Also nearby is Bere Ferrers where you will find The Olde Plough Inn serving delicious food. Tavistock, a pretty market town where Sir Francis Drake was born, is just eight miles away, bursting with many small independent shops along with many antique and craft markets.  Dartmoor, with all of its open space and fabulous walking, lies just beyond.  Buckland Abbey is also somewhere not to be missed, a National Trust house and gardens with plenty to explore.
