Cosy Cottage with all year indoor pool, set in 9 acres of garden, amazing views
You'll love the cottagey feel of Woodside Cottage - original beams, stone flanked windows and two cosy bedrooms - all with far stunning, reaching views - and set within 9 acres of gardens.
There's a footpath directly from the cottage down to Rowsley where you will find the famous Peacock Hotel and The Grouse and Claret, too - plus the Chatsworth Kitchen (delicious lunches) and beyond - and plenty of walking guides in the cottage too. Famous Chatsworth House is just 3 miles away.
Outside you will find a garden table and chairs to enjoy those views and a Weber charcoal barbeque, too. You will see plenty of wildlife in the garden - pheasants, hares, amazing birdsong and the occasional deer.
Guests love the really well-equipped kitchen - there's a dishwasher, microwave and plenty of pots and pans, crockery and cutlery - and a separate pantry too to store food.
In the sitting room there are plenty of books and games, a TV and DVD player plus a cosy gas fire to curl up in front of.
Upstairs you will find the master bedroom with plenty of storage, next door is the twin bedded room - both have incredible views towards Haddon Hall.
The indoor heated swimming pool is available all year round and shared on a rota basis with The Round House, also at the same location (this is also available to book - Property id 10830688)- sleeping 5, it's ideal for family and group get-togethers.)
The pool is open from 10am to 6pm and you will have two x two hour private swimming slots each day. Guests tend to liaise with each other if, say, they are going to be out all day which allows for some flexibility.
All linen and towels are included, including pool towels. There's a laundry room, too, for your use, with a washing machine and tumble dryer. There is also a travel cot and high chair - but do please bring your own bedding for the travel cot.

We stay here for a week in May in Woodside cottage. The cottage is set in beautifully well kept grounds and the view over the Derbyshire countryside is fantastic to wake up to each morning. The cottage is nice and clean and had all the amenities and facilities we required. Without doubt, the pool is a fantastic extra to any stay. There is a well organised rota so you always have the pool to yourselves. We will be staying here again later in the year.

Dear Alexander,
Thank you so much for such a glowing review - really appreciated and so pleased that you had such a lovely time staying at Woodside Cottage.
We're looking forward to welcoming you back later in the year.
With many thanks and warmest wishes, Izzy
The cottage was very lovely and cozy. We really enjoyed our time there and the host gave many excellent recommendations for things to do and places to eat etc. The views around the property are breathtaking as well. Would absolutely return!
The cottage is very clean and well supplied. The view of the beautiful hills and pastures is exceptional. The location is near wonderful walking paths both in the Park and through local easements. We very much enjoyed meals at the nearby restaurant in The Peacock in Rowsley. We did not require any communication with the host during our stay and did not use the pool, although it was easily accessible.
Lovely stay! Quiet property in peaceful surroundings. Isobel was very attentive. Prior to our arrival, I had a few very specific questions that she answered thoroughly. Very comfortable beds. We enjoyed our Christmas stay!
Well equipped, clean, comfortble and in a stunning location. The views were idyllic and our kids loved running around the grounds and using the pool.We had a fabulous stay and hope to return!
In a fabulous location to explore the Peak District, we had a wonderful time at Woodside Cottage. The cottage was certainly warm and cosy, the underfloor heating in the bathroom a bonus. The whole cottage is fantastic and all the facilities you could wish for. The pool was great to come home to after a day’s walking in the Derbyshire dales.
We loved the cottage and the location, and the grounds are spectacular with amazing views over the hills and beyond. We had an excellent stay, and loved swimming every day too! Perfect all round, thank you and we will be booking again!
We stayed at Woodside for four days over the Easter weekend and it was perfect. The cottage has everything you need, is very comfy and there was plenty of space for the four of us (parents and two teens)The location has walks from the door, is a stones throw from Bakewell, Matlock and the Monsal trail and is excellently situated. On top of that the pool is just another bonus! Will definitely be back
Lovely property in beautiful surroundings, the only downside was the weather! Thank you Shirley and Lucky we all enjoyed our stay for a special celebration.

Thank you so much, Catherine, for such a lovely review. Warmest wishes, Izzy
Quaint little cottage with great views and everything you need for a short stay. It’s just about big enough for 2 adults and 2 kids and access to the pool was a bonus. Laundry is separate and was mostly full of washing from the property during our stay. We enjoyed the short walks and expansive gardens and would be back if we lived closer.

Thank you so much, Leighton - I'm so pleased that you had such a great time - the pool really is a bonus.
The laundry room is shared with the other cottage and we do ask guests to empty the machines as they go along - I am sorry that they had left a backlog....
Enjoy the rest of the Summer and thank you so much for taking the time to review Woodside Cottage. Warmest wishes, Izzy

Absolutely fabulous property, including location and hosts
We loved everything about our stay!
The property was very cosy, clean and comfortable.
The views were absolutely stunning - so relaxing to sit outside for all our meals enjoying the fabulous scenery. The pool was also a huge hit - great to have your own slots and the kids had the best time. To top it all off, the hosts couldn't have been more welcoming or helpful - thank you so much to both Izzy and Shirley.

We spent 3 days here for a mid week break and certainly didn’t regret our choice. Property details are spot on as was communication from Izzy. Lovely cottage in a lovely location. Being picky the cleanliness could be improved on as it smelt musty on arrival with some dusty areas but this was easily remedied and in no way detracted from our stay. Overall booking this property will not disappoint and is excellent value for money and we would gladly return.

Thank you too for your comments about the cleaning - I would always rather know and will take it up with the professional cleaning company that we use.
Do please come back and see us again.

Lovely cottage - the view was just magnificent. Great point to start excursions, e.g. to Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, the Peak District National Park etc. The Pool was much welcome on a rainy day and the owner, Isobel, was prompt with replies to any questions we had.
Myself and two friends had a wonderful time relaxing together in this beautful cottage and its grounds, and exploring the surrounding area. We really appreciated the information provided in the cottage about local places to eat and maps for walks. I was also really grateful for remote help getting the fire going! The pool is delightful and having a rota to share it with other accommodation is genius.

About the host
Hosted by Isobel James
When the owners purchased Woodside back in 1979 they took the opportunity to update next door Woodside Cottage, a cosy traditional home, adding an indoor heated swimming pool before embarking on The Round House in 1994 - both The Round House and Woodside Cottage can be booked together. The same attention to detail went in to landscaping the 9 acres of gardens - you will find plenty of mature trees and bushes which attract some amazing bird life.
Why they chose this property
You'll love the cottagey feel of Woodside Cottage - original beams, stone flanked windows, and cosy bedrooms. There's plenty of space for four - indoor and out. Don't forget the year-round indoor heated swimming pool! We also have The Roundhouse at the same location which is available to rent (sleeps 5) - ideal for family get-togethers.
What makes this property unique
With a private garden with furniture and bbq and stunning views towards Bakewell and Haddon Hall, an all-year indoor swimming pool all at the same location you will find Woodside Cottage a charming place to stay whilst exploring The Peak District. Chatsworth House is only 3 miles away.
