Le Pietraie is a stone-walled farmhouse first built in 1600's, surrounded by a wonderful garden full of many typical and rare plants and shrubs, lovely at all times of year.
Olivo is an apartment isolated from the others, with a large terrace and a private garden among the olive trees. It has a large kitchen with table and chairs, a spacious bedroom with a double bed and a sofa bed for two people, a bathroom covered with white Carrara and yellow Siena marble. (55m2)

The house nestles in the beautiful Peacock Valley (Val di Pavone), encircled by fine woodlands, hills and meadows, and is like a terrace on the valley. The valley is home to a wide variety of animals, birds, butterflies and rare wild plants: snowdrops, hellebore, anemone, narcissus, cyclamen, wild orchids, primrose, brooms, wild cherry trees and arbutus unedo to name just a few. The Pietraia lies 300 m from the Peacock River (Pavone) where it is possible to bath, to swim, to make long walks in a wonderful canyon until you reach the confluence with the Cecina River. On our website you can see more photos of the garden, the Valley, the hills around Le Pietraie. The owners live on the first floor. They speak English,German, French and Italian. In case of health problems an English speaking family doctor is nearby.

Cities of art – thermal baths: According to the UNESCO, 60% of World's Heritage is concentrated in Italy, half of which is to be found in Florence alone! Florence is one hour from Montecastelli, Pisa 80 minutes, Volterra 40 minutes, Siena 40 minutes, San Gimignano 40 minutes, Colle Val d'Elsa 25 minutes, Lucca 1 hour 45 minutes, Castelnuovo Val di Cecina 15 minutes, Montecastelli 5 minutes, not forgetting the little discovered gem of Massa Marittima,45 minutes. But remember: the lesser known Medieval and Etruscan towns of Tuscany hold its real charm and beauty. Hundreds of churches, museums, art galleries, buildings, as well as street markets, shops and restaurants, hidden in narrow streets of little villages, are waiting for you to discover and explore them. Very old and beautiful thermal baths were you can relax yourself are 20 to 90 minutes far: Sasso Pisano, Bagno Vignoni, Petriolo, Casciana Terme, Venturina.



Tuscan wines, Tuscan olive oil, chestnuts: Around Montecastelli it is possible to find high quality wines at really reasonable prices, in Castelnuovo VC (15 minutes) there is a good Enoteca. Montalcino with its Brunello and Rosso is not far. It is possible to buy good olive oil in many villages. In Castelnuovo Val di Cecina there is in October a chestnut fair. In San Gimignano there is in November a Festival for finest olive oils (olio extra vergine). In Volterra you can find the local white truffles. During the early spring you can find wild asparagus along the paths. Three good local restaurants at very reasonable prices are 5 minutes from Le Pietraie, many others are in the nearby villages.

toller entspannter Urlaub

Olivia war eine wunderschöne kleine Ferienwohnung in einem liebevoll angelegten Garten mit englischen Rosen, riesigen Salbeibüschen, Olivenbäumen, Das Grundstück ist von Schafweiden umgeben und sehr ruhig. Wir haben uns sehr wohl und willkommen gefühlt, Nedda ist eine tolle Gastgeberin. Immer hilfsbereit und wir konnten uns sogar Salat aus ihrem Garten nehmen. Unser Hund Balou hat sich auch sehr wohl gefühlt und mit Neddas Hund gut verstanden. Vielen Dank

Domizil mitten im Grünen

Wir haben 10 Tage bei Nedda verbracht. Obwohl das Wetter nicht immer mitgespielt hat, war es ein wunderschöner Aufenthalt. In der Unterkunft haben wir alles gefunden was wir für unseren Urlaub gebraucht haben. Rund herum findet sich ein wunderschön gepflegter Garten. Die Kommunikation mit Nedda verlief immer freundlich, schnell und reibungslos.

Erholsamer toskanischer Ruhepol

Wir hatten bei unserem 12-tägigen Aufenthalt alles, was das Herz begehrt. Die Wohnung war perfekt für uns als Paar und die Küche gut ausgestattet, der Garten mit Sitz- und Essmöglichkeiten wunderbar. Die Lage ist sehr ruhig, sodass man einen sehr entspannten Urlaub verbringen kann. Trotzdem sind Supermarkt, lokale Geschäfte und Restaurants etc in der Nähe. Auch Trips nach Siena, Volterra und sogar zum Meer sind mit dem Auto entspannt möglich. Insgesamt hatten wir einen wunderbaren Toskana-Urlaub, den wir jedem empfehlen können, der die Seele baumeln lassen will.

Beautiful and rustic

Our stay was wonderful, it was relaxing and peaceful, and with just a drive thru the beautiful countryside you could do just about anything you wanted. Great restaurants, winery’s , tourist stuff. We had a long trip in, Nedda made restaurant reservations for us just a short distant away. There we were in a hill top on on the balcony with a view of all views. Thank you Nedda for opening your property to us.

