Newly Listed! This quiet and cozy historic cabin, close to town, is the perfect respite for relaxation. Enjoy bird watching while sitting next to Argyle Lagoon. (SCC)

Step out of the hustle and bustle, and step back in time to true island living. Sawmill Creek Cottage is comfortable and private, but still only one mile from downtown Friday Harbor on San Juan Island. The cottage has Wi-Fi and a Smart TV for those who are so inclined.

The cabin is nestled in its own private yard just feet away from a small bay, with a stream and pond as a boundary. The shared low bank beach on Jackson’s lagoon is a small saltwater bay where you can see blue herons, kingfishers, eagles, the occasional deer or fox, and watch the moon rise bigger than life over the bay at dusk. The tidal water fluctuates, and this property has a partial water view.

The queen bedroom is cozy and comfortable, and the full bathroom is just off of the bedroom. NOTE: if a guest is sleeping on the couch, they will have to walk through the bedroom to access the bathroom.

The secluded yard offers a patio table and barbeque for the summer months. Blackberries are ripe for the picking in early autumn. In the quiet winter months, create a second honeymoon or holiday turkey memories in the snug warm cottage.

Enjoyed our week at this lovely cottage. Clean, quiet and close to town without the noise. Nice beach nearby and lots of wildlife if you are patient. Saw lots of birds and a cute fox one morning.

If you are trying to truly get away and enjoy the beauty of the Pacific Northwest, I hope you consider staying. I would recommend bringing your bikes and riding into town, driving out to the coast to spot some orca whales, stop by the alpaca farm, and enjoy some food on the waterfront. Great stay and we will certainly be visiting again!

The cherry blossom tree outside the cottage was in bloom and made for a picturesque retreat. I love how close the cottage is to town and to a great beach park! Would highly recommend. It's very clean, comfortable bed and even has a great little fire pit out back :)

We were debating if we wanted to pay extra for this vs a hotel, but it turned out to be so nice. It was very private, and had a great view of the shore (it looks sideways down the beach so you can't see out to sea, but can see water). No beach access though unfortunately. We stayed here on our honeymoon and it was the perfect size for us. It's within a 15-20 minute walk from downtown Friday harbor, which was nice because we couldn't always get an Uber in time for what we needed. We also saw some fun wildlife. Lots of birds, a few deer, and even a fox that ran through! I was always able to get ahold of management when I needed and they were very helpful.

I travel to Friday Harbor for work frequently and this little cottage have everything to make my work trips feel like home. The bed is extremely comfortable. The location is perfect (you can walk to the beach or town in 20 minutes or drive in 3-4 minutes!). The house itself is very cozy and there is often wildlife outside in the yard such as deer or the occasional cat. The little kitchen has everything you need to cook your own meals but there are also plenty of delicious restaurants in town. The cottage is always impeccably clean and well maintained. I cannot say enough good things about this little home away from home.

Cottage was as described except the bushes in the back yard have grown so the lawn is in the shade most of the day and you can only see the small part of the lagoon shown in the photo unless you walk down to the gate that says private property (to nextdoor), from where you can see the rest of the lagoon and the toilet blocks next to the ramp that the Sea Quest bioluminescence kayakers launch from. Yard was too cool to sit out in in the evenings in mid July, as no fires allowed, but the location was great for driving (or walking) into Friday Harbor and it was quiet. The kitchen was impressively stocked for its compact size and the washing machine/dryer was right there too. Bed in bedroom was super comfortable (even for me with a bad back), but 3rd person had to sleep on sofa bed that took up most of the living room when pulled out, and the blinds were translucent (and non-existent in kitchen), so only works if you don't need it dark to sleep late in the mornings.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I absolutely love this spot. I travel out to Friday Harbor for work and it really feels like my home away home. It has everything you need! It’s within walking distance of town(30min) and walking distance to a wonderful beach/park(15min). The bed is very comfortable. The shower has great pressure and plenty of hot water. The kitchen is well stocked with cookware and every appliance works well. The natural beauty of the property is wonderful and I have often seen deer in the front yard near the water. The beach in front of the cottage is only accessible at low tide but the view is nice and again, there’s a magnificent huge beach just a 15 min walk or 2 min drive. It’s the perfect spot for a solo traveler or a couple. There is even a pullout bed so maybe even 3 would be comfy! Overall, absolutely love this place and will be back soon!
