The location and property were great, exactly what we needed for myself, my two sisters and their families to stay at. The porperty itself is huge with very large rooms and community spaces. The pool was fantastic and everything was beautiful. Cecilia was communicative, prompt and very nice. We will definitely be back again.

Beautiful home, huge, lots of room, inside and out. This is a real home, with lots of personal family touches, not just a rental home run by a company. Most of the bedrooms have their own bath, although two bedrooms do share. Cecelia is an amazing host and we had several back and forth conversations before and during our stay. She recommended restaurants which were fabulous. We also enjoyed preparing meals in her wonderful kitchen. There are two tables in adjoining rooms each side of the kitchen. (It’s a little hard to tell in the pictures.) Between the two tables we sat 14 easily and could have had 16. We served buffet from the kitchen and that worked well. We didn’t use the pool but it’s beautiful. The gas fire pit was easy to use and we enjoyed it one evening. I want one at home! Thank you Cecelia for a trip of a lifetime.

Fabulous Place

We spent a weekend here with family and hosted a lunch with friends. The house is large and beautiful, and the grounds are private and lovely. There was plenty of space to gather and also find some seclusion, if desired. We had a great time and hope to return for another stay at some point.

Nice house in a quiet neighborhood

We enjoyed it a lot, and the experience was great. Note that the swimming pool isn't that warm since it relies on solar panels.

Beautiful garden setting

The ambiance of the garden property is lovely, pool is refreshing, home is full of books, art and collectives. Kitchen is well stocked. There is not a hot tub. Lots of toys and games available for family use. Beds are comfortable. Host is very responsive to questions. We had a very nice family (3 generations) vacation. Plenty of sites to enjoy nearby.

Great weekend

Our family gathered in the house for our Mom's 95th birthday. The house and grounds are beautiful, and the open floor plan, with the kitchen, sitting room, and dining table all in one open space) made it possible for us to be together and have separate conversations. Perfect for family party.

Incredible property

We rented both the main house and the apartment, and it was perfect for our large gathering. The house has so many charming details. It's very spacious and allowed us to gather comfortably in a variety of places. We also enjoyed the piano and the outdoor patio/fire pit. Everyone slept well, too. I recommend it!

The house is large, and the grounds are beautiful. The host was very accommodating of our special requests (with a fee) and we so appreciate that! I would recommend the place for the families with children 5 and able bodied individuals. We didn't use a lot of the outdoor space because it's a split level backyard, not flat and not suitable for older folks, but the upper backyard is lovely. The aesthetic of the house is gorgeous, and clearly a loving family home. Some rooms were missing drapes :P

I'm so sorry that you didn't use the lower garden. Both the garden off the kitchen and the lower garden, which is park like, are acessible by stairs as well as a brick walk way to even make it accessible to individuals that might need access by wheelchair. Happy to hear that you found the grounds and house beautiful. Thanks!

Gorgeous home!

The house reminded our group of a mansion! Very beautiful layout-- the rooms and common spaces are extravagant yet comfortable, and the grounds were gorgeous. Pool was not usable just because it was too cold to go in! Cecilia is a wonderful host, easy to reach and immediately responsive. I'd recommend the place without reservation!

Works for Large Group

We slept 15 people here for 3 nights, renting the main house and the apartment. The place felt very clean--no dust or dirt anywhere. It is lived in--some of the drawers did have some personal items and the fridge/freezer had quite a bit of food in them but this did not affect our enjoyment. Cecilia was available to us, answered texts promptly and cared that everything was to our liking which we appreciated.

Beautiful property

large estate property in a gem of a neighborhood! Beautiful grounds and pool! Large kitchen and patio areas made it easy for our extended family to gather & converse. The number of bed spots didn’t seem to exactly coordinate with the listing. For example, Says there’s a room with 2 queens, a king, and a futon but there wasn’t the second queen. It all worked out and we had a nice time overall but wanted future visitors to be aware of checking on the number of sleeping spots.

