About this property
A beautifully themed Cotswold cottage with a modern but classic country interior
A boutique two-bedroom cottage with modern living areas beautifully appointed with bespoke furniture and finishes. We have lovingly assembled dramatic, full-sized, textured murals, carefully-chosen soft furnishings, and custom wall art to create a contemporary home-from-home feeling that at once invites our guests to explore the whimsical and mysterious connections with Arthur Conan Doyle’s late Victorian England. Reimagine his iconic consulting detective on a new, yet familiar case in the unspoiled beauty of our quiet Cotswolds village. The cottage theme begins in the cosy living room, where a tropical wall mural sets the tone for our botanist's retreat, complete with study desk and period microscope. Across the hall is a modern kitchen-dining area complete with solid oak kitchen chairs and sheepskin throws. Upstairs, we offer two beautiful bedrooms: a luxurious main bedroom with queen-sized bed, twin closets and ensuite shower room; and a twin bedroom with two single beds with a playful jungle theme.
Merripit Cottage is nestled at the end of a private drive on the very edge of tranquil Broad Campden, with a beautiful view across the bucolic Gloucestershire countryside. We are only 15 minutes on foot from the famous market town of Chipping Campden, renowned across England for its uniquely preserved terraced high street, as well as its many local pubs and restaurants. A short drive or pleasant afternoon’s hike away stands Broadway Tower, with its breathtaking scenic views across the Vale of Evesham. The town of Broadway itself, notable for the Lygon Arms where Oliver Cromwell is thought once to have stayed during the English Civil War era, is only 12 minutes away by car; and the iconic town of Stratford-upon-Avon, birthplace of William Shakespeare is only a 27-minute drive. Or why not enjoy one of the many local footpaths that criss-cross the very same green, undulating landscape that influenced J.R.R. Tolkien, and pay a visit to the Bell Inn in the local town of Moreton-in-Marsh, considered by many as the inspiration for “The Prancing Pony.”

Our dog was welcome and well provided for. The twin beds in the second bedroom were more for children as they were small singles and we are adults! Also the TV is apps only and therefore very disappointing.
The property was excellent and very well equipped. The location was fabulous with lovely walks right on the doorstep - Brilliant pub just down the road that served great food. A really perfect getaway.
Clean and modern place, perfect for exploring the Cotswolds
Good location, clean house, perfect for exploring the surrounding area. Check in instructions could be slightly better as we didn’t receive them until we got there and asked for them.

Thanks for the useful feedback. We have taken steps to improve the check-in procedure, as you indicated.
A peaceful base for exploring the CotswoldsWe had a fantastic stay in this very quiet and peaceful area, ideal for rest and relaxation. The location is great for easy access to the Cotswolds, and the outdoor space is perfect for yourself or enjoying time with the dog.The accommodation had everything we needed for a true home-from-home experience, and communication with the host was excellent throughout.A real highlight was the lovely local pub just a 5-minute walk away, following a nice dog field walk opposite, dog friendly, with amazing food and warm, welcoming hospitality. The only small downside was that the living room seating felt a little restrictive and not the most comfortable for colder evenings indoors. But overall, a great stay in a lovely, tranquil setting. Thank you.

Why they chose this property
My family has lived in the immediate environs of Chipping Campden for several decades. My grandfather was born and raised in the nearby villages of Buckland and Laverton, respectively, and many of my forebears are buried in the beautiful cemetery of Buckland Church.
What makes this property unique
Merripit Cottage is a modern property with all the usual conveniences today's guest come to expect, yet it remains true to the local Cotswold architecture with its beautiful honey-coloured stone exterior and farmhouse character. Inside, we have created a whimsical theme with careful attention to furnishings and decor to enliven your stay with literary references to the great Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The cottage embodies the rural retreat of an unnamed botanist returning to live in the English countryside after travels abroad in Costa Rica. Admire the tomes of learning on our authentic 19th Century desk, complete with brass microscope, and discover the hidden clues that reveal the owner's secret identity.