Wunderschönes Plätzchen

Dieses kleine, liebevoll eingerichtete Häuschen ist genauso entzückend, wie wir es uns anhand der Bilder erwartet hatten. Ein wunderbarer Ort um zur Ruhe zu kommen und die Seele baumeln zu lassen. Eine ausgesprochen nette Gastfamilie mit viel Feingefühl bezüglich passender Nähe und Distanz. Und dieser Garten….!! Trotz Hitzeperiode und Wassermangel immer noch ein Traum! Hund und Katz - alles vorhanden. Ein nächstes Mal im Frühjahr oder Herbst - auch wenn die dicken Mauern des Häuschens uns recht gut vor der Hitze schützen konnten. Jedenfalls ein äußerst empfehlenswerter Ort für Entspannung pur! Nedda und ihrer Familie herzlichen Dank!! LG Claudia und Frederik

Wunderbare Zweisamkeit

Dieses entzückende Häuschen ist wunderschön. Liegt einsam in der Natur. Perfekt für Paare die Zweisamkeit suchen. Auch wenn man jederzeit in Kontakt mit den Vermietern kommen kann. Der Garten ist wunderschön. Harmonie pur. Wenn man dann noch erfährt, dass die „Atommeiler“ von einem geothermischen Kraftwerk sind und eine der umweltfreundlichsten Stromquellen, dann ist die Welt wieder in Ordnung. Absolute Empfehlung für Ruhesuchende. Ob alleine oder zu Zweit. Hausfrau spricht sehr gut deutsch und englisch. Ein Genussurlaub.

Excellent location for touring Tuscany

Lovely property and lovely people who were very welcoming and helpful. My stay was cut short due to work demands, but I was also tripped up by hot weather and discovering the area was not as rich in hiking trails as I had thought. Convenient location to visit Siena, Florence, Pisa and beaches but I had been to those places before. I was also supposed to be accompanied, which was annulled by the Covid crisis, and a 40-60 min drive to more interesting sites for tourism and recreation had thus lost much of its appeal. The house and garden are nevertheless wonderful, and I would go again if accompanied and during a different season of the year.

Einfach nur Wunderschön

Die Toskana erleben in alles Facetten! Das zentral gelegene wunderschöne Domizil lässt es zu alle Sehenswerten Städte und Orte gut und schnell zu erreichen! Das Appartment ist traumhaft und absolut ruhig gelegen! Privatsphäre und entschleunigung Pur! Absolute Empfehlung! Sehr freundliche Eigentümer und total saubere Räumlichkeiten! Erholung in den toskanischen Bergen

Wir haben eine Woche im „Olivo“ verbracht und wurden hier herzlich empfangen, auch von Buk, dem lieben Hund. Das Appartement ist ausreichend groß und zweckmäßig (dem Preis-Leistungsverhältnis entsprechend ) eingerichtet. Wünschenswert wäre ein bisschen mehr Sauberkeit sowie eine etwas bessere technische Ausstattung gewesen. Auch wenn es kein Hauptkriterium für den Urlaub darstellte, so ist es vielleicht doch gut zu wissen, dass es kein deutsches Fernsehprogramm gab. Besonders genossen haben wir die wunderschöne Terrasse und den Gartenteil mit den Liegen. Auf individuelle Fragen oder Anliegen (z.B. die sehr harte Matratze) wurde durch Nedda umgehend eingegangen und Abhilfe geschaffen. Auch bei Krankheit wurde uns geholfen und wir haben uns sehr gut umsorgt gefühlt. Vielen lieben Dank dafür! Die Lage des Hauses ist zwar etwas abseits, allerdings liegt es dafür mitten in der Natur und bietet eine wundervolle Ruhe, die uns gut getan hat. Das Haus hat eine super Ausgangslage: Orte wie Siena oder San Gimignano waren in 1 Std. zu erreichen. Wir können die Unterkunft all denen empfehlen, die gern in der Natur sind und Ruhe und Erholung in ländlicher Umgebung wünschen.

Urlaub bei Freunden

Unser zweiwöchiger Aufenthalt bei Nedda war sehr erholsam. Sie und Ihre Familie sind sehr um das Wohl Ihrer Gäste bemüht, dabei sind sie aber sehr zurückhaltend. Kleinere Wünsche werden sofort erledigt. Das Grundstück und die Lage sind ein Traum. Entweder alleine oder mit Tips von Nedda lässt sich viel erleben. Die großen Sehenswürdigkeiten sind alle rund eine Stunde Fahrzeit entfernt, sowie auch das Meer. Einkaufsmöglichkeiten gibt es reichlich, allerdings sind diese überwiegend nur mit dem Auto oder Fahrrad zu erreichen. Der Aufenthalt in Montecastelli, speziell bei Nedda, ist wie Urlaub bei Freunden nur unkomplizierter.

