Tucked away in one of St. Barth’s green zones, the newly renovated Villa Marie (MAI) is a place that revels in absolute peace and tranquility. That is what gives the luxury rental house’s owners their greatest pleasure, and it’s a feeling they have set out to share with others. The vacation home is the antidote to the sometimes-high energy of the island’s restaurants and nightclubs. While the roads can get busy, guests here forget that traffic even exists as soon as they arrive.

Being in Villa Marie is being in your own world. With abundant art adorning the walls, enticing warm textures (blond wood, wicker furnishings), and pretty fabrics with patterns inspired by nature, the villa is a poetic ode to the good life in the Caribbean.

Hidden in the Camaruche region of St. Barth, the villa is a peaceful respite from the outside world. Along with being peaceful, it is very comfortable. Living, cooking, dining, and relaxing areas blend seamlessly together, and the line between indoors and out is a blurry one. It is easy to be swept away by the island’s sunshine and cooling breezes.

When Villa Marie is rented as a one-bedroom home, it’s a romantic retreat for one couple. When it’s rented with two bedrooms, it becomes a convivial getaway for parents and an adult child, or for two couples traveling together. Both of the bedrooms are spacious, well turned out, and appealing, and each has terrific privacy. One of them is on the main level, along with the kitchen, living area, and terrace; it has its own bathroom right outside of it. The other is one floor lower, on the same level as the pool, with an ensuite bathroom and small kitchenette with a sink, refrigerator, and coffee machine.

Behind the indoor dining area lies a cozy garden that functions as a nature-filled backyard. At times of the year, it is filled with orchids. On the other side of the main living space, an infinity pool glimmers in the sun. It can be difficult to choose between them.
