From Montaione it is possible to organize excursions to San Gimignano, Volterra and San Vivaldo (known as the Tuscan Jerusalem). The beaches of the Etruscan Coast are easily reachable in an hour's drive. Also visit the historic village of San Miniato and stop for a truffle dinner. About 3 km away you will find an equestrian center where you can organize a horse ride. A renowned golf course can be reached within a 10-minute drive. The region lends itself very well to mountain biking.
