Located in the historic pedestrian center, in front of the ancient Porta del Forno, on the road leading to the Baronial Castle, about 50 meters from City Hall and the town center—which offers dining options, a small playground, a soccer field, and a picnic area—near which the parking lot is located. Places to Visit: VILLAGE OF GESSO, GESSOPALENA (5 km, 12 min by car) Description: The ancient village of Gessopalena, also known as the “village of silence,” is situated on the eastern slope of the Majella. The name derives from the Latin “gesso” due to the presence in the area of crystalline rocks from which gypsum is extracted. In the village, you can visit and admire houses built entirely from this type of stone. VERDE DI BORRELLO WATERFALL (34 km, 37 minutes by car) Description: The “Del Rio Verde” waterfalls are the highest natural waterfalls in the Apennines, featuring three distinct drops along the rock face. The Rio Verde, whose headwaters lie on the border with Molise, is a tributary of the Sangro River. ACQUEVIVE Taranta Peligna (23 km, 42 minutes by car) Description: The Acquevive River Park is located on both banks of the Aventino River and is one of Abruzzo’s must-see destinations.
