Simon and family group were very respectful guests and we'd definitely let to them again. They adhered to house rules and tidied away, put things back in the right places, emptied bins etc so excellent all round
Perfect cottage (Oak) for extended family aged 12-82! Layout could not have been better and allowed for multiple activities to take place simultaneously, keeping everyone happy whilst all ‘together’. Spacious, well equipped, immaculate and cozy with stunning garden (ideal for Easter egg hunt!). Great location too.

Great family house, very well stocked with everything you could possibly need. Nice and clean. Great communication. We didn’t realise there was not direct access to the garden, this was our only disappointment, but everything else was great.

We booked the property to celebrate a family birthday. The house has everything you would need. It is tastefully furnished but at the same time very practical. Very cozy, spacious and comfortable. Plenty of space for everyone. We had a great time exploring the local area, although we know Devon quite well anyway, its always nice to experience different areas.

Thank you for your review. We are disappointed that you gave Oak only 3* it seems you really enjoyed the cottage and it was the roads that concerned you. The roads in this part of the country are quite narrow at times and this is well known, but they can be safely managed as most guests find.

Excellent property for a large family group.
Spacious, clean, very well equipped, super new kitchen, warm and cosy, modern bathrooms. Handy having Simon nearby for any questions and local advice. Location ideal for easy access to many beaches in this lovely part of South Devon. We were a party of 8 including two little children and a dog and this property was just what we wanted for our October week away.

Thank you David for your comments - the refurbishment of the house in 2015 has really been appreciated by all our guests since then and I am glad the space and facilities worked well for your 3 generations.
As you rightly point out it is a huge bonus for us and our guests to have Simon (the caretaker) on hand as he is an expert in everything to do with the local area.
We do hope we can welcome you and the family back again sometime. With kind regards, Jude.

Lovely family orientated place to stay
This is our second year at Oak cottage and we think the place is amazing! They have done some lovely improvements over the last year and now the kitchen and bathrooms are of a really good quality. The house is fully equipped for 12 people with masses of kitchen equipment and pretty much everything you could need. We hope to return again with our family next year!

Thank you so much for your lovely review Wendy. As returning guests we are delighted that you and the family enjoyed your stay and appreciated the improvements that we have made over the winter - our aim was to provide a lovely, comfortable and well equipped home from home for our guests which we seem to have achieved. We look forward very much to having you all back again soon. Jude
We (a group of 6) had a lovely time here - we especially loved the attention to detail, cleanliness and a genuine sense that our hosts cared about every little thing. For the South Hams, this property was relatively centrally located, with easy access to all the locations and attractions in the area. Thank you so much!

This cottage is more spacious than it looks. We had a family Christmas together and there was plenty of space for everyone and lots if different areas to spend time in. The cottage is extremely well equipped, and we cooked Christmas dinner. There is a garden area, but it is not directly outside the cottage, it is a large area and our grandchildren had a lot of fun playing in it. All beds were comfortable with clean linen. We know the area well and the cottage is 2 miles from Slapton village which is very pretty. The owners were very helpful and communiwith them was good. All in all we would recommend.

Superb cottage for a celebratory family holiday.
We spent a splendid week at Oak Cottage with all the family celebrating our Ruby Wedding (3 couples and 2 toddlers). The cottage exceeded our expectations - spacious, and extremely well equipped. It has been thoughtfully refurbished, well maintained and cleaned.
The caretaker was always on hand and very helpful, looking after us well.
Even though the weather was mixed the area is lovely with plenty for everyone to enjoy and explore - beaches, boats, steam train, zoo, walks and towns and villages to visit.
We found a good choice of pubs, restaurants and takeaways within a 25 minute radius.
We highly recommend this property and would certainly revisit ourselves.

