This apartment was disappointing – while it has had some refurbishments - to the main bathroom and bedrooms, overall it’s very shabby, a very old kitchen with a mixer tap that spouted water and significant black mould around the sink, and the main carpet is damaged and stained, and most walls are very much in need of strong cleaning and repainting. We also had problems the WIFI’s internet connection not working, so no wifi and no tv, and a very unhygienic smell from the closed main bathroom when we arrived. The host did respond quickly to supplying the wi-fi password, but not so much to fixing the wifi/tv until we asked further. He did send someone very late that night, but that didn’t work.

Lovely British Fawlty Towers Experience
I sensed something was wrong when the owner never responded to messages I him sent prior to leaving the USA. Finally reached him from the train to Cambridge. He met us at the property and told us that he had bad communication with Vrbo and that workmen were coming to replace the windows the following day so we could only stay for 1 night, but he had an alternative, equivalent flat for the second night, The flat was clean and just as described. I had come with my teenage son and adult daughter to attend a function at the University. The flat was perfect because it provided each a bedroom and had facilities for us to offer brunch for other family members arriving the following morning. We had our brunch and waited for the owner to show us our alternative flat for the second night. He came just before we had to leave for the function and the second flat turned out to be a studio appt which someone was obviously living in judging by the food in the fridge and toiletries in the bathroom. My son and I shared the bed and my daughter slept on 2 pieces of foam that came out of the couch on the floor (pic). We would have got a decent night's sleep despite everything if the neighbors had not started playing loud techno music at 3:30 am. When we went past the original flat next morning there was no sign of work being done on the windows so I presume we were double booked.
