Relax in a beautifully renovated house in the stunning mountain village of Vetteglia above the famous spa town of Bagni di Lucca in Northern Tuscany. This hidden gem is the perfect spot to discover stunning countryside, ancient medieval Italian villages and traditional Tuscan food and wine. Numero Venti is the perfect place to enjoy a peaceful dip in the private pool with spectacular mountain views and while just minutes away from villages and towns to explore at your leisure.
With a fully fitted modern kitchen fitted with dishwasher, fridge freezer and hob and oven, there is a huge outdoor dining space where you can enjoy a leisurely lunch or evening meal with breath-taking mountain views.

Upstairs the property features three double bedrooms, all fitted with wardrobes and fans, a shower room and an ensuite bathroom with fitted bath and shower attachment.
Downstairs you will find a family friendly kitchen, a sitting room with tV, DVD and sofa bed and separate dining room with fireplace and sofa.

There is a huge paved terrace with swimming pool (open May-Sept) that enjoys all-day sunshine and is fully equipped with umbrellas, sun loungers, outdoor dining table and chairs and BBQ. There is an additional covered area for outdoor dining in the loggia. Views over the mountains are magnificent.
The property has been renovated to a very high standard and features wifi and TV plus a large collection of DVDs, books and games for guests to enjoy.

Horse riding, white water rafting, mountain biking, paragliding and quad biking is available locally.

Bagni di Lucca is just 8km away and has everything you need including restaurants, bars, supermarkets, local shops, banks and a wonderful spa. There is also an outdoor lido. The nearest shop is 1km in San Gemignano and the nearest restaurant 3km away in the beautiful village of San Cassiano which also has a larger shop selling general provisions. The beautiful walled city of Lucca is less than 45 minutes drive and the sights of Florence, Siena, Pisa and Gimignano can all be reached by a car trip in a day. The coast and beach at Viareggio and ski slopes of Abetone are both within a one hour drive making this the perfect location to discover everything Tuscany has to offer.

Very spacious villa, with all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay, set in a quiet rural location up in the Tuscan hills. Good size swimming pool, which our boys really enjoyed, with incredible views over the mountains. Convenient base to visit both Pisa and Florence and the nearest big town, Lucca, is well worth visiting. Teresa, was very helpful, responded quickly to our queries and gave us some great recommendations.

Relaxing in the mountains

This was a really nice and new experience of spending one week in the tuscan mountain area . We had a great time in the house with the pool. Good food was served by the local restaurants. The view from the house was amazing.

A lovely property and wonderful location

We had a delightful stay at this charming property just outside Bagni di Lucca. The road to the property is quite narrow and thrilling to navigate in the dark, but worth the journey as it feels like you’ve escaped to the middle of nowhere. Our first morning we discovered it’s really worth making sure you set an alarm if you need to wake up as the property’s shutters are exceptionally effective. Once we did eventually wake up, the loungers by the pool provide an idyllic spot to enjoy the beautiful Tuscan hills. We loved our stay here. The property is really well equipped, spacious, clean and in a stunning location. Thank you for a lovely few days!

It was a pleasure to host you and your family. By Italian standards the road is considered easy as wide enough for two cars to pass (the bus runs up and down too) and not too steep. You do get used to it very quickly and as you say the views and tranquility are so worth it! Hope to see you again.

Lovely views!!

A gorgeous house with stunning views however others should be aware that the swimming pool area is overlooked by neighbours on two sides. We had a super fortnight, visited Lucca, Barga and Florence, enjoyed many an Aperol Spritz and had some tasty food! The first drive up the mountain from Bagni Di Lucca was a little hairy but we soon got used to it. The area is beautiful, the villages are interesting and most of the Italians we met were very friendly. Would love to return.

