Orrest Head Cottage, sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms. The property features: A lovely sun-filled lounge with contemporary leather sofas, an acoustic panelled feature wall with a recessed Smart TV. Downstairs toilet and shower room. Kitchen with dining area. Master bedroom with Lake views, super-king bed and extra single day bed. Family bathroom with shower over bath. Single bedroom with views over fields. Twin bedroom.

Orrest Head Cottage has parking for numerous cars plus a sun patio. The property backs onto the path to Orrest Head House, no crossing roads, just straight up onto the pathway.

We are also a few moments walk away from Windermere village where you'll find lots of independent shops restaurants and bars.

A fun family New Years Break

We had a wonderful family New Year’s break at Orrest Head House and could not recommend it highly enough. The property is ideal for a group stay, with ample off-road parking and plenty of space to relax and enjoy time together. The location is a real highlight. Although the house feels wonderfully secluded and peaceful, it is only around five minutes from the hustle and bustle of Windermere. There are excellent walks straight from the front door, which made it perfect for exploring the area without needing to drive. We also travelled with dogs, and the setting was ideal. They were able to roam in and out freely without any concern about traffic or nearby roads, which made the stay far more relaxing for everyone. The owner was extremely helpful both before and during our stay, providing thoughtful suggestions on local walks, attractions, and great places to eat. This personal touch made a real difference and helped us make the most of our time in the Lake District. Overall, Orrest Head House exceeded our expectations and was the perfect base for a memorable family New Year’s break. We would happily return and recommend it to anyone looking for a well-located, comfortable property for a group getaway.

Lovely house...

Lovely house, great experience from Liz the manager who was very helpful too. We had a wonderful stay at this house rental. The home was very clean, comfortable, and well maintained, with everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The location was excellent and quiet, and the house matched the description perfectly. The host was friendly, responsive, and made check-in and communication very easy. We would happily stay here again and highly recommend it to others. This was the 2nd time booking, love the location too. Thank you

A beautiful cottage with stunning views

We have thoroughly enjoyed another stay in Orrest Head Cottage. The cottage has stunning views and is in a very good position for visiting the lovely locations within the Lake District and walking distance of Windermere and Bowness on Windermere and of course Orrest Head walk which starts just outside the gate. The cottage has everything you need for a very comfortable stay and our two pooches Doodles and Cooper loved the welcoming drinks stand. The cottage is spotlessly clean with every amenity you will need. We will be returning in the future.

Lovely cottage in a great location

For a group of 5 adults the cottage was absolutely perfect. It was immaculately clean, well furnished and the owners have provided everything you need for self catering - plenty glasses, crockery etc in the kitchen and of good quality. There was a supply of tea, coffee, sugar as well as kitchen cleaning stuff. The beds were extremely comfy, good quality towels were provided, as well as loo roll and lovely hand-wash in the bathrooms. The location is fab, 2 minutes walk to the shops, bars, restaurants in Windermere. A short uphill walk to Orrest Head viewing point was absolutely gorgeous, especially as we were very lucky with the weather. We made use of the outdoor table and chairs at the front of the house for breakfast - only suggestion would be to make the back garden a bit more usable, maybe with some outdoor sofas, as it gets the evening sun which is lovely. Overall a fab weekend and hope to be back soon.

Highly recommended.

Our first time at the cottage and we loved it, so much we’ve already booked again. Nice size for 4 adults, baby grandson and dog, very comfortable and clean. Good location minutes walk to the village but private garden with parking. Highly recommended.

Fantastic Cottage in a stunning location

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at a spotlessly clean, comfortable and peaceful cottage which was well equipped with everything we needed. It is in a great location with stunning views and shops, pubs and restaurants nearby. We had lovely walks to Orrest Head which is just behind the cottage and trips by car to other attractions in the Lakes. We will definitely stay here again in the future.

