Burnside View is a wonderful first floor apartment in a beautiful Victorian detached house. The house stands back from Burtersett Road, faces south and is just a few minutes walk to the main market place in Hawes in upper Wensleydale. Hawes is the perfect place to explore the Yorkshire Dales National park, on foot, by car or whichever way takes your fancy!

It is close to the three Yorkshire Peaks and Ribble Head Viaduct and has Garsdale Station of the Settle Carlisle Railway on its doorstep. Entry to this spacious apartment is through the main front door, private to the apartment, opening into a porch with beautiful stained glass and through to a splendid hallway with beautiful Victorian floor tiles typical of the era and a good place to leave coats and shoes. A staircase rises from the hallway to a large landing leading to two bedrooms, a bathroom and a generous lounge with dining area and adjacent kitchen. Both bedrooms have king size beds and the main bedroom at the rear has wonderful views to the nearby fellsides. The elegant tiled, bathroom has a bath with an overhead shower, washbasin and toilet. The large lounge has a decorative Victorian style arched fireplace, a roomy corner settee and dining area which views out over Burtersett Road to the rising fells beyond. Off the lounge is a compact and stylish kitchen with all modern appliances.

Burnside View epitomises Victorian splendour with its high ceilings giving the wonderful feeling of light and space, with elaborate mouldings in cornice and ceiling roses and intricate but modern chandeliers in the main rooms and hallway. Large sliding sash windows flood natural light into the rooms and stylish panel doors complimented by ornate architrave add to the overall embellishment throughout of the apartment. Perfect for four people, or spacious for two, you will enjoy the very high standard this accommodation provides.

A week in the Yorkshire Dales

Fantastic week, great accomodation, lots of walking,, drinking and eating out. Parked the car up on arrival, and there it stayed for the week.

Excellent accommodation

Very clean and extremely spacious. Everything you’re likely to require is provided. Would definitely return. It’s just a shame most bookings are for 7 nights as we find that a bit too long

Great location

Another great stay. Have stayed here three times before. Location excellent for all local amenities and walks. Excellent addition is being able to leave all coats and shoes down stairs so not taking wet coats and shoes upstairs. Had problem with Internet which housekeeper and owner sorted promptly. Property has everything you would need in he kitchen. Plenty of hot water and didn't need the heating. Only negative were cobwebs and spiders but expect this in the countryside and property hadn't had anyone in for a few weeks before our visit

Another great stay

Is a wonderful first-floor flat. Spacious, elegant, with so many nice touches (the owners also come here so it's not your standard 'letting investment' rental). Perfectly positioned close to the centre of Hawes. Off street parking. Comfortable beds. Well-equipped kitchen. Enough carpet space to do my morning yoga. Excellent walks nearby. We've been here about 15 times now!

Another good stay at Burnside View

We've stayed at Burnside View several times. The big windows make it nice and light as well as make the most of the views. Comfy beds and seating. Kitchen well equipped. Very handy for shops, cafes, pubs etc in the town as well as walks from the door. No need to use the car.

Another great stay

Love this flat. Part of a big old house, perfectly positioned close to Hawes (300 m walk) and with off street parking space. Rooms are large, elegant and comfy. Beds great. Has bath and shower. Owners are available if needed by phone. Lambs in the fields back and front this time, sweet to watch!

Another great visit

This is a property we return to each year and have never been disappointed. It is in an ideal situation with off road parking but just a short walk from shops, pubs etc… Walks from the door plus a wealth of different places to visit. This year we had an afternoon at Catterick races, plus much more.

Another great week in Burnside

Our second enjoyable visit. The property is well maintained, spacious and comfortable. Another big plus for this property is that pets are not allowed, you can really tell the difference.

A perfect apartment for being in a lovely village and for exploring the Dales

Apart from being an excellent apartment and great service by letting agents and the owners it is so close to hotels restaurants and cafes which means unless you want to you never need to use your car. No parking worries as the apartment provides a dedicated parking space within the house location. The apartment is beautiful and well looked after and lovely place to stay with good heating and perfect amenities .

Everything we want from a holiday home

Even after reading the very positive reviews, the flat exceeded our expectations. Furnished and fitted to a very high standard, we also felt this is very much a home for the owners and that it was a place we could relax and feel at home too. We had been slightly worried that the traffic noise from the main road into Hawes might be a nuisance, but the triple-glazing is very effective. We'd also like to add that our visit was during a very hot week, but the flat remained comfortably cool even without fans or air conditioning; simply taking basic measures like closing windows and curtains appropriately. Our 1960s' home in Bedford is certainly not built to deal with our increasingly hot summers nearly so well! We have already recommended the flat to friends who visit the Yorkshire Dales and would definitely return when we next plan a holiday in Wensleydale.

