Enjoy our natural beauty surrounded by wooded mountains and creek, with deck, overlooking the fish pond. Hike on our 45 acres or continue on to forest service land. Our apartment has an eclectic decor of modern, country and Asian with all new appliances; a handmade solid oak shaker style pencil post bed; a handmade futon couch; fireplace; and sauna. Our space is relatively free of allergens with a tile floor and solid wood ceiling, walls and cabinets. The distance from our home to the apartment is about 100 yards. There are some slopes for sledding very nearby. We will provide transportation (if you don't have 4 wheel or all wheel drive) up our driveway if there is snow on the roads.

Why Norma Morrison chose Roan Mountain
When Patrick first saw our land he fell in love with it and realized the potential for a hydro electric system. Forty years later, he designed and constructed our own micro-hydro electric system that generates the amount of electricity that we use. We love living here and have very deep roots like the trees that surround us.
What makes this Guest House unique
This place on Ripshin Mountain has served us as an ideal location to raise our daughter and build memories with our grandchildren. We have a fish pond that is stocked with hybrid blue gill fish and is 12 feet deep. For an additional fee you may fish with or without your own fishing tackle.

A peaceful getaway
My husband and I stayed here for five wonderful nights. Norma and Pat are so welcoming and made us feel at home; even their dog, Loki, became our friend. The surroundings and the studio apartment are so relaxing, peaceful, and comfortable. There is a full size refrigerator, microwave, stove top, toaster oven, and a coffee pot for extra conveniences. Plus, a Sauna, for a special treat. We saw beautiful sunsets and had peaceful mornings on the deck. Tiger Creek Rd is a windy road, but the directions from Norma were spot on.
Patricia and John were model guests and became fast and true friends. It's a joy to share our place with such wonderful folks.
wonderful, restful...loved the apartment.
the property itself is breathtaking. my only difficulty was finding it as I was a late arrival and it was a dark, curvy mountain road. I would suggest arriving before dark.
We'll be back!
Great location and Norma and Patrick were wonderful hosts! Everything was very clean. Be prepared that there is no cell phone service at their cabin, but that makes for a quiet getaway! I would definitely recommend visiting!
Thank you for your kind review, Sheryl. We have recently discovered that guests can use wifi to make calls using their cell phones. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay. We hope to see you again during your next break.
as close to nature as it gets!
This is as real as it gets!
We took a spontaneous trip to the mountains with out 3 small children under 5 and stayed at the Ripshin Mountain Studio. We went in July to escape the heat in the NC piedmont area. The beauty of the mountains and cool breeze was very refreshing!
The cabin was exceptionally clean! The floors were supper clean! We love to take our shoes off at home and everyone always walks bear foot but when we stay at vacation rentals usually the floor is filthy and I either have to wash the floor during our stay or we have to feel uncomfortable and keep our shoes on. Well at this cabin the floors were very very clean! This was important as we had little children with us. After we put the kids to sleep we were able to enjoy the sauna. It was a wonderful addition to the cabin. The water in the cabin comes from a spring that is on the property - best tasting water ever! Even our 3 yo noticed this! Imagine taking a shower in spring water that does not stink of chlorine!
Overall the cabin was very comfortable. We were able to cook our food in the full kitchen and even cook the fish that we caught in the pond!
The property is beautiful it is a real gem! Our children LOVED playing in the crystal clear spring fed streams and we all enjoyed the beautiful wildflowers all over the property. And butterflies!!! I have never seen so many butterflies in one place even the butterfly conservatories do not come close! Thank you for sharing such a tranquil and quiet place with us!
Anatasyia, Your review brought tears to my eyes. We loved having you and hope we will see again very soon. You two have done an excellent job of parenting your three well behaved and charming children.
My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful weekend here. It is so peaceful and beautiful. The owners are extremely helpful. The cabin had all the essentials and was nicely decorated. The sauna was awesome to have after a long day fishing! It is perfect size for a couple or couple with child. We'll definitely be back
feels brand new
Very clean and efficient. All of the furniture and cabinets are handmade and well-crafted. Beautiful setting. Host is just perfect. We would go back in a heartbeat.
