About this property

Woodland Spruce Lodge by Killin, Loch Tay

Set below the Ben Lawers and Tarmachan mountain ranges close to the spectacular Loch Tay, the self-catering cosy & compact Rowan woodland lodge is perfectly positioned within peaceful and tranquil surroundings consisting of waterfalls, streams and woodlands. Wildlife is in abundance whether it be red deer, red squirrels, birds and so much more. You may even catch a glimpse of the local ospreys and other birds of prey.

The Spruce Lodge (sleeps 4). It has a double bedroom with bathroom (shower over bath), and a sofabed in the lounge. There's space also for a travel cot for a baby if requested.

This is a very well-equipped lodge which is perfect for small families. The fully equipped kitchen has an electric oven/hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, toaster/kettle. There's a lounge area with a flat screen TV, Free sat box, DVD player and a CD player.

Outside there's a newly renovated deck area with table and chairs. This is mid-terraced south facing lodge and the views immediately from the lodge are somewhat restricted by the lodges across the courtyard. The open view at the front of the park is to the hills on the south side of Loch Tay.

Hidden costs and paper walls

The cabin itself was nice, except the walls are paper thin. You hear your neighbours all the time, you can tell which room they have moved too. Then to make things worse we had a set of neighbours who arrived in the middle of the night and were shouting. Even after banging on the wall they were still quite load. I know the property can't do much about the idiots who arrived in the night, but the walls are generally too thin. There are a lot of hidden costs such as £5 a day for electricity and £5 for a set of towels. Call me old fashioned, but I thought electricity was included in the price. And normally towels too. You cannot check in until 5pm, but the onsite managers are only available until 6pm. When we realised we needed to buy towels and electricity at 6:20pm, this did cause a panic. Luckily they were still there to help us. (I get the impression they help outside those hours, but it was a panic when we read they wouldn't be there after 6).

Perfect stay

Me and my partner had a wonderful stay. The lodge had everything we needed and more, the attention to detail was fab very clean and tidy lodge with lots of outdoor space on the grounds to explore. The check in/out process was quick and easy and there was always someone on site if needed. We had great stay and will definitely be returning soon.

Lovely lodge in a beautiful setting

Thanks so much for having us, we had a great time and it was good to have lots of space. The surrounding walks and suggested routes supplied were beautiful, as is Killin itself. Only thing is that the power to the lodge is paid for in addition to the cost of accommodation, and of course guests should clean up after themselves, which we did, but I believe the onus should be on the hosts to ensure the cleaning is done to a high standard especially during a pandemic, not on the guests themselves. Overall though, it was a great stay and the host who came to see us was really lovely

4 day break away

Great location and walks for the dog , just a pity there was not a path / walkway into Killin possibly through the woods or down the side of the golf coarse , but overall enjoyed our stay , will go back again .
