Great family beach house!

My family really enjoyed our stay at this beach house. It was clean and comfortable. The short (less than five minutes) walk to the beach was pleasant. No crossing busy roads! And the neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. The owner is very friendly and helpful. My only minor complaint was that there are only 2 showers which made things a little tricky for 7 people. But other than that We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and would stay here again!

Owner's Response: Thank you for staying at Casa Blanca. We're so glad you enjoyed your stay. We just purchased the home and realize the 3rd bathroom needs a shower stall in place of the claw foot tub. A shower will be added in the off season. Hope to see you next year!

Disappointing for what we paid

We rented this house over the week of Thanksgiving. I had realized that previous reviewers had mentioned that the house needs work but that the owner had "just bought it" and was planning to do the necessary repairs "in the off-season" but assumed that those problems must have been taken care of by now. When we arrived, it was clear that none of that work had been done. Only 1 of the 3 bathrooms had a usable shower and nearly every room had something that was crumbling or in need of repair. What's more, the downstairs bathroom was completely disgusting: a family of cockroaches seemed to be living in the bathtub, the toilet was soiled, there was rodent droppings in the drawers, etc. We arrived on Saturday night and let Jonathan know immediately. At first he acted somewhat defensive, stating that "he just bought the place" (interesting in light of the previous reviewers having said the same thing half a year before) and that "no one has been there since the summer" (which in my mind is maybe more reason to check for cleanliness and problems...no?). Also - if it has been months since the off-season began by this time and no one has been there in months, when does he plan to do all the work to fix things? When does the off-season begin if not before Thanksgiving? To his credit, he did send a cleaning crew the next day after some back and forth and we ended up having a fine week, just having to work around the shower problem and other issues, like the fact that the laundry area is open air and did not have a functioning light, so any laundry had to be done in daylight or by flashlight. The main thing is that I have been coming to Pensacola Beach for at least a week every year of my life (to visit family) and this is the worst experience we have ever had. It was maybe a red flag I should have noticed in the booking: There was a very good price originally posted for the listing and I booked it thinking I had snagged a great deal. Jonathan let me know that the first price was a mistake and I agreed to re-book at a significantly higher rate, but now I question that exchange too. All of this together has left a bad taste in my mouth. I waited a bit to write this review because I did not want negative emotions to cloud my words and I frankly do not like to write negative things, but I do think that future renters need to know what they are truly signing up for.

Owner's Response: The pleasures of owning rental property! Katherine doesn't like to write negative things. Really? Katherine contacted me and said she wanted to rent the beach house for $80 a night. I told her that I just bought the house and it wasn't for rent in the winter. I appreciated her interest and if she wanted to use the house I could give her a 30% discount off the rate but not $80 a night. I sent her the rental agreement and price. She agreed. Upon arriving at the house she complained of a dirty toilet and a roach in the tub. My first stay at the house was in August and I was the last person to use the house. The house and toilets were clean when I left. I told her I would send the cleaning crew out ASAP. Which I did and received this response from Katherine: " The bathroom is spotless now- thank you for sending them over. It will make a big difference to us. Really appreciate it." Was she looking for another rate discount or a free stay? Probably. That's the last I heard from Katherine until this awful review written 2 months after her stay. The pictures of the house are accurate. The house is cute and in a prime location. The beach is amazing and world class. My rates are below average for the area. To correct Katherine on something she knows nothing about- the house has been updated since I purchased it less than 1 year ago. Piling repairs, the entire home re-plumbed, renovated upstairs bathroom with shower, new range, fridge, paint, new exterior shower. Total cost for upgrades so far over 50,000 with more upgrades in early 2018. Katherine I wish you the best of luck next year when you visit the area.

Inside great!! Outside could use some TLC.

We had a great time in this home! Plenty of room and no one had to wait for a bathroom facility. Plenty of room to cook and eat and the outside grill was a nice touch. Outside needed some care ... yard was overgrown and lower area was pretty junky to the point we did not use for entertaining. Spent most of our time on upper balcony area for meals and get together when not at beach. Could never get cable TV to work, suspect a loose HDMI connection; however, internet connection worked very well. Overall, this home provided an excellent vacation. Thanks-you - Dave Nessel

Comfortable

We stayed at this home for a week in July and had a great vacation. This home has a few repairs that need attention, but I know the owner just recently purchased it and will take the kinks out in the off season. Overall the house met our needs and we would considered booking again. It was in a great location for us. Thanks for sharing your home with us.
