Overview

About the property

Just 4 to 5 blocks from tons of boutiques, restaurants, clubs & bars

La Villa by The Riverwalk is a historical Sears & Roebuck Company home that was built in the 1950’s. This gorgeous villa has been refurbished to its original condition with antiques of that same era. There were only 70,000 Sears & Roebuck homes built in the North America.

The Villa By The Riverwalk front office/'gift shop offers cold refreshments like sodas, fruit juices, fresh floral arrangements, gifts, jazz memorabilia, Texas souvenirs and vintage antiques from the United States, the United Kingdom and Portugal. If you are here on business and your spouse is looking for something to do that is fun and educational we have a floral school on the premises and can offer personal floral arranging classes while you’re on business.

La Villa by The Riverwalk's Veranda is where you can sip a glass of your favorite wine while waiting for your food order to arrive or while waiting for your LYFT, Uber or Taxicab drivers to pick you up.

La Villa By The Rivrewalk offers you four main rooms. The living room/office area which has a large 72 inch TV/Movie screen and includes a DVD/Blue Ray player and free access to Netflix and Pandora. The bedroom/movie area has a second large 55 inch TV/Movie screen and also includes a DVD/Blue Ray player and free access to Netflix and Pandora. The kitchen area with handsome cherry-wood cabinets and elegant black tile is decorated in wine decor novelties and has a small third TV which also includes a DVD/Blue Ray player and free access to Netflix and Pandora. The refurbished bathroom includes the original bath tub installed in 1950's so you go back in time and have a warm relaxing bubble bath. In order to keep this villa historically accurate no showers were furnished in the stye of Sears home, so if you really need a villa with a shower we may not be able to accommodate you.

Outside in the Villa Courtyard under pavilion #1 you can enjoy an intimate breakfast, lunch or dinner. Later under pavilion #2 you can enjoy a cool or warm dip in our Jacuzzi/Spa and relax alone or with that special someone. The spa area is decorated with colorful tropical fish and craps to give you a festive tropical feel. Or you can surprise that special someone for an anniversary or birthday present and let us set up a private concert where you can invite up to 15 of your close family members and personal friends. Personal concerts cost range depending on the musical artist you want us to obtain and the elaboration of setup required for each concert. We can acquire local, regional and even international Grammy and Emmy Award winning musical artists. We arrange all contracts and riders and we can also arrange for tables, chairs and catering if needed for your private concert.

Please refer to our picture gallery featuring female jazz vocalist Candy DeClue from San Marcos, Texas with backup band saxophonist David Villanueva and his band from San Antonio, Texas at our 2015 4th of July concert party.

Please note: this is one of the main areas of San Antonio since we are so close to the San Antonio Riverwalk and the Pearl Brewery Center, so the City of San Antonio has allocated millions of dollars to redo the sidewalks and streets in this whole area, however that should not have a affect on your stay here at our villa.

About Anthony C. Tobias M.L.T., T.M.F., R.M.C.

I was born, bread and raised in San Antonio, Texas. My background was originally in the medical profession as a medical laboratory technician working for one of the largest medical firms in the United States for just under 10 years.

I later went on to open Anthony's Floral Designs & Gifts and three years later I opened and taught at Anthony's School of Floral Designs of Texas at San Antonio. I own the San Antonio Summer Art & Jazz Festival L.L.C. and in 2015 I was hired as the Managing Director to coordinate and operate the Leon Valley Fall Art & Jazz Festival for the City of Leon Valley. At the age 24 I was a published author of the book Floral Designs, The Art of Designing with Flowers.

Today I have my own column in StreetTalk Magazine under The SA Jazz Scene and I manage and oversee a great nonprofit that gives back to so many and so proud to be able to do so. In my life I have won many awards in the arts, in business and for community service to San Antonio. I feel that God has blessed me in so many ways and it is through him that I have been able to accomplish so much in life and able give back to others in return.

Free Keurig sample and one bottle of wine with a minimum of 3 night's stay. Two free Keurig samples and one bottle of Champagne with minimum of 7 night's stay or more. Although we are mainly setup to accommodate two individuals, we can accommodate up to four more adults at a cost of $55.00 more per each person after the first two guests. Please note: We are located just three to four blocks from the San Antonio Riverwalk, The Pearl Brewery Parkway Center and downtown San Antonio. Since Euclid Avenue. The street at our front office is one of the main thoroughfares leading to these great venues. The city has allocated millions of dollars to redo the street and the sidewalks in front our Villa, however that should not have any affect on your stay here. So please note, there may or may not be some construction in the area if you stay here. This has not been a bother any of the guests who have stayed here so far this year. Once this constitution is done we will increase our prices by 25%.

