We appreciated the thoughtful touches upon arrival—wine, chocolates, and a clean space—but the stay was ruined by misrepresentation and the host’s unacceptable behavior. The listing says “full house,” but it fails to mention a second unit in the backyard just 15–20 feet away, directly facing our patio. Worse, there’s another unit inside the house, connected by a door. We had a key for the deadbolt, but the other side could unlock it freely. When we asked the host, she lied repeatedly, claiming the door couldn’t be opened from the other side and that she added “tape” for security—which turned out to be a flimsy 3–4 inch strip of duct tape. When we raised concerns, she became hostile:Dismissed it as normalClaimed she hadn’t been paid yet, we were free to find something else.Yelled at us, told us to leave multiples times, accused us of “trying to control her”.Hung up on us and stopped responding to our attemp to reach her (phone, texts).Only after escalating and emailing on vrbo email inbox did she send someone to install a lock on our side, the next day. We were stressed and missed plans due to how this was handled.I had asked the host before booking if she would be staying at the property. She vaguely said she “didn’t know,” and never disclosed that other guests would be on the property. The lack of transparency, false statements, and aggressive conduct from the host made this stay deeply uncomfortable. I would not recommend this property.