Lovely cottage in great location

Great Cottage, well maintained 2 mins walk from Windermere shops etc and next to a lovely walk up to the viewing point of Orrest Head. Only improvements I would recommend are sharper knives, blankets downstairs and allow access to the private garden area immediately adjacent to the cottage or add some planting/pots to the area surrounding the cottage.

Four night stay at Orrest Head Cottage

Great place to stay. Four adults and one child. Great to have two bathrooms. Lovely lounge. Great kitchen and dining table and well resourced; we would have found a dishwasher useful , but hey ho. Easy to walk down into Windermere for a bite to eat etc. and on a bus route too. Really enjoyed our stay, would definitely book again.

Family break

This was the 3rd time I have stayed here and it never disappoints. The location is perfect for local shops and transport links to other locations in and around the Lake District. Very enjoyable stay.

Wonderful place for large groups

We had both properties for a 40th birthday celebration from work. They obviously attract and cater to large groups such as Hen Dos and birthdays and so I was worried the house might reflect this and be worn or shabby but it was beautiful and really clean. The location was great, near enough to walk to pubs and shops but far away enough that I didn't have to shout at my young colleagues to turn the music down. We found the 2 house set up great as 5 of us older ones or ones who need a break from large groups could go back to chill out or sleep. The large house was great for the main events with a pub room and a large kitchen for kitchen disco. All our interactions with the owners made us feel welcome. Would love to go back.

Fabulous location

Very nice and clean property in a great location. Easy to find and just a short walk to everything Windermere has to offer. Dogs had a great stay and loved all the walks Owner was lovely, and incredibly polite, she very kindly contacted us to let us know we had left a bag ‍♀️

Lovely stay in the cottage

We used the cottage along with the main house and it was perfect for providing the extra space we required for our party size. The cottage is set back from the main house so could be used as a separate booking. The cottage felt very peaceful providing gorgeous views of the lakes and fells. The bedrooms were perfectly set up to provide more than enough room for 6 guests. The only negative to note is that the kitchen felt very dated and did not seem to fit in with the rest of the house, but we did not need to use it as we had the main house and it was purely a decorative issue, all facilities were perfect. Thank you for a great stay!

A lovely stay with friends

We had a really nice stay at Orrest head cottage, the location was really good, the only downside was trying to get out with the car, due to having 2 blind corners & a very busy road. The cottage had everything we needed, a dishwasher would definitely have come in handy.

A peaceful family holiday

First time for us at Orrest Head cottage, The Cottage didn’t disappoint. It was comfortable, peaceful, very clean and well equipped. The location was spot-on for us as it was just a short walk out of the grounds and across the road to Windermere and Ambleside is just a10 minutes drive away. Plus Orrest Head walk which we have done on many occasions was just behind the cottage. We had a lovely stay and would definitely think of booking this cottage again.

Fantastic cottage in a great location

We recently stayed at Orrest Head Cottage with my 2 young children, their grandparents and dogs and really enjoyed our stay. The cottage was a good size for 6 people and the outside space was great to let the dogs run around. Location is brilliant with a short walk to shops and bars and also a nice walk up to Orrest Head through the back garden. Although the property is on a hill so the walk into Windermere & Bowness might be a struggle for someone that cannot walk far, the view makes up for this and it's only a short drive to some of the main attractions in the Lakes. We will definitely stay here again in the future and would recommend to all types of family wanting to enjoy Windermere and Bowness.

A beautiful stay

We thoroughly enjoyed our week away at Orrest Head. We had friends staying in Orrest Head House and found both properties to be beautiful. Extremely comfortable and in a perfect location. Everything about Orrest Head Cottage was perfect and we would definitely return!

Excellent value for money in a perfect location, will definitely be back!

We had such a great stay in Windermere at Orrest Head Cottage. The location is a couple of minutes' walk from Windermere itself, and a short drive (or local bus) from neighbouring towns. It had plenty of space for us and is a rare find having 3 large bedrooms in one property. We walked each morning up the Orrest Head trail which was perfect for our dogs. The walk up was about 20 minutes and a nice walk.
