Luxury Waterfront Home-Now booking through Summer 2026

Perched along a luxurious peninsula jutting into the Long Island Sound, the Obstreperous Octopus sinks its tentacles into the sand and represents the finest in CT WATERFRONT real estate.

Completely renovated, the Octopus boasts 4 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms and an open concept chef's kitchen with an expansive wall of glass leading out to a composite deck and endless views. Once outside you can choose to relax on one of three deck spaces or the sandy beach below.

The kitchen is appointed with Bosch appliances, new custom cabinets, a six burner commercial Wolf range top and quartz counter tops. You can prepare a crustacean feast all while taking in breathtaking views of the Long Island Sound or sit and relax in one of the five bars tools located around a large two-tier island. This kitchen will not disappoint.

For those looking to unwind, the large family room area includes a pair of over-sized Restoration Hardware chairs and a cozy sectional situated around a 65 inch smart TV with sweeping views of the water and coastline. The double width sliders open to provide access to the attached composite deck with cable railings.

Enjoy a casual morning in the master bedroom as the sun rises over the water. It has a king bed and a picture window overlooking the water. The attached spa inspired bathroom has a double vanity with marble counters and a huge tiled shower with glass door.

The lower level includes three guest bedrooms, a full-sized bathroom, laundry and hangout area with a 55 inch wall-mounted smart TV. The wall of windows keeps this space light and bright and a Restoration Hardware full-sized daybed provides additional sleeping space for guests.

We are conveniently located close to shopping, dining and entertainment: Clinton Crossing premium outlets 5 minutes away, Mystic Seaport 40 minute ride, New Haven 30 minutes and the casinos are about 45 minutes or a $45 Uber fare.

This is probably the 4th time we stayed at this property and will probably not go anywhere else it is so perfect. Great shopping and restaurants nearby. Great hostess. Everything you need plus the beauty of having beach front.

We had a wonderful stay at the Obstreperous Octopus! We rented the home for my brother in laws wedding at Waters Edge Resort. A quick drive to all the wedding festivities and the perfect place to come back to and unwind. The home is family friendly and fit our family and my sister in laws family perfectly. Our kids loved playing on the private beach and sleeping in the bunk bed room. Morning coffee was a real treat on the deck overlooking the water! It’s a great house for entertaining, everything was very clean and the home well maintained for a vacation home. Tara was great to work with, helpful with recommendations and made our stay a breeze. We hope to come back again!

Girls weekend

I can’t say enough about this property. It’s our 3rd visit and it has everything. The property is clean and has all the amenities you need plus more. The view is absolutely incredible. Location is great. Plenty of great restaurants and shopping.

Girls weekend

This is our second year staying at Tara’s home. And yet again, the house and Tara’s hospitality exceeded our expectations. And the view is beautiful. We hope to stay again next year for our annual girls weekend!

Amazing Girls Weekend!!

Perfect Family Vacation

What you see is what you get! We had high expectations for our stay and they were completely met. Very family friendly property so that we all had our own space, but could also enjoy the communal spaces. The view was gorgeous!!

90th Birthday Celebration

Wonderful house for our out of state family to celebrate my Mother in Law’s 90th birthday. Great kitchen and entertainment space for cooking and gathering. Missed using the outdoor space due to rain but the view made up for it.

Excellent Property

The space was better than imagined and the views of the sound were more incredible than what you see in the pictures. Very clean, spacious kitchen and fully stocked to cook like you're at home, comfortable beds, and lots of space for the entire family to spread out and enjoy. This was probably one of the best VRBO locations I've ever stayed at. I highly recommend this property, and will definitely be staying here again when i'm back in town.

A Dreamy Beachfront Getaway in Clinton, Connecticut – Unforgettable Christmas Experience!

We had a magical stay! This luxurious home had breathtaking water views and catered to our every need. The tranquil sounds of the waves and mesmerizing sunrises over the ocean were unforgettable. It was wonderful to spend Christmas here! We loved taking family photos on the stunning beach and unanimously agreed this was one of our best holiday experiences. We are already dreaming of returning to this idyllic beachfront haven. Thank you for an unforgettable Christmas getaway!

Family Get Away

Family and a couple close friends joined us for the weekend. The house is lovely with stunning views. As it was April, we weren't able to enjoy the beach, but would love to come back in the summer. The gourmet kitchen inspired us to stay in and cook one night. We were there to see our daughter perform at the Goodspeed Theatre (30 min away), and the drive to East Haddam was very pretty.

Girls Weekend

Although many rentals may sleep 10, this rental has a beautiful large dining table that seats 10. We were all able to share a meal together and prepare food in the beautiful kitchen or relax in the large living room area that all connected so that nobody was missing out on each other’s company or conversation. The view of the Long Island sound was also wonderful and the accommodations we’re very nice.

