Beautiful Widebeam Boat - London

The beauty of canal boat life with the space and practicality of a 2 bedroom apartment. Enjoy an escape on a unique boat, surrounded by all that London has to offer!

At the bow is the wood panelled master, double bedroom in a cosy nook. Next is the bathroom with shower. Then the office which doubles as a fold out single bed bedroom and lastly the open plan Living room with sofa bed, projector, dining table and kitchen! Out on deck is a seating area for when the sun is out!

The boat changes location from time to time but will be static during the length of your stay. Do check with me on the location during your dates

Living off grid offers freedom but it also means a different life to bricks and mortar. Electricity is from solar panels and so is unlimited by day but not at night. Water, gas, diesel, and coal for the winter are all filled roughly once a month. There is an eco, composting toilet; most reliable system on the canal network :)

The host was very welcoming and was always available to answer our numerous questions. Unfortunately not everything was stocked for the wood stove so we had some issues heating the boat on the first day, but later on in our stay all got restocked. Overall, the boat is lovely, in a good location, and provides a unique experience for staying in London.

Staying on a canal boat gave us a different perspective on London. The area near the boat was diverse and interesting and within easy walking distance to a tube station.

Great experience

Stayed for a month, enjoyed the time on the boat, canal life, waterfowl interactions, morning birdsong. A wonderful home base to explore London.

Great alternative to staying in London.

Lovely well maintained boat.With wonderful log burner and comfortable bed.Alex is a great host who keeps in touch throughout the booking process.

Wonderful stay and unique experience

We loved our stay on the houseboat, the host is great with communication and met us to explain everything about the houseboat. It has everything needed for a comfortable stay and we enjoyed seeing the swans and ducks swimming by each day. Hope to come back again soon.

This lovely boat was an absolutely fantastic choice for our week in London! My husband and I loved the peace and quiet of coming back to the boat after a busy day. It was quite refreshing to be so close to everything in London yet escape to our own private space to return to in the evening that was separate from the hustle and bustle of London. Alex was a superb host - he was very responsive and helpful with everything and he checked in with us regularly to be sure we were enjoying our time and didn't need anything. The boat itself was the perfect size and quite cozy and well thought out. This was our first time staying on a boat and we will definitely be back!

Peaceful and comfortable

We had a lovely stay on Alex’s boat. What a treat to be able to enjoy all the amazing opportunities in London, and then to be able to return to a peaceful and comfortable (and quiet!) boat at the end of the day. Also starting the day with a coffee on the deck, watching the birds, was an unexpected delight. Thank you Alex!

Fun Off Grid Experience

I’ve always wanted to try living on a boat and this was the perfect way to get a taste! The boat is wonderfully kept and Alex was very communicative in helping me get adjusted to the amenities. I loved walking along the river each morning. If you’re looking for an adventurous yet cozy stay, look no further!

Perfect stay!

We loved our stay on the houseboat for a four-day family visit to London. Everything was just as described and Alex was so quick to reply to all of my inquiries. He offered suggestions for the area and gave a thorough, but easy, description of how to manage (and get the most out of) the boat. Can't thank him enough!

Quiet London

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our time on Alex's boat. We were conveniently docked feet from a small cafe and multiple public transit options. We traveled and did busy tourist things during the day and came back to have some quiet time by the fire and decompress from the day. We even had a visit from a fox friend one evening! Loved our time in London and particularly the special moments on this houseboat!

Fabulous houseboat experience

Staying on Dorothy was a truly fabulous experience! We are used to living off-grid in a caravan, but this was most definitely a considerable step up from that! Canal living is so sociable, and this is such a relaxed way to visit or work in London. Dorothy is perfect - well equipped, super-comfy bed, WiFi if needed, loved the home cinema vide and the port-hole windows, and even loved the composting toilet! And Alex was always at the end of the phone to help with any wee snags or questions we had. Thanks Alex (and Dorothy!) and we will definitely be back

Wir hatten 7 tolle Tage auf der Dorothy. Alles war wie in der Anzeige. Liebevoll eingerichtet, persönlicher Empfang bei dem alles rund ums Boot gezeigt und erklärt wurde. Guter Kontakt mit Alex während des Aufenthaltes. Wir waren sehr zufrieden und kommen gerne wieder.Alles Gute für Alex und seine kleine Familie. ;)))

Einfach schön, wenn...

Die Entfernung zur U-Bahn hängt natürlich vom Standort des Bootes ab: erst hatten wir ca. 400m, dann 900m zu laufen.Daher sollte man schauen, wie man den Weg mit Gepäck zurück legen möchte.Die Komposttoilette ist vielleicht nicht für jede/n das Richtige, auch da vorher bitte überlegen, ob man das möchte.Aber ansonsten können wir nur sagen "GO"Entspanntes Abschalten in einer tollen Umgebung ohne pünktlich irgendwo am Buffet o.ä. stehen zu müssen und ein grandioser Support durch den Eigner!Weiter so und herzlichen Dank!

Superbe expérience !Le bateau change régulièrement d’emplacement ; lors de notre séjour à Londres, il était amarré dans le quartier de Mile End, à une dizaine de minutes à pied du métro en longeant le canal - direct depuis la gare de Saint-Pancras. Difficile de faire plus pratique ! La péniche est joliment décorée et très confortable. Retrouver le calme et le mode de vie des "boaters", en pleine nature au cœur de Londres, après une journée à parcourir de nombreux kilomètres dans la ville, est un véritable luxe. C’est une façon totalement différente - et très agréable - de vivre Londres.Nous n’avons pas eu la chance de rencontrer Alex (il avait la meilleure des excuses !), mais il a été très disponible et réactif tout au long de nos échanges. Un grand merci à lui et à Lee pour leur accueil !

Wir hatten wunderbare 5 Wochen auf dem Schiff. Es ist wie glamping mitten in der Stadt. 500m von Kings Cross hatten wir einen ruhigen Liegeplatz! Wir waren an mehreren Orten und konnten so ganz verschiedene Viertel der Stadt kennenlernen. Alex ist sehr nett, war immer schnell zu erreichen und hat uns alles sehr gut erklärt.