Our second visit

This was our second visit to Burnside, it is an a very good location and very quiet. There are good walks from the door and many more 15 to 20 minutes drive away. Hawes has very good facilities, with shops, pubs, cafes and a very good chippie. The apartment is clean, comfortable and has everything you need for a stay. Would definitely stay again. Thanks

Home from home

We have been coming here for several years and have never been disappointed. The location is great, parking a bonus and the property itself has everything you could need. It is spacious and comfortable with beautiful views from every window. Lots of walks and places to visit in the local area. Plenty of places to eat and drink. Local shops and Tuesday market means it is also easy to cook at the flat. People very friendly and welcoming.

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy
It was perfect, clean, comfortable, location. We are in our eighties now and still managed the lesser walks around the area , Crockets the butchers perfect rolls for our picnics. The White Heart perfect for a special meal. And the restaurant upstairs in town excellent value for money and very popular. Needless to say bought Nick Nacks from the creamery. The view at breakfast time is wonderful especially if sheep are in the field.The accommodation has its challenges, eg the stairs, the light switches, we have been several times before and would go again.

Another great week in Hawes

Burnside View is a comfy, clean, well equipped flat near the centre of Hawes. We keep returning because it is ideal for walking holidays but with a bit of luxury. The agency and owners provide excellent customer service and the flat provides very good value for money. There are plenty of good facilities in Hawes - great pubs and restaurants - and being on the Pennine Way and close to the Three Peaks, it is in a perfect location. Thank you for letting us stay. We will definitely be back.

Great holiday in Burnside View

Burnside View is a spacious and comfortable apartment, very well furnished and equipped. We enjoyed the fantastic views from the living-room and bedroom windows - what a wonderful landscape! We could start our hikes right from the doorstep, and shops, restaurants, pubs are just a short walk away. So we had a very relaxing holiday with minimum use of our car. It was the fourth time we booked an apartment/ cottage with Country Hideways and enjoyed staying in each of them. Service and advice when I was booking was always very friendly and professional. Whenever we’re planning another holiday in the Dales we’ll get back to Country Hideaways.

Lovely property

Comfy, clean property. Quality beds & bedding. Views from the large windows which also let lots of light in even in winter. Small but well equipped kitchen which had everything we needed for our stay. Very convenient for nipping into town for shops etc. Hawes is a lovely place with a good range of shops and facilities and walks from the door. There was a problem with the heating which we reported and the caretaker (who is local) came to check it out. We weren't cold as there was an 'emergency' heater available which helped to supplement the central heating. The owner has since contacted me to advise the problem has been resolved.

Another great holiday in this lovely flat

We've been coming back to this flat for years - it's just perfect for us (couple who enjoy walking). The owners, Shirley and Steve, have put lots of personal touches (it doesn't feel like a rental, more like someone's special retreat). The beds are really comfy, rooms spacious and elegant, kitchen small but well-equipped, and a lovely deep bath is there for a soak when needed. It's perfectly located - a couple of hundred yards from the centre of town, easy walk to pubs and cafes. Parking spot right outside (off street). Has two bedrooms, would suit two couples. Perfect Apartment and Situation

I will start with contact with the owner before arriving - lovely lady and very informative and helpful. When we arrived we had a nice easy parking space. Entered the building and everywhere was extremely clean. The apartment is very spacious with two good size bedrooms, comfortable and well equipped. The booklet covered everything you need to know. The walk into Hawes is only a few hundred yards which was great so the situation of the building was just perfect. I would definitely recommend this to anyone and if we came back to the area I wouldn’t look for anything else. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Spacious comfy apartment in good location

Comfy, spacious, light apartment with great views front & back. Kitchen is small but well equipped with everything we needed and more. The spacious bedrooms have the comfiest beds and bedding of any holiday cottage we've stayed in! There was a problem with the heating during our stay but once we reported this to the caretaker and owner they both responded and also insisted on bringing a portable heater to supplement the heating and ensure we weren't cold. The locations is handy for nipping into town were there are a good number of interesting shops, cafes, pubs. Walks from the door of whatever length or challenge you like. Further places to visit within a short drive. We look forward to a return visit to Burnside.
