The Old Byre at Llandetty Hall Farm Brecon Beacons Historic Barn Farm Stay
The Old Byre dates back to the 17th Century & forms part of a charming range of historically listed farm buildings at Llandetty Hall Farm, situated in the heart of the stunning Brecon Beacons National Park.
The barn conversion was competed in December 2021 & is set in 15 acres of private pasture on the Monmouthshire and Brecon canal.
This is the third barn we have sympathetically restored & converted here at Llandetty Hall Farm and provides two large bedrooms over two storeys.
You will enter The Old Byre from the Grade II Listed farm courtyard through your own large double front door. You will enter into the cosy and very characterful living space which contains the fully fitted kitchen and dining area. The living space contains a sofa (becomes a double size sofa bed for two guest), a wood burner and TV area. There is underfloor heating below the reclaimed timber parquet floor. There is a WC under the beautiful oak staircase which leads from the living area up to the large bedroom on the first floor. The upstairs bedroom contains a very comfortable super king size bed which can be split into two full size single beds if preferred, a small double sofa bed, a built-in wardrobe, two bedside tables and a chair. The bedroom is open to and overlooks the living area below and is open to the oak framed roof structure. The bedroom leads into the large fully fitted en-suite bathroom which contains a freestanding slipper type bath with shower over, wash basin and WC. Back on the ground floor the living area leads to the downstairs ensuite bedroom. This room contains two full sized single beds which can be joined to create a super king sized bed if preferred. The ensuite shower room contains a large luxury shower as well as a wash basin and WC. The room has a large wardrobe, dressing area and chest of drawers. The kitchen is adjacent to the main entrance of the barn and contains an oven, an induction hob, a fridge freezer, sink, microwave, toaster, kettle, ample storage and a full range of crockery, cooking and kitchen utensils.
The barn was converted from what was once the cowshed of the farm complex and retains lots of historic features including stone walls, oak beams & trusses and a reclaimed solid teak parquet floor.
Opposite the barn is the communal games room open to all! A lovely dining / relaxing / playing space for guest use, including pool table and darts board. Dining space available to seat up to 14 guests.
The Old Byre is located at the North West end of the historic Grade II listed range of farm buildings adjacent but separate to the main farmhouse. The barn is entirely self contained with its own front doors. In front of the barn is a private seating area within the farm courtyard. Behind the barn is a private garden area adjacent to the canal. The farm is situated within 15 acres of private pasture with the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal running through the land. Guests are free to explore the surrounding private fields and use the private and direct access onto the canal towpath situated just behind the barn complex. Well behaved dogs are welcomed.
The Old Byre is the third of three holiday cottages that we are creating here at Llandetty Hall Farm. The first, The Old Salting Barn, was completed in July 2020 and is located on the opposite side of the farm courtyard. The second, The Old Dovecote is adjacent and adjoined to the Old Byre.

Ă propos de lâhĂŽte
HÎte : Neil Robert Startin
We are Jim McCulloch and Neil Startin and we bought Llandetty Hall Farm in December 2017. We moved here from London where we had spent about 20 years working as Architects.
Voici pourquoi lâhĂŽte a choisi cet hĂ©bergement
When we first viewed the farm we immediately saw the potential of the characterful buildings here and fell in love with the location and setting. We were so excited about the conversion work we began designing the layouts before the purchase of the farm completed. Within weeks of moving in we had decided exactly what we wanted to do with the barns.
The long process of planning and listed building approval started shortly after and we gained permission for the scheme about 12 months later. We started the building work just as the pandemic hit us in Spring 2020 and completed our third barn, The Old Byre in Autumn 2021.
