Waterfront, big terrace, hot tub & 200 m to beach

A charming house right on the waterfront in the heart of the historical center of Ferragudo. Built late 1800 and recently carefully renovated to a modern standard while preserving its unique character.

A magnificent sunny private roof terrace for BBQ, or just relaxing with a large hot tub and a breathtaking panoramic view. The perfect getaway for an authentic holiday away from mass tourism. Minutes from beaches, golf courses, the nightlife in Praia de Rocha, museums, and shopping malls in Portimão.

Right at your doorstep, you will see the local fishermen unloading their daily catches. 100 meters to the left of the house you have the local fish and fruit market where you can buy local produce and prepare a delicious lunch in the fully equipped modern kitchen or on the roof BBQ. The dinner can be enjoyed by the dining areas on the rooftop or in the living room.

If you turn right and follow the quayside 200 meters you will find Prai Angria, a beach used mostly by the local Portuguese. This is the perfect place for sunbathing or a swim.

If you continue to the fort, stop and try to find its hidden cave. When you continue you will come to the more touristic Pria Grande with all kinds of service including four excellent beach restaurants and rental of water equipment.

Both beaches are protected by wave breakers protecting the beaches from the Atlantic waves in that might make swimming risky at many other beaches in Algarve. After the wave breakers there is a great area for surfing.

Many of our guests just loved the breath-taking beautiful trail that starts at Pria Grande. You follow a marked path and on the cliff edges with absolutely breathtaking views. You pass the beaches of Praia do Molhe, Pintadinho, and Caneiros where you can stop or have a drink. The Seven Hanging Valleys (Sete Vales Susensos) has been named the best Hiking Destination in Europe.

Returning home, you can take a shower on the rooftop shower before watching the magnificent sunset from the hot tub.

After a drink in the launch set on the rooftop, you can go to Tres Dukes and take a bear with the local fishermen. Next door you find Amigo, a very popular place for ex-pats. Continue down the narrow-cobbled alley lined with traditional Portuguese houses takes you to a range of excellent local restaurants. After 200 meters you pass the local butcher, a bread bakery before entering the town square.

Village life still revolves around the quayside square with its narrow cobbled streets and steps, meandering up from the old quay to the summit of the small village with its 2000 inhabitants.

If you are into busier nightlife you can take the water taxi to Pria de Rocha. Within walking distance, you have a casino and many beach bars and nightclubs for every taste.

THE PROPERTY
When you enter the house from the fishing docks there is a traditional hallway, a large master bedroom, and a modern bathroom. You also find a guest room with bunk beds on the first floor.

A traditional narrow and steep stairway leading up to the second floor where there is a lounge with a dining area, sofa, TV, and a reading chair. You also find a second guest bedroom, a modern bathroom, and a kitchen with granite work surfaces, a hood with external ventilation, a high-quality microwave, freezer, fridge stove, and an oven.

There is a kitchen door leading to the narrow-cobbled streets where you might find the neighbor fisherman sitting repairing his fishing nets.

The 50 cm thick walls with charming traditional wood window shutters add to the characteristics of the house and will keep the heat out during the summer. The floors are covered with the original terracotta floor tiles.

Stairs from the hallway lead to the roof tower and the 43 m2 large fantastic private roof terrace. It has sun throughout the day with an astonishing and relaxing 180 degrees view of the blue water, the beach and the town. There is a BBQ area, an outdoor shower, a dining set, a large sofa there to relax and enjoy a glass of wine while watching the sunset as well a private hot tub for up to 6 people.

NEIGHBOUR OVERVIEW
‘Ferragudo is considered one of the most picturesque places on Algarve with this property as the centerpiece on many of the photos found on the web.

You will find an unspoiled traditional fishing village with narrow cobbled streets, lined with traditional Portuguese houses tumbling down the hillside towards the waterfront where the fishermen are unloading the catch of the day just in front of the house.

There is a small playground for the children close to the house as well on Pria Grande.

Beaches in Algarve are ranked among the best in Europe and there is no shortage of high-quality beaches close to our house.

GETTING AROUND
You can easily reach our house by car, shuttle bus or regular bus. The train station in Ferragudo is 2 km from the house. The buses stop a couple of 100 meters from the house.

Faro airport is 47 minutes away by car.
If you opt for a car it is recommended to hire a car at the airport. Car hire is available at Ferragudo.

Within Ferragudo, you get around on foot. This neighborhood is really lovely, and safe, with good lighting.

For your convenience, there are several small local stores in Ferragudo. There are frequent bus and water taxis to Portemao the second biggest city in Algarve with extensive shopping possibilities.

Most beaches have restaurants and bars in which to relax and enjoy a refreshing drink when the sun is bearing down, taste the freshest fish in the region or sit to enjoy the sunset, with the sun dipping into the sea.

There are 12 golf courses within 20 km. A car is recommended.

There are all sorts of boat trips available including trips around the coastline and caves, dolphins watching, or even a trip up the river to Silves.
The Slide & Splash and Aqualand water park are just 14 and 19 minutes away by car from the house. They are ideal for cooling off on a hot summer's day with the kids! Or take the Pirate ship from Portemao to visit the caves.

If you prefer, you can take a boat trip to visit beautiful sea caves, discover the Algarve coast and other amazing beaches or even practise a range of water sports.

If you have kids, they will love going to water parks (the closest is Slide & Splash) or visiting Zoomarine, a marine world theme park where you can enjoy dolphin and sea lion presentations and see birds of prey in action, learn about marine ecosystems and even swim with the dolphins.

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE
If you stay 7 nights or longer, a maid will check up the house mid-week.

1000 Mbyte Internet with unlimited data is provided. Smart TV with Chrome cast is available.

The Master bed is 2.85 m wide, the guest room 1,5 m, and the bunk beds are 0,9 m wide.

Any kind of party at the premises will result in a fine of 3.000 EUR, and full compensation for damage and extra cleaning. We have a door camera that registers all guests entering the property.

Abuse use of alcohol or any illegal drugs by the renter or his guests is not allowed and will be reported to the police and result in instant termination of the booking, without any refund.

As required by Portuguese law we need the name, passport number, nationality, and full address of all guests to be provided in writing. If this is not provided within two weeks after the booking, the booking will be canceled without any compensation.

The property is to be examined upon arrival by the guest. Any cleaning issues, damages, or obvious missing items or features are to be reported immediately, latest on the day of check-in
