About The GIllis'
Mike and Lauren Gillis are natives of Tupper Lake. Mike is retired from his position as Product Support and Service Manager for Waratah--a division of John Deere Worldwide. Mike left this position that he enjoyed immensely to assist his wife Dr. Lauren Gillis develop The Justice Center—a not-for-profit. The impetus for The Justice Center was Dr. Lauren’s work with persons struggling with serious mentally illness and substance abuse in community mental health centers, psychiatric hospitals and prisons. It was Dr. Lauren’s prison work that involved implementing different programs—such as the Behavioral Health Unit-- that eventually led her to earn a degree in clinical psychology at Antioch NE. Since Dr. Gillis completed her program in 2017, both Mike and Dr. Lauren devote their time and energies in creating alternatives to fund the vision and mission of The Justice Center, (see below about what is Unique to this property) such as The Way to Stay. Mike and Lauren began The Way to Stay in 2016, identifying special properties such as The Adirondack Lodge at the Lake where you are literally in a old-timey cabin (built in 1930s) so that our guests have a very special time with family and friends. We are as devoted to our guests as we are to those we are working for. Please feel free to contact Mike or Lauren if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions. We love to hear from our guests!
The GIllis' purchased this House in 2017
Why The GIllis' chose Tupper Lake
Dr. Gillis and her husband Michael purchased this property and a sister property "The Lakehouse" (VRBO #878743) as part of a funding strategy for the not-for-profit that we are developing. Our vision--Justice--Righting the wrongs. Our mission--to provide creative alternatives for people whose life journey has made them vulnerable to abuse, substance addiction, human trafficking, and homelessness.
What makes this House unique
