Spacious property
The property is large and spacious and we were comfortable there. It is a great location for all Sao Miguel has to offer. Nothing was further than an hour away. It was very clean. The washing machine and courtyard to dry clothes was brilliant, especially with a two year old.
Unfortunately, there were a couple of things that let the property down. The kitchen was poorly equipped for example there were no cooking knives and we had to go out and buy our own cleaning spray to wipe down the kitchen and dining table after cooking. The hosts were quick to respond but not always very helpful, for example we asked about the knives saying we could only find steak knives and they just said that is all they had. There was no cot on arrival despite asking for it twice before arrival - this was very quickly solved though.
Most annoyingly was about how much I was hassled about when we would arrive for check in as someone was to meet us in person. I gave a rough idea and explained that we would be picking up a rental car and stopping at the super market on the way, but I felt like I was told off when I was quite inaccurate. We’re somewhere new, with a 2 year old and I’m pregnant, so we don’t really know how long it’s going to take! If it’s a problem doing check ins, why not have a key box at the property? All the host did when we arrived was say this is the kitchen, this is the bedroom etc. The only benefit of seeing a person is that we could ask for the missing cot straight away
