Apartment, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)
Built during the early 1900’s, The Chapman House is an original cottage of Historic Biltmore Village. It is part of a picturesque manorial village planned by none other than George Washington Vanderbilt (1862-1914), the founder of the vast and awe inspiring Biltmore Estate.
Initially, the European inspired village housed estate workers and was the center of community life, the location of schools, post office, train depot, infirmary, and church. However, through the course of time, a number of changes have occurred and the village has become a center for art, music, shopping, and restaurants resting just outside the entrance of the Biltmore Estate.
The Chapman House is the only cottage within the village that incorporates a mixed occupancy. A two-story structure, the upstairs apartment maintains a lodging facility complete with a full kitchen, bath, bedroom, foyer, living room, parking, and back porch overlooking the village. The downstairs is currently the home of Curtis Wright Outfitters, a retail store with goods for fishing, hiking and outdoor lifestyle.
The historic nature of the structure is preserved with original hardwood floors, doors, hardware, lathe and plaster walls, exterior appearance, and overall ambiance.
Enjoy the convenience of walking to dozens of local shops and restaurants, driving five minutes to downtown Asheville and the Blue Ridge Parkway, or visiting the Biltmore Estate located two tenths of one mile away. Experience the diversity of four seasons with warm springs, green summers, colorful falls, and cool winters. The Chapman House offers a unique experience set within Historic Biltmore Village, located in the beautiful mountains of western North Carolina.
