Set within the heart of the beautiful Kent Downs, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Elm Retreat is in the perfect position to explore both city and coast with the historic City of Canterbury just eight miles away and the gateway to the coastline. Stylishly decorated and furnished to a very high standard by an award winning interior designer, you are sure to fall in love with this pretty lodge, where you can also be sure of a peaceful night’s sleep.

There are lots of walks from the doorstep and with Canterbury being nearby, there is a wealth of things to explore. There are three UNESCO world heritage sites, seven art galleries, six museums, six theatres, one castle, one abbey, one cathedral and 24 Canterbury Tales! It is also home to Bagpuss, Rupert the Bear, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and to James Bond no less. There is of course also lots of great places to eat, drink and shop too so a visit here is a must. Shopaholics should also head to Ashford Designer Village, where you are certain to grab a bargain or two.

For a lung-full of sea air, head to the much sought after seaside town of Whitstable, Dymchurch, Dungeness, Folkestone and Sandgate where generations have earned their living from the sea and shaped the way these pretty little resorts are today. Whitstable, famous for its tasty sea food and annual lobster festival it boasts lots if great, local eateries so foodies really will be spoilt for choice. If the sun is out, make your way down to the pebble beach and go for a paddle along the shoreline. Or, head to Herne Bay with its wide sandy beach and pretty painted beach huts and soak up some sun or maybe enjoy a bracing coastal walk. Dover and Leeds castles are also worth a visit, both sites have great historic interest.Within a 10 minute walk you can access Stelling Minnis Common which comprises 124 acres (50 hectares), owned by the Trustees of the late Lord Tomlin of Ash, and is one of the last remaining unenclosed manorial commons in Kent. An ideal location for a peaceful walk to enjoy the wildlife.
