Newer lovely cabin in Birkebeinerbakken Sjusjøen

Welcome to Birkebeinerbakken at Sjusjøen! This is an area in Sjusjøen consisting almost exclusively of high-standard cabins, with the Birkebeiner trail right outside the door for both cycling and SkiBirken. The cabin offers a waxing station for perfect gliding and ski preparation, as well as a sauna for recovery after your outdoor activities.

The location is nearly at the top of Birkebeinerbakken (Birkebeinerbakken Panorama), allowing you to put on your ski gear in the cabin and head straight out to the famous trails in Sjusjøen. This area is renowned for its magnificent freshly groomed ski trails, with the winter trail passing about 200 meters from the cabin. It leads you through over 350 km of freshly groomed trails in the Ringsakerfjellet, Lillehammer, and Øyerfjellet trail network.

There is also an alpine slope available at Hafjell (about 40 minutes by car) or Sjusjøen (about 15 minutes by car). Sjusjøen has a large grocery store, sports shop, and several cafes and restaurants. Now you can also have food delivered from Lillehammer by drone!

In the summer, this is a perfect starting point for long mountain hikes on foot or by bike. The mountain biking network on Ringsaks- and Øyerfjellet is fantastic. There is also an extensive road network for regular mountain biking with or without electric assistance. The summer also offers many great activities for children, such as horseback riding, playgrounds, and swimming. This is a good starting point if you plan a trip to Hunderfossen Family Park or Lilleputthammer Amusement Park.

There are excellent fishing opportunities in the area, with large pike caught in Sjusjøvannet in recent years. In other nearby rivers and lakes, you can catch nice trout.

The cabin was built in 2017 and invites to total relaxation and coziness after your daily activities. It includes a spacious living room with comfortable sofas and chairs, a modern fireplace, a dining area for 9 people, and a well-equipped large kitchen. The cabin also has 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, and a loft.

We recommend a mountain hike to Lunkefjell, which is located at about 1000 meters altitude. You can reach it starting from the cabin. Here, you have a beautiful view in all directions. Take a break at Store Lunken; it's idyllic, and the shallow water surprisingly offers good bathing temperatures. You can also catch nice trout here, as in many other nearby lakes.
