About Melanie Gowen
Melanie Gowen was born and raised in Washington, DC, but she has always had a love for coastal New England where her lifelong love for real estate began. She graduated from National Cathedral School in 2005 and from Cornell University in 2009 with a BS in Interior Design and Business Strategy. While at Cornell she studied International Marketing and Wines in Florence, Italy and was on the Sailing Team. After college, Melanie worked in financial consulting and gained experience in mortgage banking and regulatory strategy. Managing assets for clients, who often were entrepreneurs owning mulitple real estate assets, she became fascinated with the design and marketing as tools impacting the success of real estate and business. She returned to her architectural roots and founded Melanie Gowen Design, an interior design firm. When the opportunity came to work on a full-scope investment property renovation in Nantucket, Melanie followed her lifelong dream to live on an island, amongst the most beautfiul properties in the world. She especially loves the melding of historic preservation and innovative design that presents unique challenges for renovation and building. Melanie's passion for enhancing properties by incorporating marketing, design, and branding strategy into the process results in an unparalleled, personalized experience. She consults on real estate development, helping clients strategize on unique investment and design opportunities, and she can pull together the perfect team for any project. Detail-oriented and also a big picture thinker, Melanie is responsive, creative, organized, and adept at thinking both imaginatively and strategically. Melanie loves being out in nature running, hiking, tennis, sailing, fishing, or anything on the ocean. Her favorite beaches are Dionis and Quidnet, and she makes a great bluefish pate. Melanie enjoys being an active member of the community volunteering for the Nantucket Preservation Trust and other organizations.

Beautiful and Cozy
Well-appointed and immaculately furnished apartment. So close to everything in the city. We had no need for a car. This was our first time to Nantucket, for the House and Garden Tour, and I would stay stay at one of Melanie’s properties again! Thank you for being an attentive hostess.
Perfect location for this adorable apt!
The apt is adorable for a couple looking for a perfect place to explainer the town of Nantucket!
Gorgeous loft - perfect location and parking!!
Gorgeous loft, perfect location in town, private parking - couldn't ask for more. Can't wait to go back!
Thank you for being wonderful guests. We would love to have you stay at Centerloft on a return trip!
Center loft is a wonderful space. It’s beautifully decorated, in the center of town, and still has a feeling of quiet and privacy. Melanie takes care of all the details, and I felt completely pampered and luxurious during my stay. I would highly recommend it.
SO PEACEFUL right in the middle of Town!
First time to Nantucket and we weren't sure about staying downtown, fearing it would be too noisy... We were so wrong. We walked just a couple of blocks from the ferry and found Centerloft to be an oasis. The photos only tell half of the story. This apartment has a private entrance down a little side path, and once you enter the door it is one lovely surprise after another. Lots of unique details, beautifully decorated, but so comfortable. I want to move in! There is plenty of shopping and beaches within walking distance, bike paths take you all over the island, but shuttle busses are the best way to see the other villages of the island. If you really splurge, rent a Jeep and go off-road to Great Point Lighthouse. Its like a real safari...and you'll see amazing birds and seals. We even saw a whale spouting in the water. We cannot wait to return to Nantucket next season. Thank you so much for your hospitality Melanie! B&G
