The view in the photographs was not the view from the home. Big trees are now in the way, so very limited view.The driveway is in dire need of regrading, barely got up it with brand new tires, Front Wheel drive SUV.The home was not professionally cleaned, although not horrible just not commercial grade clean. Also, the towels provided were so thread bear. You could see through them, and rips and snags. Gross. Every closet filled with a jumbled mess. Sofa is ripped. Tap water smells bad.

Nothing about this rental was acceptable, and we left within 1 1/2 hrs of arriving - as quickly as we could book a hotel in Asheville. We were contacted by the owner shortly after paying the full amount for the rental regarding the potential need for a 4wd vehicle to reach the house. When we said we had a front wheel drive CRV, we were assured that “… yes, you will be fine.” It was hazardous at best, and a danger to our family; should have been in the property disclosure/description - but that may not have mattered, since that wasn’t factual anyway. We needed beds for 4 people and both of the futons were broken (leg fell off of one when opened and the other was filthy with food crumbs and wouldn’t stay flat when opened. The entire downstairs smelled moldy and the extra bedding in one of the bdrm closets was not even usable because of this. One of the downstairs bdrm doors wouldn’t close and it had a hole in it. There were spider webs inside the downstairs and we saw live insects in 2 downstairs rooms; we were hardly there long enough to look. If this home met VRBO’s expectations for putting their name on, then I will be re-evaluating vacation rental companies moving forward. At best, the property pictures and information misrepresented the actual condition of the property and more closely resembled a lie. Lots of people rely on proper vetting of these properties when they schedule vacations, and losing money and incurring this kind of disappointment is criminal.

A wonderful and peaceful spot that was the perfect weekend getaway. Also, our host was incredibly kind and very quickly fixed a small issue we had.

Not to our taste

We had to clean the property when we arrived. There were worms and other insects crawling on the rugs. The air conditioner upstairs never really worked. The interior decor was 1970s/1980s. The closets were filthy and cluttered and could not be used. It was hard to read the password for the internet. The outside deck had not been cleaned in a while, so we did not use it. We were uncomfortable staying there. We tried to stay away from the house as much as possible and made the best of our vacation on the parkway, in the Smoky Mountains and in Asheville. We have regularly rented VRBO homes in the past and never had any problems.

Nice stay

Nice place with plenty of room. The biggest challenge was finding it - there needs to be more markers after you leave the main road and start up the gravel road. Beautiful view from the deck.

It was as described in the write up

It was great for 5 adults and a baby. Quiet and beautiful surroundings. The communication with management was perfect. The house is a little tired, we did choose to vacuum and clean it upon arrival as it appeared it hadn’t been cleaned recently. But it was good for what we needed.

NOT AS ADVERTISED AND THEN CHARGED ME EXTRA

In general, the property is not as advertised. The exterior deck and home is filthy with green mold everywhere. The hot tub was dirty, and the water stinks of rotten eggs. The interior of the house needs to be completely repainted and the beds are not queens they are full sized. The closets were crammed with the owners personal things and very unorganized. The interior of the home needs a deep cleaning and all the walls need repainting. Scuffed, drab, etc. I don't mind the steep drive because we used to live in asheville and we are used to that, but i can see how others would be concerned. Worst part, is we didn't complain about anything the whole time, just dealt with it (that water tho....so gross). We left that house cleaner than when we came and upon our return the owner charged me $300 saying there was dog poop on the carpet (no way that little 8 pound dog hasn't had an accident since he was a puppy plus he was crated if we were not there) and that the bathtub was lined with dirt? No. Neither of those things are true, and we inspected every room before we left.

Visit to the Biltmore Estate

Very comfortable mountain home located in a very quite area. Just a short ride to the Asheville and the Biltmore estate. Setting on the deck enjoying the view of the mountains The ride up to the house from Paint Fork road is interesting but not a reason not to rent. Just take you time and enjoy the ride.

I really loved the views

The views were breath taking and you can’t get those just anywhere. House was spacious. Very private. Beds were beyond uncomfortable. I bought a mattress cover but it was no help for the upstairs bed. Luckily the last night we moved downstairs and that bed was bearable. Kind of dirty. Needed some major dusting. I can imagine it’s hard to dust those high ceilings but everything was covered in dust. Hot tub had no lighting that we could find. Madw it hard to enjoy at night as the downstairs deck is very dark. Couch had holes in it. Just needs some updating and a good deep clean. We really did enjoy it just left very unrested and expected better cleanliness.

Treacherous climb and spiders

The house was fine, with the exception of spiders downstairs. When you turn off the main road that goes to the property, the climb has two 90 degree turns that require backing up to make the full turn. There is a drop off that must be maneuvered to make these turns. I don’t think there is an adequate description of these turns. If my husband had not been driving, we would have left. By the time we reached the house our brakes were smelling burned. We were driving a HD 3/4 ton short bed truck.

Great Mountain Escape

The house is tucked away partway up a mountain. The view is incredible. There are cozy amenities including a working fireplace and hot tub. With bedrooms, bathrooms, and family rooms on both floors everyone had ample space and privacy. Guests should keep in mind that groceries are 20 min away and delivery is out of the question. We also recommend bringing bottled drinking water (tap has a sulfur smell that makes it unappetizing).

Beautiful view

We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely home! We especially enjoyed watching the leaves change color throughout the week. We saw shooting stars right from the hot tub! Ana was very responsive to all our questions!

Wonderful Stay

Our vacation was very nice in general and our stay at this house was no exception. It’s exactly what you expect it to be from looking at the listing. Surprise Birthday Trip

This stay was absolutely amazing. This Cabin is an actual dream. The beds were super comfy and the view is outstanding. This was a surprise birthday trip for my boyfriend who then proposed during it. Everyone loved it and we will definitely be booking again. The only thing I recommend is bringing a light and speaker for night time around the hot tub.

Beautiful views and good value

Spectacular sunrises and sunsets were enjoyed. Kitchen was well supplied and overall house was comfortable for our family of 6. Road and driveway up were easily negotiated as we closely followed owners directions. Owner always promptly replied to questions. Will come back.

Mountain Getaway

The four is us enjoyed our stay at your lovely property. It is as close enough to do everything we wanted to do. Downtown Asheville and the beautiful Parkway. I don’t have 4 wheel drive, which would have made the driveway a bit easier. However, our friends from Green Bay had a 4 wheel drive which made it much better! The house was lively but could have been a bit cleaner. On the whole we had a great time!

We are busy parents and working professionals but we always have time to accommodate our guests. I like to correspond by email so I can get to it when I can without interruption. Phone calls tend to play out into phone tag :)