The number of bed spots is exactly as described in the description...so really unclear why the guest thought otherwise?...unless maybe they didn't read correctly?...Bedroom #1 has King, B #2 has King, B#3 has Double and a twin, Bed#4 has 2 twins and an Aero Queen, Bed #5 has a King, an Aero Queen, and a pull out Queen Futon.

Beautiful property

The house is beautiful. It is very spacious, great for family/ friend gatherings. Location is convenient. And they have VCR! kids all had a great time watching Beauty and the Beast and Peter Pan after dinner. The only thing was that there was a wasp nest on the ground right next to the house which was a bit scary for the kids. Hope it has been removed. The grill and kitchen sink were also not in best condition during our stay. But I get it that a big place like this is hard to maintain. We all had a great time!

This is stunning property in an absolutely beautiful, quiet, safe neighborhood. The yard is spectacular and the pool area was perfect for us: the pool was warm and clean. (Note that you are not allowed to use the pool after dark because it is a residential neighborhood). The listing says there is a hot tub, but there isn't. The house is very large with spacious gathering areas: a large kitchen and adjacent living room. The primary suite is huge with a private balcony. The house was built in the 1950s and most of the home's mechanicals appear to either be from that era or from the 1970s/1980s. The thermostats are impossible to use, and one side of the house had little to no AC and the other was always freezing. The plumbing is old, especially in the lower level apartment (rented for an extra fee). The faucet was barely operational in the shower and required a plumber during our stay. One bedroom on the main level had an en suite where the sliding door was broken and trapped multiple people in the bathroom. Two bedrooms had to share one tiny bathroom in the hallway. Beds in the listing include trundle beds/air mattresses. There were inadequate pillows and blankets: two pillows per bed. This is an owner occupied home and there was very little storage: no drawers, only a few hangers. Beds and bedding were on the older side.None of these issues ruined the trip and the host was responsive, and the San Rafael location was perfect. Would stay again if a few issues were fixed.

So sorry that u had difficulty with thermostat... if u push arrows up and down, it turns temperature up and down...sorry that u had a hard time with that. The shower handles in apartment have been changed, as I saw that u had difficulty operating it and it snapped off. There are many extra pillows and blankets in the closet in the bedroom by the kitchen, which was noted on the instruction sheet. There are 3 bathrooms and 4 bedrooms in the main house and 1 bathroom downstairs in the studio apartment. All the best.

Spacious and lovely house for large family gatherings.

The house was clean and spacious and perfect for our large family gathering. The owner was responsive and great to work with. We loved the putting green and had a great family golf tournament! The fire pit was also a wonderful addition for our evenings. Please Note: The house is listed as 5 bedroom/ 4 bath for 1500 a night , BUT- The 5th bedroom / 4th bath is an additional cost to the price listed. This is a bit confusing because you must go the the drop down information in order to see this in the fine print. I thought I had rented 5 bedrooms from the beginning and was very grateful that the owner reached out to me a few weeks before our trip and let me know that I had only rented the "main house" which was only 4 bedrooms and 3 baths which would not have worked for our group. Plus, I would not have wanted other people on the same property at the same time. So, just make sure you know what you are renting and the cost. We had a wonderful time and I would rent again.

Yes, I wish there was a way to include all the information in the heading but there is not...and I tried to see if VRBO could help, so that it is not confusing but they couldn't...so that is why I put in bold print ..."PLEASE NOTE..."...thanks for the heads up. I appreciate it.

Our family of ten, four generations, thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The weather was a bit cool which made the heated pool a special delight. The grounds are beautiful and well kept up. The kitchen had everything we needed including all the condiments, coffee and more. This is a large home with plenty of room to spread out. Master bedroom was massive. It has a very high bed that may be a problem with someone with mobility issues. We ended up adding the extra basement apartment at the last minute, and it was not properly cleaned. All the other rooms were very clean. Our host was very accommodating. There was a minor plumbing problem, and she sent a plumber immediately. We would definitely stay here again if vacation in the area in the futurte.
