympic Mountains, Pt Townsend, Mt Rainier, and Whidbey Island it never fails to inspire and delight. Sunrises, sunsets, ship and boat traffic, the lights of Victoria, and the Olympic Peninsula, clear starry nights, cloud formations, combined with the sound of Orca whales and surf below. Truly awesome!!!

Serenity and repose on San Juan Island

About Stephanie

We have lived on San Juan Island for 26 years. We owned and operated Lakedale Resort for 18 of those. We are very knowledgeable about what to do, where to eat, and out of the way places to hike, beach or..? We can help you with reservations for activities, dining or self guided tours of the islands. Always available and close by for any assistance necessary.

Stephanie purchased this house in 2005

Why Stephanie chose San Juan Island

The location of Haro Haiku is the main reason we chose to purchase it; Located on the WEST SIDE of San Juan Island with its spectacular vistas of Haro Straits, the Olympic Mountains, easy access to Lime Kiln State Park (Whale Watch Park), Serenity of the neighborhood (None to close, but not to far), and convenient to Friday Harbor.

Property is 3 acres with lots of privacy and views.

"Hello,

I haven't had a chance to write you until now, but i just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed your lovely home. It was beyond all our expectations and we couldn't stop talking about how wonderful it was. (both the house and the location) our stay was glorious and much (or most) of that can be attributed to the haro haiku house. Thank you for your contribution to a wonderful weekend!

-Holly S.

p.s. i saw orcas from your deck!!

Absolutely Stunning

  • 5 of 5

My sister and I spent three wonderful nights at this lovely location. It is obvious that Stephanie and Jack make every effort to ensure their guests comfort. The pictures give a very accurate portrayal of the guest house. Everything is well maintained and very clean. Linens and bedding were all lovely quality and very comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped with everything needed to prepare a gourmet meal. We were pleasantly surprised by the well-stocked spice cupboard! We loved the décor and all the thoughtful little touches that made it feel like home! I was the lucky winner of the master bedroom. I slept with the blind open so that I woke up to lovely views of the straits each morning. I did let my sister use the luxurious walk in shower though!

The guest house is just a quick jaunt to the state park, Friday Harbor and other attractions. It offers all the convenience of being close to town but plenty of quiet to enjoy. Situated on site with the owner’s location, the guest house is very private and offers an unobstructed view of the straits. We enjoyed watching the ocean traffic and searching for the elusive Orca. Maybe next time they will be in the area. There was plenty of wildlife to enjoy, including busy little hummingbirds and deer. We loved sitting on the deck, enjoying late afternoon cocktails and sunsets. Being May, it was still a little cool for morning coffee on the deck but we enjoyed sitting in the living room and taking in the view.

Thanks for the much needed break. It was wonderful to recharge our batteries in your beautiful home!

Fabulous views

  • 5 of 5

Our family of five (2 adults and 3 teenage boys) stayed for four nights. The views of Haro Straight are stunning. The home is well maintained, the master bathroom looks like it was recently remodeled and it's pretty fabulous. This was our first time in the San Juan Islands and staying here was delightful and everything we expected based on the other reviews. We will return. We didn't meet Stephanie or Jack during our stay but I had their cell number should we need anything and that was fine.

Incredible views, beautiful house, perfect stay

  • 5 of 5

"This is our third time on S Juan Island and first time at Stephanie and Jack's house. As we arrived we were greeted by a beautiful black fox with a white tip. The place is breathtaking. Incredibly peaceful and quiet, other than the buzzing of hummingbirds, the whispering trees and the breaking of the waves. in the distance you see the Olympic mountains and Vancouver island. We did not spot the orcas but we did see on two mornings the porpoises frolicking in the surface. The house is beautiful and modern and equipped with all the comforts you need and beyond. Just sitting on the deck, in the evening looking at the sunset or in the morning is priceless and incredible and for that alone worth staying at this house. We will come back for sure! Wonderful Home and great location

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent a week on San Juan Island and we could not have found a better place. What a comfortable and relaxing home. Loved the master bath and the very well equipped kitchen. The deck is great for enjoying the spectacular views. We saw bald eagles, deer and orcas right from the deck. Stephanie and Jack are wonderful hosts.

quietly spectacular

A wonderful four days in a tasteful asian accented home with what must be one of the very best unobstructed views in the San Juan Islands.

Stephanie was a warm yet un-intrusive host.

Many thanks

The perfect place to stay on San Juan Islands

  • 5 of 5

My fiancé's parents from Texas were in town and we wanted to take them to enjoy some vacation time on Friday Harbor. We found Haru Haiku and immediately knew it was the perfect place.

The Host:

Stephanie is amazing and super responsive. She had everything you needed to know to enjoy your stay already laid out. If you had a question she relied immediately via email.

The Property:

Amazing, I would say it has the best views on the island. Also the state park is only a few minutes away. The interior is comparable to a 5 star hotel. You will find yourself enjoying a nice coffee and relaxing on the beautiful wood deck.

I cannot recommend this place enough and will be back for the Summer!
