Tucked away on a quaint little farm just east of Bradenton, 15 minutes to shopping, and 45 minutes to the beach is the perfect, affordable getaway. Combining the old Florida feel with a fresh, tropical flair, you will love all this vacation rental has to offer. You will feel like you are home the minute you enter this adorable studio guest home boasting a full kitchen/living area, full bathroom with shower, and queen sized bed. This studio "barnominium" sits atop the cleanest barn in Florida that's home to two mini donkeys and two mini horses, as well as 20 chickens, 3 rabbits and 3 dogs (gopher tortoises and duck families are a bonus as well). Fresh eggs will be delivered to your door upon request, courtesy of our happy hens. Sit on your balcony and gaze across the pond stocked with fresh fish, out onto the farm view. Had a bad day? Snuggle one of our sweet donkeys, always ready to make you happy (and them too). From the beamed ceilings to the peace and quiet that your tourist traps can't provide, you will never want to leave. Why Paul and Maureen Hudson chose Myakka City

When we first set foot on this property, something drew us in. There was something special in the air. It was a feeling of "home", of comfort and peace, of never wanting to leave. We have had others say they feel the same way when they visit. There is something very special about Hudson's Hundred Oaks Farm. We are lucky enough to call it home. You can call it your home away from home.

What makes this studio unique

Well where else can you snuggle mini donkeys as much as you'd like?

Guestbook comments from the owner

Our days at Hundred Oaks Farm are coming to an end. Although we are stepping forward into something new and so exciting, we will definitely miss this place. At the end of October we found ourselves in an akward transitional stage and we totally lucked out to discover what we now affectionally refer to as the “Cutest Darn Donkey Barn”.

Over the last month we’ve endured an epic battle for our next chapter of life. It has been an emotional roller coaster and had we not been bunked up out here we may have lost our minds. The peace of country living couldn’t be better than this farm. Each time we arrived back or were leaving for somewhere we were greeted by donkeys (Bruiser and Monster), two calves (Lola and Layla) and the new addition, Asher the pony. Each animal has its own distinct personality. Fresh eggs from the chickens were second-to-none and we will miss having those. Friday nights occasionally picked out country music miles away whilst most mornings laying in bed listening to the birds.

This is a great place put together by a terrific family. They are as nice as can be. The kids are extremely intelligent, knowledgeable and ever so polite. They have really got an amazing thing going out here! As we pack our belongings again, we feel as if we are leaving family behind and hope to visit again in the near future. Our only regret is not sweet-talking Declan into sending us away with one of her fabulous pies!

If you’re in the Suncoast area or planning a visit, check to see if they have availability. The rates are great, the place is safe, not all that far from the city, the countryside is peaceful and the “Cutest Darn Donkey Barn” is clean and charming. Grab a week’s worth of supplies, head on out here and just unwind!

Rest-filled and peaceful!

  • 5 of 5

I can’t wait to book my next stay! We spent a week here for my friends golden birthday and it was perfection! I initially thought we would be too far out from enjoying the beach but we were pleasantly surprised at just how close we were to Bradenton Beach, Sarasota and Anna Maria Island! We loved exploring AMI and drove out 2 days in a row. After AMI it was fun driving down to Long Boat Key and looping back to Myakka!

This beautiful Barnominiam is pure peacefulness and relaxation! We had everything we needed to cook a few meals, (fresh eggs everyday!) enjoy cups of coffee on the porch, wash clothes and even play with the donkeys, chickens and mini horses! We spent a few days hanging out on property, swinging in our hammocks and enjoying the abundant nature around us.

Our hosts were awesome and so accommodating! I can’t wait to plan my return trip to this beautiful place!

Met all of our expectations for a quiet, secluded time away.

  • 5 of 5

The studio was very clean, well equiped and quiet. It fit our needs perfectly for a quiet, warm week away. The hosts were very accommodating in satisfying our needs, friendly and helpful providing local advice but were not intrusive. We would definitely rent again if in the area.

Had a great time

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time - it was everything it was said to be. We caught fish in the pond and explored several state parks in the area. The miniature donkeys were very friendly!