Comfortable and Cozy

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I enjoyed the location of the property very much. The place was in a great spot central to many sites and restaurants. We walked from the place to The Pearl several times. We also walked along the Riverwalk all the way from downtown (by the Alamo) back to the property. It was a long leisurely stroll with beautiful scenery all around, which made the walk very enjoyable. Using Uber helped us get around to other locations that were too far to walk. The road (Euclid) is currently under construction so we heard the trucks moving dirt early in the morning and could feel the ground moving from them, too (the next door neighbor's dog didn't seem to like the noise either). We opted to walk down the street to get picked up by Uber drivers due to the construction. Food delivery was tricky, too. Anthony was helpful and he gave us our privacy. We had a slight issue heating up the hot tub on our last night there but eventually got that resolved. Not having a shower took some getting used to, but after 5 days we got the hang of taking baths. We enjoyed having access to Netflix and the large TV's. Although we didn't cook at the place, it was nice having a full-sized fridge and access to a stove/oven if needed. There were plenty of linens and towels and two window A/C units that kept the place at a very comfortable temperature. We will definitely be back to San Antonio!

PROPERTY WAS WELL MAINTAINED AND ATTRACTIVE.MR. TOBIAS WAS EXTREMELY CONSIDERATE AND HELPFUL

  • 4 of 5

UNFORTUNATELY, OUR VISIT WAS CUT SHORT DUE TO THE CONSTUCTION ON THE STREETS AROUND THE PROPERTY THAT MADE ACCESS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT. IN ADDITION THE WEATHER WAS VERY WET WHICH COMPOUNDED THE ROADWAY PROBLEMS. MY WIFE AND I ARE IN OUR MID SEVENTIES AND I THINK THIS PROPERTY IS MORE SUITED FOR YOUINGER RENTERS.MR. TOBIAS COULDN'T HAVE BEEN NICER AND DEALT WITH THE SITUATION PROFESSIONALLY AND WITH GREAT UNDERSTANDING.

Did not meet expectations

  • 2 of 5

This apartment did not meet our expectations. In all aspects, the apartment was very cluttered. There was very little room to place our luggage and the 3 sides of the bed were against a wall. Though it was hard to share because of the walls, the bed was rather comfortable. There was a lot of dust on the clutter, blinds, and drinking glasses. There was no central heat so even with the use of the small space heaters provided, the bathroom was very cold. The host told us he would heat the hot tub at night. The hot tub was only warm one of the two nights we requested. The page also advertised a bottle of wine and two teas or k-cups. There was only one k cup available and we didn’t see a bottle of wine for us. Although road construction was listed on the page, the renovation of the neighborhood made walking downtown uncomfortable. Taking Uber downtown, though unexpected, was very affordable. The backyard and patio area are very nice and would be a lovely place to entertain, even featuring a small stage and a hot tub. Overall, not what we expected.

Had a wonderful time at a comfortable quaint home with a very agreeable host. Great place for two persons. Anthony the host was super helpful. The home itself was very conveniently situated near the Pearl and riverwalk. Highly recommend.

Good location, lots of hospitality, charming atmosphere

  • 5 of 5

Small place with a big feel. Fully equipped kitchen. Complimentary bottle of wine (when booking at least two nights). Cozy garden area (with outdoor spa/hot tub)). Comfortable bed. Lots of interesting antiques and music posters. Great location--close to Riverwalk and Pearl Brewery--you'll want to visit both.

Anthony will make sure you have everything you need!

Quiet and relaxing get away close to the Pearl

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I traveled to San Antonio to celebrate our anniversary. Anthony cheerfully greeted us at his Villa and showed us around the property. The Villa is ornately decorated with a spacious back yard and a lovely deck to relax on. The spa was a nice bonus, very clean and comforting after walking the Riverwalk. Anthony checked on us to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed, even offering to bring us Ice Cream. We would definitely recommend the location as it is very close to the Pearl district.

Owner's Response: It was really great meeting Keri and her husband. They are a fantastic and extremely nice couple. I got to mingle with them a bit and learn about them and their hometown. Keri actually left the place cleaner than we had it before they arrived, LOL. I was busy in the office as usual and they were kind enough to offer to pick up a cheese hamburger and some great hot tater-tots from Armadillo Hamburgers, a San Antonio local favorite hot-spot around the corner from our Villa. It was greet meeting both of them and I am very glad they were able to spend their 10th Anniversary with us. Wishing them another great 10 years plus some. Anthony
