Stylish Converted Barn - The Barn at High Gables

The Barn at High Gables is a newly renovated, beautifully presented, Cotswold holiday retreat which sleeps four guests (no children aged 12 or under permitted), in two stylish ensuite bedrooms, each with sweeping views over the surrounding countryside. The ground floor open plan design is both practical and elegant, with whitewashed oak beams and gentle green accents, creating a sense of rustic countryside charm. Bi-fold doors and full height windows to the rear of the barn create a light, airy living space, opening onto a gravelled courtyard. The comfortable outdoor seating is perfect for soaking up the sunshine and creating a sense of seamless indoor-outdoor living. Tucked away in a peaceful corner of the Cotswolds, The Barn at High Gables is situated at the top of the village of Bourton-on-the-Hill, adjacent to Batsford Estate and 2.3 miles from Moreton-in-Marsh. Village amenities include a local shop, inn, church and Bourton House Garden. The village provides access to many scenic walks, across the rolling countryside.

The Barn at High Gables is a self-contained property in the grounds where the owner lives
The Stow Horse Fair is held twice a year, typically on the Thursday closest to 12th May and the Thursday closest to 24th October, however, we would recommend checking the exact date ahead of placing your booking. This is a traditional fair for gypsies and travelling people to meet up and trade which dates back to 1476 when its Charter was granted. Stow is very busy for a day or two before and after each fair, and a number of shops, pubs and restaurants are closed. Whilst many visitors enjoy the colour and vibrancy associated with the fairs, other visitors prefer to avoid Stow on these dates

Lovely home

We really enjoyed our stay at the Barn at High Gables. We appreciated the breakfast supplies and toiletries that were .We like the location because it was quiet but near to many villages. Nick and Jan were very helpful in ensuring that we had everything we needed and providing recommendations for local attractions and places to eat. We would definitely stay again

A Beautiful Barn

We have thoroughly enjoyed staying at The Barn. It has been built to a high standard and is extremely comfortable . We found it had everything we needed for our stay and was very well kitted out. There is a lovely private garden in the rear which is excellent for lounging in and a large parking space at the front. Our host was friendly and helpful and we wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

A lovely stay in a lovely property decorated and furnished to a very high standard.

This property is exceptional in every way and the communication from both Stay Cotswold and the owners directly was excellent. It's really very difficult to find any criticism but the only thing worth a mention was the lack of blinds in the main living area and one of the bedrooms has a super kingsize bed (two zipped singles) and the other room only a standard double bed. Would any of this put us off coming again or recommending? Absolutely not. Thank you for a most pleasurable stay.

We booked this last minute and we were so lucky it was still available for our dates. This is a beautifully appointed accommodation in a great location giving easy access to many of the most popular locations in the Cotswolds. A Cosy, Well-Located Cotswolds Barn

We had a wonderful December stay at this beautiful Cotswold barn conversion. The location was ideal for exploring the area, and the barn itself was warm, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed. It had all the amenities you could need, with the Alexa being a particularly nice touch that added to the experience. The kitchen was very well equipped, making it easy to cook and unwind in the evenings, and the space truly felt like a home from home. We used the barn as a base to visit Broadway, Stow-on-the-Wold, Moreton-in-Marsh, Stratford-upon-Avon, Cirencester, and the Malvern Hills - all easily accessible and especially charming at this time of year. Overall, it was a fantastic place to stay and somewhere we would happily return to.

An idyllic location

We have stayed in a number of holiday cottages over the years but have never actually left a review before. However, this cottage and its location really deserve a mention. Bourton-on-the-Hill is a superb base for exploring the Cotswolds. There are so many wonderful places nearby — Hidcote, Broadway and Snowshill are all only a short drive away, along with many other lovely villages and days out. The cottage itself is wonderful. It is equipped to an exceptionally high standard and has clearly been thoughtfully prepared for guests. Everything was immaculately clean on arrival and it was obvious that a great deal of care and attention has gone into every detail to make the stay comfortable and relaxing. We would absolutely recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a peaceful and well-located place to stay in the Cotswolds, and we would very much hope to return ourselves in the future.

Couples break.

We had a lovely stay at The Barn, Nick & Jan were brilliant in communication when resolving an issue with the internet that was out of their control ! The accommodation is lovely and designed to a really high spec. It’s a short drive to some lovely villages within the Cotswolds a pub within walking distance (horse & groom) and 5 mins down the road Moreton-In-Marsh has everything you need. We will definitely be returning to the Barn.

Pre Christmas break

We spent two nights at The Barn. We called to see if we could have an early check in and were pleased with the communication and allowed to check in early. Newly converted barn with a wonderful Christmas tree and Christmas music playing on the TV when we arrived. Very high quality finish through the accommodation. Bed extremely comfortable and all facilities impeccable. Alexa became a good friend during our stay! We will be back x

A Wonderful Christmas Stay at Barn at High Gables

We spent Christmas at the Barn at High Gables and had a truly wonderful stay. The barn was beautifully decorated for the festive season and immediately made us feel at home. It was warm, cosy, and very well equipped, with everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing holiday. The location is peaceful and perfect for a Christmas getaway, offering lovely surroundings and plenty of privacy. The hosts Nick and Jan were very welcoming and attentive, making sure our stay was enjoyable from start to finish. We were warmly welcomed with fresh bread, eggs, and milk. We also enjoyed visiting the cosy Horse and Groom pub nearby for a drink, which added to the charm of our stay. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to spend Christmas and would highly recommend the Barn at High Gables to anyone looking for a special and relaxing stay.