Amazing views

Fantastic property situated in the hills above Bagni Di Lucca. The terrace and pool give way to fantastic views over the valley and across to the other side. Unfortunately for us, we got to use them on a limited number of occasions during our weeks' stay as the weather was very up and down but even so, the views are stunning whatever the weather. Great base also for exploring the local towns and villages, such as Lucca, Barga and Bagni Di Lucca. We even ventured as far away as Florence which is also very accessible by road and well worth the time to travel there which is under 2 hours.

Fantastic Rustic Villa!

The villa was quaintly rustic and set in a beautiful setting. The property was immaculately clean and had all (and more) supplies, should you have forgotten anything! The surroundings were quiet, with the maintained pool a great feature during hot days! The property had a really nice warm and cozy feel, which was echoed by all the guests that were staying there. The town of Bagni Di Lucca catered for all your grocery needs, to which I would suggest visiting before you head up to the villa. Teresa was a great host and was easily reached if needed. All in all a great place to stay and unwind!

pretty mountain home

Very comfortable villa above Bagni do Lucca with good sized pool. We loved being within a small Italian village, everyone very friendly. The owners provided an excellent set of instructions before we left and Doreen and Sofia further help after we arrived. The villa was spacious and had everything we needed, a further plus was a very comfortable living room with lots of books and dvd/tv if you needed. We had excellent weather so were outdoors and in the pool most days but had nice trips out to local mountain villages and Lucca (sightseeing and market). Would definitely recommend the villa to others and hope to return ourselves next year.

Perfect villa in a perfect location

We have just returned from a perfect family holiday at this villa. The photos in the listing are completely accurate, but do not do the house or the location justice. The house itself is clean, beautiful and thoughtfully stocked and the private pool is very welcome in summer temperatures. The view from the terrace is across the wooded valleys of northwest Tuscany to the villages on opposite hillsides, and the location is so tranquil that it is easy to lose hours watching the butterflies during the day or fireflies at night. Thank you Teresa for being a great host. We hope to return next year!

Lovely house with beautiful views

We had a fantastic stay at Vetteglia, which is located above Bagni di Lucca. The traditional Tuscan farmhouse has been sympathetically renovated to a very high standard with many original features retained. It is very comfortable with plenty of space both indoors and outdoors and has a lovely swimming pool and large patio. The views of the surrounding mountains are fantastic. The house is very well equipped and has wifi. It is a perfect base to explore Tuscany, we visited Lucca, Sienna, San Gimignano and Florence during our stay, as well as the area surrounding Bagni di Lucca itself. We intend returning next Summer, when we'll be able to make use of the swimming pool and continue our exploration of Tuscany.

Nice House in North Toskana

We had nice days in this nice house. Three bedrooms and two bath rooms. The kitchen is big and have all what is needed with Gas cooking. There is a nice garden with pool but we cannot use because our Stay in April is to Early. The house and the little village is in the mountains thereof you need time to drive to the location every day. As the house is in the Mountain WiFi is available but we had no Connection to Internet, this was not good for our Teenager. All together we had nice days in Italy

Mountain Villa

Notwithstanding the initial problem of the double beds; the online listing indicated there would be some single beds; we found the villa very well equipped and to a high standard. The villa was very comfortable with excellent outside space, seating and pool. The views were outstanding. The local town has good facilities and the location of the villa is ideal for sight seeing. One small problem we encountered was that despite our diligent efforts to separate the various items for recycling, the bins were not collected on the respective days; we also did not have all the bins listed. However, our family all enjoyed an excellent holiday and would like to return one day.

Beautiful house in Vetteglia

the house is a beautiful stone house, in a remote very small village about 45min from Lucca. The road to the house is quite narrow and steep, but ok to reach the house. Checking-in was without problems; clear instructions were provided. The house comes fully equipped and looks quite recently renovated. Apart from a place to hang our jackets, we did not miss anything. Our kids really enjoyed the swimming pool. During our stay, the house attached to our house was also occupied by a young couple. No problem of course, for us it was only not completely clear which parts of the backyard were common/private. In Bagni di Lucca we could find everything we needed. For our daily groceries we went to Erica in San Gemignano; very nearby (less then 5 min by car). Wifi is limited in bandwidth, but ok for some simple online services. Cellphone reception was also a bit limited in Vetteglia. From Vetteglia we made trips to Lucca, Florence, Viareggio and a few other places. All doable within a day.