Thank you very much Sue and Terry for taking the trouble to leave a great review of your stay at Oak Cottage, we are very pleased that the house 'exceeded expectations' - just the reaction we hope for and usually get!
We are delighted that you were able to celebrate your Ruby Wedding anniversary with the family in our cottage and that it worked well for all your party - we do have quite a lot of family celebrations there and it is lovely to think that people will think fondly of Oak when they look back at those special occasions.
We very much hope to welcome you back again sometime in the future.
With kindest regards, Jude.
We stayed here for a week with our 3 children, their parners and 4 grand children, making a party of 12.
The house was amazing, from a very well equipped kitchen, lovely bedrooms and relaxing seating areas, all beautifully decorated. There was a large garden, (athough the little ones needed supervision as there are two large ponds), and a lovely courtyard seating area. A very well stocked under stairs cupboard with windbreak, chairs, parasol etc for the beach. Also games, and a pool/table tennis table. We were lucky not to need them, but very useful if the weather not good.
The area is perfect for a seaside holiday, we were lucky enough to have gorgeous weather, and visited Tor Cross, Bantham, Blackpool Sands and Bigbury.Nearby Dartmouth and Kingsbridge also.
Highly recommend, a lovely property and good communication wth owner.

Thank you, Kevin for such a delightful and detailed response. We are so pleased that you had a lovely time and that you enjoyed Oak cottage so much. We worked so hard this year to decorate and to get new carpets throughout, so it is really rewarding to hear how much you appreciated our place. Thank you too for leaving the house in such a lovely condition which the cleaners remarked on. You will be most welcome back anytime.
Very best wishes

Huge country cottage with remarkable amount of "extras". The caretaker actually brought in my grocery delivery( which was very early) and put freezer items away. Greeted with fresh flowers and M&S biscuits, sparkling clean. Toys for the toddlers, amazing BBQ on the property and a rolling garden with baby ducks for the kids to see. We had 12 people who were all very comfortable and plenty of dishes glasses etc for everyone. Beautifully decorated cottage which looks small on the outside but is literally a tardis on the inside. We loved every minute - even in the rain. Beaches and grocery stores in an easy drive. Slow , very narrow country lanes - so add time to journey time if going out and about. Memories for a lifetime !!

Oak Cottage, Buckland Court
Perfect half-term week for 6 adults and 5 children. All the facilities needed for the whole party, although one minor glitch - shower in master bedroom takes time for water to empty. Gets close to overflowing. That said, everything else in the property was great. Spent time in Dartmouth, did steam train ride to Paignton from Kingsweir, walked part of the SW coastal path, visited Salcombe (very pretty place), and walked and used the pubs in Slapton and Beesands. A great week enjoyed by all. Driving the roads around the immediate vicinity is a challenge - all single track with passing spaces. Met plenty of vans, lorries, tractors and Chelsea tractors.

Hi Brian,
Thank you so much for your review, we are delighted that you found the cottage provided everything you needed for your large family group over the half term week in Devon - sounds like you really made the most of getting out and about - there is so much to see and do in the area.
Thank you very much for letting me know about the shower - no one had mentioned it before so I was unaware there was a problem -we will get the plumber in this week and make sure the shower is draining well again.
We do hope we can welcome you and the family back sometime.

Fabulous House for Devon Group Getaway
Returned recently from a fabulous weekend in Devon with a group of friends. Oak Cottage was the perfect venue for us - 5 couples were comfortably accommodated with lots of room to spread around so we didn't feel on top of each other at any point. The house has obviously been recently refurbished and has a wonderful and extremely well equipped kitchen diner which was perfect for hosting a celebration birthday dinner. Some of us are keen bridge players and it was great to be able to sit round a separate table in the sitting room for this. The menfolk also enjoyed snooker and table football on the 6' games table in the area just off the kitchen. The cottage is part of a bigger complex set in extensive attractive communal grounds and we were thrilled to see the baby owls being reared by Simon, the onsite caretaker. We were very close to that beautiful area of the Devon coast around Dartmouth and Slapton Sands and enjoyed some lovely coastal walks as well as a great meal at the Start Bay Inn. All in all a great place to enjoy a weekend or longer with friends and family.