An Exceptional Holiday Rental

An absolute treasure in the Cotswolds. Suited to couples, and families with responsible teenagers. Every detail has been carefully thought out and catered for. Nick and Jan are caring and attentive hosts who’ve set the bar high and delivered a 5-star luxury rental situated within easy access of plenty of lovely villages and local attractions. Beautiful Cotswold Property

Upon arriving at The Barn at High Gables we were so impressed. The property is beautiful and the outside is very clean and well managed. Once you open the door to the property it is amazing, it is flooded with light and feels really airy. The whole property is very modern with Smart facilities. The bedrooms are huge and the wet rooms are perfect, the beds are very comfortable so you get a great nights sleep. We loved it here and it is so central for all the places you will want to visit in the Cotswold area. We would definitely stay here again if we visit the Cotswold area in the future.

A real Gem in the Cotswolds

The Barn at High Gables is absolutely beautiful. The location is perfect for visiting all the nearby Cotswold villages and all that the Cotswolds has to offer. The Barn has been finished to a very high standard and a warm welcome awaited us, from our hosts, with fresh bread, eggs, butter and jams and a bottle of bubbly in the wine fridge. The views across the countryside are beautiful. I stayed here with my daughter, we had the luxury of an ensuite room each. The kitchen was very well equipped. Everything was just perfect (apart from the weather) but this didn't dampen our spirits. Would highly recommend this little gem and I am sure we'll be returning.

A wonderful break and the perfect location, accommodation and service provided by the owners.

We had the perfect holiday helped by the stunning accommodation, location and expertise of the owners. The Barn has been recently renovated and is modern, spotless and comfortable. The accommodation is a very high standard with lots of technology built in. The location was peaceful and offered the perfect gateway for walking and visiting nearby villages. The Lynwood Cafe in Moreton in Marsh is particularly lovely. Their coffee and sausage bap are worthy of a visit. Nick and Jan are super friendly, approachable and helpful. They helped us navigate the lighting, fire and heating and nothing was too much trouble. There is plenty of parking and a charger for EV. We have no hesitation in recommending the Barn. It is a beautiful place.

Three of us stayed and if we could give six stars out of five we would. The Barn has been beautifully renovated, the decor is perfection, and the attention to detail and comfort is faultless. The owners were nothing but helpful and easy to reach. All we can say is ‘Wow’. We will all be back. Loved, loved, loved it. Thank you for allowing us to share such a wonderful ‘home’.

Fantastic stay at the barn at high gables

We had a lovey weekend break in the Cotswolds. The barn has been converted to a very high standard with quality fixtures and fittings making it a very comfortable stay. The kitchen was particularly good and the fizz, sourdough, butter, eggs and milk a really lovely touch. The bathrooms are wet rooms and these worked well although maybe a squeegee might be a good addition. Sadly the weather wasn’t good enough to sit out but the garden with furniture would be a great place to enjoy the fizz! Nick gave all the information we needed and was quick to respond. Would highly recommend staying here and if we come back will be booking again.

My, we found a gem.

This was a late booking and we dropped on an absolute gem in the north Cotswolds, only the fourth set of guests. The conversion has been brilliantly done, it is spacious and equipped with a high standard of fixtures and fittings. The outside space is very generous for parking and the garden space is very private. The host was very accommodating of the needs of a particularly elderly guest and any minor issues were responded to very promptly. We found the setting very convenient for visiting notable north Cotswold venues and the host has a range of good recommendations for eating out. We would have no hesitation in retuning.

Amazing stay at The Barn, High Gables

We spent a long weekend at The Barn in High Gables and this beautiful holiday home was above our expectations, it is stunning! We arrived and was greeted by Nick the owner who ensured we had everything we needed. The Barn was spotlessly clean and a generous welcome pack including eggs, milk, butter, jam, cookies & shortbreads, a sourdough loaf, tea & coffee pods & as we were the very first guests a bottle of champagne which was such a generous surprise! was provided. The beds are very comfortable & it was great to have two en-suite bedrooms, the showers are fantastic. The property has been finished to a very high standard & there wasn't anything we could fault. The location is great, we visted both Clarksons Farm & his pub The Farmers Dog, both of which are approx 25 mins away & we'd definitely recommend. There is a 24hr garage which is about a 3 minute walk away who sell Groceries should you need anything which is handy. We without any doubt would highly recommend this beautiful holiday home and we hope to return one day.

Wonderful weekend

A very beautiful barn, finished to an extremely high standard. We were 2 couples staying and lots of space for us. No expense has been spared when doing this accommodation. Lots of high-tech gadgets wihich can be overridden if you’re not a fan of Alexa! There is a very good pub down the road (Horse & Groom) and we had a beautiful Sunday lunch. The location is out of the way so very quiet in surroundings. You could possibly walk down to the pub but the main road leading to it is busy, steep and no pavements on some places. Our only negative and this is just our opinion is that in the ensuite wetrooms (they are both wetrooms there is no separate shower cubicle) is the lights are on a timer and stay on for 10 minutes when you enter. Whilst they do ‘dim’ at midnight to a low luminance the light is still very much visible through the glazed bathroom door. An override switch would be better as if you’re a light sleep it will disturb you!