Beautiful Tuscan villa- pure tranquility.

This villa is absolutely lovely. Exactly what we wanted, beautiful views and a gorgeous pool. It is peaceful and a very relaxing place to stay. The villa is spacious, extremely clean and well maintained and has everything you need. It is a good location for visiting Lucca, Florence and Pisa as well as other Tuscan beauty spots. Lots to do in the area too. We did zip lining and SUP at Canyon Park which was fantastic and very reasonably priced as well as Kayaking on the river Lima. There is quad bikes, horseriding and other activities locally too. Bagni di Lucca has good local supermarkets with sufficient stock for your food requirements. The villa is up a hill, but there is enough width in the road for cars to pass each other. You have to go up hills to get the views! It is well worth it. Teresa the host was extremely helpful and answered and resolved our queries quickly. Highly recommend this property and hope to be back soon.

A Perfect Family Getaway in Idyllic Tuscan Mountains

Our family of four just returned from an incredible week in Vetteglia, Tuscany, and we’re already planning our next visit. This property is nestled in the mountains, offering an idyllic setting with crystal-clear air and breathtaking views. The quiet and traditional charm of the place made it the perfect getaway. The accommodation was simply amazing—high quality and truly a home away from home. It was the perfect blend of comfort and tradition. The swimming pool was a fantastic addition, providing a refreshing escape in the serene surroundings. We spent our days relaxing, mountain biking, dining at local restaurants, and exploring Bagni di Lucca. Our day trips to Florence and Lucca were highlights, with Lucca being our favourite. Teresa, the property owner, was incredibly responsive and knowledgeable. Her recommendations added so much to our trip, making it even more memorable. The location is remote, which was one of the best parts. The roads were fine, and the seclusion offered us peace and quiet. We loved our daily long walks and sitting outside admiring the views, our tranquility only occasionally interrupted by the gentle bells of goats on their afternoon stroll. As a family of foodies, the highlight of our trip was undoubtedly the local cuisine. We were amazed by the quality and value of the food. Bar Santina in neighbouring ring San Cassiano was a standout. Au bout du monde, tout au fond de la toscane.

Cette maison de vacances est refaite récemment , rustique mais en bon état. Elle est située à Vetegglia, un hameau à 7,5 kms de Bagni di lucca, que l’on rejoint par une route sinueuse de montagne au milieu de la forêt. Points positifs : le hameau est calme, cuisine bien équipée, 3 chambres spacieuses, vue imprenable sur la forêt, excellent wifi (contrairement aux précédentes critiques). Moustiquaires à toutes les fenêtres. Tri sélectif bien organisé, peu contraignant. Activités sportives accessibles ( marche au monte fiori, vtt et activités de rivière sur Bagni). Points négatifs : la maison est mitoyenne, la piscine située à l’aplomb du terrain des voisins ( qui y sont souvent présents), au début je pensais qu’il s’agissait de la leur. La literie est de qualité insuffisante ( dure et rebondissante) , la maison est très sombre. Les restaurants et commerces sont situés à Bagni di lucca et les trajets de nuit sur ces petites routes de montagne sont peu évidents. Lucca reste accessible en moins d’une heure, les autres villes toscanes beaucoup plus distantes. Aucun contact sur place, mais une bouteille d’eau et de vin pétillant offertes, minorant la peine pour trouver l’appartement .

