About this property
No.19 - 2 Bed Cottage on SW Coastal path-Outstanding Harbour Views & Parking
Sleeps 2 - 4, close to beaches, SW coastal path and many local attractions
Number 19 has a wonderful location on Polkirt Hill overlooking Mevagissey's bustling harbour and beach.
The historic port of Mevagissey with its distinctive twin harbour is a small, unspoilt fishing village, once the centre of Cornwall’s pilchard industry.
It is still very much a busy working harbour and surrounded by narrow, winding streets, full of cafes, pubs, restaurants, shops and galleries.
Close to the South West Coastal Path and several sandy beaches, it is perfect for a family holiday, walking trip, short break or to celebrate a special occasion such as a honeymoon or anniversary. Previous guests have also used the cottage for a longer stay as a base for touring Cornwall.
Ideally situated to visit Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan, boat trips, ferry to Fowey, fishing etc
A short stroll down the street takes you to the heart of the village with its wonderful shops, pubs, restaurants and cafes. The cottage does have a well-equipped kitchen for your comfort, with dining table and seating for 4 but with all that is on offer in the village you probably won't want to cook!
The Property:
The cottage has 2 large bedrooms (1 double and 1 twin) and sleeps up to 4 adults. Both bedrooms have window seats so you can enjoy the spectacular views of the harbour and out to sea.
The Master Bedroom has a comfy armchair next to one of the windows so you can watch the world go by. There is also digital TV with Netflix included.
The Second Bedroom is reached through a door at the top of the main staircase, where a second staircase takes you to the large attic bedroom. With both rear and front dormer windows this twin bedded room is light and airy with outstanding views of the harbour, the lighthouse and out to sea.
Spacious Bathroom: bath with handheld shower attachment and a large walk-in shower cubicle with both overhead and handheld shower fittings.
The Living Room has comfy armchairs, sofa and digital TV with Netflix included.
Free wireless internet access throughout the cottage.
Outside:
We have an outside seating area at the rear of the property with table & chairs and retractable washing line. There is also a water tap for washing off sand after trips to the beach.

The house was lovely and the view fantastic!!
Unfortunately the weather was quite cold so that I always had to contact the proprietor to Al for some heating - it worked but was bit of. hassle.
Otherwise perfect !
Everything we read about the cottage from the views, comfort and facilities available were excellent and very true
First time visit to Cornwall for my wife and I don't know why? as we are in our late seventies. We thought the hill maybe pushing us but it was no problem as the cottage was quite near all the shopping and restaurants etc
We had a great stay, despite the shocking weather that weekend! The cottage is lovely and cosy with such great views over the harbour. A few steps to the village and some nice shops and eateries. Lou was always available to respond to any queries. Definitely want to return again, hopefully with a bit of sunshine next time!
Overall the apartment was well equipped and the position overlooking the apartment was spectacular. To wake each morning with the sun streaming into the bedroom and overlooking the harbour was a delight
A very nice cottage within easy walking distance of the centre of Mevagissey. The trade off is that parking has to be in the car park a 6 minute walk away - but we knew this and it was not a problem. It was possible to stop briefly in a pull-in area a few yards up the hill to load and unload the car.
The accommodation was fine with good views of the harbour from both bedrooms. The lounge was comfortable, but we did have poor TV reception on one evening and had to switch off.
Bathroom and shower were very good.
The kitchen was bright and modern ( we did find the oven and hobs not the easiest to operate and the instructions seemed not to relate to the exact model we had.
Had we been a party of four, the number of water and wine glasses was limited. I would have liked a grinder for coffee beans as I had brought some with me and was not able to use them.
Very minor points (which are intended to be helpful) - a few extra hooks on doors for dressing gowns, towels in the bathroom etc would have been useful.
The main criticism was the remote system used for controlling the heating in the cottage. We did have to contact the owner twice when we felt the cottage was too cold so that it could be remotely adjusted. It would have been nice to be trusted to use the heating sensibly with settings we felt comfortable with.
Our overall impression was good - just a few minor tweaks could improve it further.
I hope these comments are useful, both to the owner and prospective renters.
We really enjoyed our stay in Mevagissey, it's a great location where you can watch the harbour at work. We also reached our step count each day as an added bonus grabbing a coffee on the way to get to the car.
What a great property over looking the harbour. The property was spotlessly clean and modern and bright. Amazing views from both bedrooms and an easy 2 min walk to the shops and restaurants. We wanted a relaxing time not doing much so didn’t make the most of the great walks from the front door but from what we could see there were lots of walkers. There is no parking at the property but it wasn’t a problem to unload right outside the front door and the park the car in the car park with a permit. You don’t need your car if you are staying in mevagissy as everything is within walking distance. The car park is a pleasant 5 minute walk when you do venture out. I was a bit worried initally about leaving our car in a public car park but soon realised there are plenty of cars parked there overnight and I guess residents park there too as most of the cottages do not have parking. We realised on our last day the boats trips had started for the season and didn’t have time to do one, so will have to come back to do the glass bottomed boat trip. We had a lovely time even my sixteen year old said she will miss waking up looking at the harbour! Great house and Lou is a fantastic host
This is our second visit to no. 19. We had a wonderful stay, everything we needed was provided. The only downside was leaving..😁
We thoroughly recommend you and your beautiful cottage.
We even managed to see the seals in the harbour.
A lovely house with amazing views. We spent a lot of our time sitting in the main bedroom (best views) watching the tide and boats go in and out.
For hiking/running, the Coastal path is on your doorstep with steep climbs, hidden beaches and amazing views.
Tip for unloading your car: park in the main carpark and just take whatever you need that afternoon. After shop closure and people have gone, the road is much quieter and easier/more relaxed to unload car.
We have just returned from a lovely week in sunny Mevagissey. The house is in a brilliant location with amazing views over the little harbour. The kitchen is brilliantly equipped, spacious bathroom with a brilliant shower, 2 generous sized bedrooms with comfortable beds and nice sheets and towels etc. The house has a very friendly, homely feel. There are many good places to eat within a short walk of the property. There are also many places to visit and activities within a close proximity. Highly recommend and we hope to go back soon! Thank you so much for a wonderful week!
The house was excellent, a short walk to the shops or 40 steps to the quay. Newly decorated, well equipped with fantastic views over the harbour. Thoroughly enjoyed every day
What a wonderful place to stay!!!!! Everything on your doorstep and a cracking property as well. Louise is brilliant at communicating and would highly recommend.
We very much liked this property.
The views over the harbour from 1st floor and 2nd floor bedrooms were just amazing .
We took it in turns to sit in the armchair in first floor bedroom.
(Be good to have another armchair in window !)
We didn't use downstairs living room as views from upstairs so good.
Kitchen very well equipped .
Location of house in relation to shops/restaurants excellent.
The outside sitting space was smaller than we had realised from photo , and we didn't use it, but it's a sun trap in the morning.
Shower really good!!
Bathroom very good.
Only real difficulty is the business of the one way system which we didn't know about in advance. Bit of a palaver/stress on arrival trying to unload . I suppose everywhere is the same in Mevagissey in this respect.
We would definitely recommend this property.
A thoroughly enjoyable holiday!
