About this property

The Mill @ Atlow Mill

Atlow Mill is a 17th century water mill, full of old world charm. Sympathetically renovated to a high standard, it is a large, luxury holiday home in the heart of the Derbyshire countryside, offering everything you need for the perfect getaway with family and friends: 5 comfortable bedrooms plus an additional snug with king-sized sofa bed, 3 bathrooms, cosy log burner, large kitchen, and a private garden with 7 person hot tub, wood-fired pizza oven, gas BBQ, patio and hammock. It is surrounded by rolling hills, a pretty brook and secluded woodland, and The Red Lion pub is just half an hour’s walk away.
The first floor:
The main living area is on the top floor with high vaulted ceilings, huge timber beams and original stone walls. At one end of the large open plan space, the lounge area comfortably seats 10 people and has a log burner and smart TV with complimentary Netflix for cosy evenings in. The dining area also easily seats 10 people for memorable dinners with friends and family.

Just through an archway is the fully equipped kitchen with everything you need for cooking up a feast including a large range cooker with an induction hob, full height fridge, plus further fridge-freezer for supplies and two dishwashers to make light work of clearing up.

The middle (ground) floor comprises:
Bedroom 1 – with king sized bed and en-suite shower room
Bedroom 2 – with king sized bed and private toilet with sink
Bedroom 3 – with double bed
Family bathroom – with double-ended, freestanding bath and large separate shower
The lower ground floor comprises:
Bedroom 4 – with king sized bed
Bedroom 5 – with two single beds
Bathroom – with large walk-in shower
Snug – with king sized sofa bed (set up by prior request only) and smart TV with complementary Netflix
Utility area – with washing machine and tumble dryer, plus a small fridge and kettle for easy access to drinks while you're on the lower ground floor
Outside space:
The Mill has its own private garden and patio area with outside dining for 10 people, a gas BBQ and a wood-fired pizza oven for perfect evenings outside, plus a 7 person hot tub and a hammock for lazing in under the trees. (Pizza oven, BBQ and hammock available April – October).

Beyond the garden, guests are welcome to explore the shared play area, the woodland and stream and make use of the public footpath that passes the property.  Children are also welcome to enjoy the rope swing and hay bales in the hay barn (weekends and school holidays only, up to 7pm).
Other details to note:
There is a dedicated parking area for up to 3 cars, plus an extra space right next to the front door.
We have two Pod Point charging points on site for electric or hybrid vehicles. There is a nominal charge, payable at the end of your stay, for using them
The hot tub is thoroughly cleaned between each stay, this means it may not be available immediately on arrival, or on the morning you leave, if we have same-day turnarounds either side of your trip.
There is good (free) WiFi throughout the property, but no mobile signal in the area.

A full basket of logs is included in your booking for use in the log burner and pizza oven, further logs can be purchased if required during your stay. Gas for the BBQ is also included.
Henmore Brook runs along one side of the site. The Mill garden is fenced off from the brook but it can be accessed easily from other parts of the site and is unsupervised. It is mostly shallow, and great for paddling, but there are two areas of deeper water (c.4ft deep).
Sorry, we don’t allow pets or smoking (including e-cigarettes).

Atlow Mill is a great place to celebrate a special occasion, but please be aware we are not a party venue.
There are two holiday homes on site, Atlow Mill and The Cow Shed. We also live on site so we’re on hand if you need us during your stay.