I am naturally disappointed you gave us three stars unlike all our other reviews which are 4 or 5 stars as we invest much time, money and effort in making the house perfect for a relaxing holiday. The house is traditional stone built Italian with terracotta ceilings, Tuscan style and shutters on windows to keep it cool inside when it is very hot weather. You can open these to let in light as there are nets on all windows. Despite traditional Italian build the kitchen and bathroom etc are modern and new as is the furniture including the mattresses. Unfortunately mattress feel will always be subjective as everyone has a different preference on firm, soft or bouncy. These are good quality and new. There are many beautiful towns and villages within 10 minutes drive of the house including Barga, Gallicano and Lucca is 35-45 minutes away. Pisa is an hour, the beaches just over an hour, Florence 1.5 hours and skiing an hour. There is a shop less than three minutes away (you can walk in 30 mins but through uneven path) that stocks everything including a great deli and freshly baked bread and cakes. At San Cassiano about 3k away there is a grocers, butchers and greengrocers and a fantastic bar and traditional family run restaurant for pizza and traditional Tuscan food. The location means you are surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery without being too far from Bagni di lucca and can see swallows dip in the pool, goats wander through the fields and fireflies in June. Perched in the hills opposite are several villages with church bells sounding - it’s idyllic as many of our reviewers have pointed out. It means you can enjoy the best of both worlds - visiting bustling towns and coming home to the tranquility of the mountains and immersed in nature. The pool is completely private and totally separate from neighbours house and they are an italian older couple and rarely visit apart from odd weekend. I leave lots of info for holidaymakers but I do not keep messaging you as I like to leave people in peace to enjoy their holiday but I am always responsive if anyone contacts me about anything. Herausragendes Ferienhaus

Wir hatten einen wunderschönen Urlaub! Unsere Gastgeberin, war jederzeit erreichbar und hilfsbereit! Das Haus liegt am Rand eines kleinen Dorfes. Es ist liebevoll und geschmackvoll renoviert. Das ursprüngliche Ambiente wurde sehr gut erhalten und verleiht dem Haus ein schönes und passendes Ambiente. Die Aussicht ist grandios. Jede Tageszeit und Wetterlage bietet seine Schönheit an Natur und der ruhigen Umgebung. Als Familie war der Pool perfekt. Der Pool ist eingezäunt und entspannt als Eltern mit kleinen Kindern. Das Haus ist gut ausgestattet und bietet genügend Ecken, um auch als größere Familie eine erholsame Zeit zu erleben. Die Einrichtung ist durchdacht, mit genügend Stauraum und man fühlt sich auf Anhieb angekommen! Teresa überlässt hier nichts dem Zufall! Eine Zusammenstellung mit Vorschlägen für Ausflüge und Freizeitaktivitäten ist vorhanden. Ebenso die wichtigsten Infos sind übersichtlich und griffbereit (Einkauf, Empfehlungen, Notfall, etc.). Wer die Ruhe, Natur und die Abgeschiedenheit sucht, ohne dabei auf Wifi zu verzichten, ist genau richtig. Lucca, Garga, die Grotte des Windes - Grotta del Vento -, Viareggio mit seiner breiten Promenade und dem schönen Strand (der freie Strand) war ein Besuch wert. Allerdings muss man Fahrzeiten gut einplanen. Wir haben uns rundum wohlgefühlt und wären gerne noch ein paar Tage länger geblieben. Thanks Teresa, we had a tremendous and fantastic holiday!

Hi Dirk It was a pleasure to have you stay in our home and see how much effort we put into making it feel like a home from home for guests. We do try to equip the house with everything you might need especially in the kitchen. We have recently installed a brand new dishwasher and shower and continually update our furnishings to ensure the property is top notch. I am glad you took advantage of exploring the area as there is so much to see and do within an hour away including beautiful medieval towns and churches 15 mins away and the amazing ancient town of Lucca 45 minutes away. If you love walking and nature the location is perfect as there are loads of places to visit including a gorge 30 minutes away, canyon park (10 minutes drive) where you can paddle board and zip wire and the field of flowers with stunning views. There are many places to visit quite nearby and some you come across by accident and are not always advertised as tourist attractions but are breathtakingly beautiful. I thoroughly recommend Barga and Castelnuovo which are quite large towns a short drive away. Lucca is a must visit and around 40 minutes drive with loads to see and do. Wundervoller Ort, wundervolle Zeit