Schönes Haus in ruhiger Lage mit tollem Garten

Das Haus Olive ist toll mit Garten in sehr ruhiger Lage. Wir und unsere Kinder haben die Zeit sehr genossen - auch Nedda und ihre Familie waren sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Im Vorfeld war uns nicht ganz klar, dass wir für jede Strecke ein Auto benötigen, aber auch daran haben wir uns gewöhnt.

Schöner Rückzugsort

Wir haben das schöne Steinhaus Olivo und den Garten sehr genossen. Zum Häuschen gehört ein kleines Stück Rasen, Bestandteil eines größeren Gartens, in dem wir unter Olivenbäumen sehr entspannt haben. Die Küche ist vollständig eingerichtet mit tollem Herd. Die Vermieterin ist sehr nett und je nach Jahreszeit sehr großzügig mit den Erträgen aus ihrem Garten Die Zufahrt zum Haus ist etwas ruppig, aber machbar. Der nächste Supermarkt ist mit dem Auto 15 min. vom Haus entfernt. Eine definitive Empfehlung für Menschen die gerne abends auf der Terasse mit schönem Blick in die Landschaft den Tag ausklingen lassen.

Wir wurden sehr freundlich von Nedda am Tor begrüßt und sie hat uns den wunderschönen Garten und unser Haus gezeigt. Sie hatte auch während unseres Aufenthaltes viele praktische Tipps für uns. Meine Kinder waren von Buck, dem Hund und den Gumpen im nahen Fluss absolut begeistert. Wir hatten eine tolle Woche mit einer schönen Mischung aus Sightseeing und Erholung im Garten und im nahen Fluss verbracht.

Magical Place

We had an amazing 4 nights at this property! Beautiful home and magical garden with the typical Tuscan charm and view we were hoping for. Our hosts, Nedda and her family, were so welcoming and made us feel at home. We highly recommend this gem!!! PS: make it down to the Pavone river and go for a swim... so worth it.

Truly Amazing, Truly Tuscan Experience

We stayed in Olivo (best of their three properties) for a week in October and it exceeded our expectations in every way. We were looking for a quaint and traditional Tuscan experience in the countryside and this place delivered. While not fancy, it is an amazing little cottage with the nicest family in the world running it. It is in the heart of the Tuscan countryside with a number of small villages nearby for exploring and Siena, Volterra and San Gimignano all within an hour (Florence about an hour and 20 minutes). We took evening strolls, cooked dinners, and sat and drank wine on the bench in our private garden, which just happens to be next an actual garden that Nedda and Gionatan graciously shared with us. Our hosts even took us to a couple private tours of boutique wineries. The entire family was beyond amazing. If you are looking for a true Tuscan experience where you can relax, enjoy the views and do some exploring, this is your place.

The most exquisite location and perfect little cottage

When you pull through the gates, the scene is everything you would imagine Tuscany to be. The fragrance of rosemary and grapes, the flowers and vegetable garden, the distant rolling hills — it is calming and serene. We love the proprietors — extremely friendly. And it is the FIRST rental that was as perfectly furnished as its old world exterior. We loved every minute and especially loved Buck the shepherd. Wonderful!

Wunderschön gelegenes Bauernhaus im toskanischen Stil.

Haben dort sehr schöne Ferien verlebt. Herrliches Anwesen, liebenswerte Gastgeber, die uns stets mit Rat und Tat zur Seite standen. Ein kleines Paradies und die Wohnung Olivio war ein Teil davon. Aus dem Garten wurden wir mit frischen Tomaten versorgt, der Vermieter schenkte uns köstlichen Wein. Selbst im Krankheitsfall wurden wir medizinisch versorgt. Insgesamt ein wunderschönes Domizil mit traumhaftem Garten, den wir benutzen durften und einem Blick der weit über die Landschaft der Toskana reichte.

I couldn’t recommend this place highly enough!

Oh my goodness me - this is the place I’ve been waiting all my life for! The accommodation is delightful, the garden is huge and so well maintained. Nedda had it professionally designed and it all flows beautifully. (Full access to the garden). We went with our dog and she loved the garden. We stayed during the World Cup and enjoyed watching the matches from the patio, with a glass of red. The owners are wonderful, friendly, hospitable and helpful while also respecting the space. The surrounding area is quiet rural Italy. There’s a hamlet/village 1.5 miles away with 2 restaurants and another village about the same distance the other way which is a bit bigger. Pisa is 1.5 hours away and Siena is 50 minutes. There’s a fabulous river about a 20 minute drive which is great for swimming (our dog learned to swim there!) and there’s a smaller river at the end of the driveway. The drive is pretty steep but very manageable. I would 100% recommend this beautiful place for a relaxing vacation. We’ll DEFINITELY be back!
