About the property

Quaint Cottage In Historic Biltmore Village

Apartment, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

Built during the early 1900’s, The Chapman House is an original cottage of Historic Biltmore Village. It is part of a picturesque manorial village planned by none other than George Washington Vanderbilt (1862-1914), the founder of the vast and awe inspiring Biltmore Estate.

Initially, the European inspired village housed estate workers and was the center of community life, the location of schools, post office, train depot, infirmary, and church. However, through the course of time, a number of changes have occurred and the village has become a center for art, music, shopping, and restaurants resting just outside the entrance of the Biltmore Estate.

The Chapman House is the only cottage within the village that incorporates a mixed occupancy. A two-story structure, the upstairs apartment maintains a lodging facility complete with a full kitchen, bath, bedroom, foyer, living room, parking, and back porch overlooking the village. The downstairs is currently the home of Curtis Wright Outfitters, a retail store with goods for fishing, hiking and outdoor lifestyle.

The historic nature of the structure is preserved with original hardwood floors, doors, hardware, lathe and plaster walls, exterior appearance, and overall ambiance.

Enjoy the convenience of walking to dozens of local shops and restaurants, driving five minutes to downtown Asheville and the Blue Ridge Parkway, or visiting the Biltmore Estate located two tenths of one mile away. Experience the diversity of four seasons with warm springs, green summers, colorful falls, and cool winters. The Chapman House offers a unique experience set within Historic Biltmore Village, located in the beautiful mountains of western North Carolina.

Perfect

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect spot for our mother-daughter getaway! The charming apartment was very clean and full of wonderful furniture and historical details. This is not your typical VRBO! The location was also perfect...We were able to walk to all of the shops and restaurants in Biltmore Village, and downtown Asheville was just a short drive away. I highly recommend #5 All Souls Crescent to anyone visiting the area...We definitely plan to stay here again!

Best of everything

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed a week in this precious, clean, well appointed apartment. The building is very old and historic so you must love "old world charm" which this apartment has all around. But it is equipped with everything you might need...a well appointed kitchen, a comfortable Queen bed, a lovely living room and a fabulous private outdoor sitting area(partly under a canopy and another part for catching the sun). I would stay here again if I have the chance. You can walk to great restaurants and shops. You are very close to tourist attractions. There is parking available.

The only things you might want to be aware of: there are some steep but sturdy stairs leading up to the apartment. This doesn't bother me a bit but if you find stairs challenging, you need to be aware. During the day and early evening there can be some "city noise". The apartment is near a hospital so we heard several sirens daily. It is also near train tracks so we heard train noises/horns a couple times a day. But both sirens and train horns seem to go away by 10pm and the nights were quiet and peaceful. Street noises ramp up again in the early morning for trash collection and restaurant deliveries but they seem to go away quickly so the business district can cater to tourists without distractions during the day. As you can see, none of this bothered me...I just noticed it. I slept great and enjoyed the outdoor space a lot. I also give a 5 star review! Oh, and I made several excellent meals in the kitchen that is equipped with everything you need. If you are a couple whose husband wants to fish all day while you want to visit the shops or relax outside, this place is perfect. It has something for each of you. ENJOY!

Christmas at Chapman House

  • 5 of 5

This was our second time to stay at the Chapman House for Christmas vacation. Everything is so very clean, cozy and comfortable not to mention the convenience of the location itself. Despite it's location being in the bustling Biltmore Village you will find your stay to be very quiet, peaceful and private . Paige is an excellent attentive host whom I enjoyed. I highly recommend booking your stay at the Chapman House. You will find it to be a wonderful relaxing place to stay while visiting Asheville. We will definitely be booking again and again. Thank you Paige.