Das Haus ist komplett und schön eingerichtet. Von der Poolliege bis zum Sonnenschirm , Grill, Handtücher usw. Wir haben absolut nichts vermisst. Das Haus liegt ganz oben in den Bergen und hat eine wundervolle Aussicht. Obwohl andere Häuser in der Nachbarschaft sind fühlt man sich fast als wäre man dort ganz alleine so ruhig ist es. Der Poolbereich ist von einer Heck und schönen alten Steinmauern eingefasst, so hat man auch dort seine Privatsphäre. Wir haben gut zwei Wochen dort verbracht und eine schöne Zeit gehabt. Die Eigentümerin Teresa ist sehr bemüht ihren Gästen den Aufenthalt so angenehm wie möglich zu gestalten.

En dejlig uge med lækkert vejr og flotte omgivelser. Huset er flot istandsat og poolen og terrasserne er fantastiske. Sengene er lidt til den hårde side. Og internet i hele området er meget ustabilt. Teresa er meget hjælpsom og svarer hurtigt, når der er spørgsmål.

Hi Anita I am so pleased you enjoyed your stay. The house is in the mountains so the internet is slow. We are waiting for a new mast in the nearby village which should improve the speed. But when you have a beautiful view, pool and warm sunshine you won’t need WiFi. There are numerous cafes in The town which have free WiFi too. I am pleased you enjoyed the house and could see the effort we have made to keep it in good condition. The mattresses are new and although you found them a little hard it is a matter of preference and guests usually don’t like soft mattresses with no support. We hope to see you back again one day. Wonderful, well equipped house in beautiful surroundings

A fantastic, large house well suited for a family with 3 adult children. We absolutely loved the pool and pool area and the view from the house was amazing. Location close to Bagni di Lucca and Lucca is also perfect. Communication with the owner was good but unfortunately the local service provider did not provide any service while we were there. Hopefully this will be improved for future guests.

Most beautiful house in Tuscany

We had the greatest time as a family in this beautiful house. The house is spotless and it feels like home from the first minute. The typical tuscan style is really beautiful. It is nearly impossible to describe the wonderful view, the evening atmosphere at the pool or the quiteness of Vetteglia. You just have to experience all of this yourself. The kitchen is very very well equipped. Cooking is so much fun in this kitchen - especially because of the gas stove. The three bedrooms are very nice decorated and the mattresses are very comfortable. The narrow road to the house is kind of adventurous with an SUV, but it is also fun at the same time. We felt like being in Paradise and didn't want to leave.

Hi I am Teresa and I fell in love with Italy when I was 19 on a trip around Europe. Needless to stay I abandoned seeing the Northern Lights and spent the majority of the month long stay travelling through Italy from Venice to Pompeii. I have since been back to many regions of Italy and Sicily and Sardinia but my heart belongs in Tuscany. Fast forward more years than I would like to remember and I had the opportunity to buy a traditional stone house up in the mountains near Bagni Di Lucca in Northern Tuscany.

Why they chose this property

We searched and searched looking for our ideal house which was traditional but not too rustic (I like my mod cons) and this house was a gem of a find. We were lucky as it had not been advertised and we happened to be in Italy on yet another home search when it came on the market. We fell in love with the property, pool and the stunning view which is magical day and night. We are discovering the area too so please share your recommendations for places to eat out and go and see. Enjoy your holiday!

What makes this property unique

Location, location, location!! The view, the pool and the beautiful restoration is what makes this property unique. Whatever the weather waking up to that stunning mountain view is amazing. You can watch the swifts dart to the pool during the day, listen to the goats being herded and the birdsong in the trees. At night you can see the twinkling lights of villages across the valley and relax in the balmy warmth of an Italian summer's evening.