Thank you so much for your great review - we are thrilled that you enjoyed your stay and felt that the cottage really worked well for your group of 10. We have worked hard to make it stylish, comfortable and well equipped for a realistic price and your review suggests we have achieved that. We are definitely finding that more and more people are enjoying good value out of season weekend breaks as you and your friends have. We really look forward to welcoming you again to Oak Cottage and this beautiful part of Devon.
With kind regards, Jude.
The holiday at Oak Cottage was lovely. The accommodation is very well maintained, clean and excellently furnished. There were ten of us and there was enough space for everyone. The meals could be prepared and eaten together without any problems. In the kitchen, two refrigerators offered enough space for supplies. The living room furnishings allowed you to play at a table, read or talk in comfortable sofas and watch a movie in the TV corner all at the same time. Spacious bedrooms and bathrooms rounded off the good overall impression. There was also enough space to play in the outdoor area and parking was also possible without any problems. In addition, the hosts have lovingly summarized everything important about accommodation, travel and surroundings in three documents, which we were sent to prepare for the trip. However, there is a small drop of bitterness for German holidaymakers. The roads in the area within a radius of about 5km are sometimes very narrow, typical for the country, but always offer alternative options. This takes some getting used to, especially with a left-hand drive car in left-hand traffic, which sometimes makes it difficult to see into the next curve. Nevertheless, we would like to come back, if it weren't for the long journey, which is more than justified by the accommodation and the beautiful landscape and the many idyllic villages.

Hi Martin
Vielen Dank, wir freuen uns sehr, dass Sie Ihren Urlaub im Oak Cottage genossen haben.
Thank you for such a detailed and generous review. It is lovely to hear that guests have appreciated the efforts we make to ensure they have a good stay.
As for the roads .. they are narrow in some places and it may be more difficult for someone using a left-hand drive car but we're glad it didn't spoil your holiday.
Best wishes Alan and Karen
We had a great time in Oak. Everything Karen said about the property was how it was in reality - the photos dont do it justice. We had a gentle lead up to the holiday with a nice conversation from Karen as to the weather and what to do when in Devon. Always on hand and never intrusive.
The property itself was deceptively large especially with the games room. The pool table was a hit. The parking was spacious - certainly when compared to London. The kitchen was well equipped with two fridges and plenty of storage and loads of utensils. The decor was modern, clean, welcoming and comfortable. The gardens were relaxing and we tried the BBQ pits which also worked very well.
Karen and team had done a great job to ensure we would have a good time - we did. The beds were dreamily comfortable with ample pillows and light duvets.
The proximity to the beaches and other attractions was good - the lanes are, without a doubt, narrow and you have to go slowly and be prepared to back - frequently.
Dartmouth was handy for shopping with a super Sainsburys and Lidl + fuel.
Thank you.
A lovely property in a quiet part of the Devon countryside. It is set with a few other properties in a converted barn on the grounds of a larger house. There were 3 families in our group consisting of a baby, children and adults. The house itself was well equipped for all ages. The kids loved the garden as well as the pool/table tennis. There was plenty of space inside to spread out.
The host was really helpful and even called to check our needs before we arrived.
Beware of the narrow lanes in the area! The house was a 10 minute drive from the coast and there were some lovely walks. We also took trips to Dartmouth and Totnes.
All in all, a lovely place to stay! Thank you.
I booked the cottage for family to celebrate my 60th birthday. The property was perfect to suit all age ranges with lots of space for the family to spend time together comfortably.

Our guests left the place in great shape, very clean and tidy and no evidence of the dogs who'd stayed over the weekend. This is always a bonus for us owners, as although we welcome well behaved dogs, we are always delighted when the renters adhere to the house rules on pets, so thank you very much & we are glad you enjoyed sharing your birthday with your family in Oak
We had a lovely time at Karens cottage, she was an excellent host who was very responsive and highly communicative. We couldnt have asked for more.

What makes this property unique
Oak Cottage is in a quiet rural setting with other converted cottages. The cottage is very spacious and well equipped and the beautiful 1.5 acre communal garden is there to be enjoyed by everyone complete with brick built BBQ and picnic tables.
The games area at the cottage is very popular and there is plenty of other space to spread out and relax. The large kitchen with table and seating for 14 is the hub of the house and gets lots of compliments.
While you do need a car you are never far from stunning beaches, fabulous walking, golf, shops, pubs and restaurants and there are plenty of other activities on offer.