Absolutely wonderful beach stay!

The Obstreperous Octopus was an exceptional home to spend our week in Clinton. We had perfect weather, and it made our stay at the beach house so pleasant. The home had everything we could ever imagine to make our stay excellent. The rooms are so spacious, the view is amazing, the amenities were all there to make every day a day of fun and relaxation. I would recommend this as a place to stay, the longer, the better!! We went for walks every day and it is such a lovely neighborhood! All of my family agreed this was a great week and staying here made it a 10 out of 10!!

Wedding Weekend

12 Sols Point Road in Clinton was the perfect place to kick off our daughter's wedding weekend! The house is spacious for 7 adults and our 2 year old grandson, impeccably clean, well-stocked for entertaining and the views are amazing!! The owner was accommodating and accessible. I highly recommend for anyone visiting the Connecticut shoreline. Thanks to Tara for everything!

Beautiful property with beautiful views

Better than I even imagined. Beautiful home. Magnificent views from the decks. Wonderful strolls along the beach. Great neighborhood for daily walks. Indoor and outdoor games supplied. Unbelievably fully stocked kitchen with gadgets, utensils and more. Near great restaurants and multiple grocery stores. Clinton crossing a few miles away for shopping. Agent is wonderful.

Fabulous place for relaxing evening on the CT Shoreline

We booked this property conveniently located to have family stay to enjoy the beautiful CT Shoreline. Super quiet and amazing walking and biking area. Perfect Chill if that is what you are looking for. We hosted a small family event prior to our daughter’s wedding and it worked perfectly. Spacious open entertaining areas both inside and out. There was a serious corn hole competition right on the beach and our hosts had these readily available. Grounds are well maintained and parking is conveniently located to great outlet shopping as well as grocery and incidentals. Hard to leave this peaceful plafe..

Beautiful House in a Gorgeous Location

The house was stunning and the beach was beautiful. Fit our family of 8 with ease. Every bed was comfortable. The house was clean and spacious. Perfect for large groups. Only one downside- we needed to bring all our own towels. Beach towels I understand, but it would have been great if there were bath towels as well. Hosts are lovely and easy to communicate with. We appreciate all they did for us. Even left flowers and wine since it was a milestone birthday!

Wonderful home!

The "Obstreperous Octopus" was the perfect place for our family of 10 to stay and celebrate a special birthday long weekend. The home is impeccably clean, furnished with everything you can possibly imagine and need, and has a beautiful water view. Although it was February, we were all warm and comfortable visiting this beautiful home. There are enough TV's for everyone to watch whatever they want, as well as fast and easy to access internet. Summer guests can take advantage of swimming, boating and just relaxing on the multi level deck. I can't really comment on things to do in the area, because we never left the house, other than to drive about 10 minutes away to the grocery store! Tara was very easy to contact and responded quickly to our questions. We highly recommend this home!

One Amazing Rental

You will never regret renting the Obstreperous Octopus. The owners have done a masterful job designing and maintaining an incredibly beautiful home. There is so much light running throughout the home because of the many floor-to-ceiling windows/sliders. The kitchen is outstanding. The beds are very comfortable. The location is great--about five minutes from restaurants, grocery stores, etc. There's room to entertain a crowd without ever feeling crowded. And the view! The view is absolutely breathtaking at sunrise, whether you watch from the sand, the balcony, or the couch inside. We could've stayed forever.

A Beautiful Home in a Beautiful Location

Tara and Derek's home on the water is absolutely amazing. The pictures posted don't do it justice. I was here with eight of my girlfriends enjoying a long weekend and it was perfect and super clean. The bedrooms and bathrooms were all roomy enough to fit all of us with room to spare! The kitchen, dining, and living areas were so open to fit nine of us comfortably without ever feeling crowded. The view from that area is absolutely gorgeous. You feel like you're on the water without even being outside. We were lucky enough to have decent weather so we were outside and even though most of the porch furniture was put away, we had enough to enjoy listening to the waves. All in all we would totally go back!

Nothing short of amazing

This rental is a 10/10! The house is beautiful and comes so well appointed both indoors with lots of cooking and serving supplies and also outdoors with a closet full of beach chairs, umbrellas and toys. We had small children and you just can’t beat the easy beach access! The kids loved being able to walk out so far on the soft sand at low tide. The beach was a little rocky/shell covered but the house provides two industrial rakes to groom soft sand. The beds and pillows were all good quality and the extra den downstairs gave ample space for two families or extra space for kids to play. And there are so many outdoor seating options. Even just morning coffee on the balcony was such a treat. The owners were also exceptional in answering my questions promptly in advance of the week and you can tell they take great care of their property and are invested in providing a lovely stay for guests. We are hoping to rent again!!

Sibling reunion weekend

This beach house was everything we were looking for and nothing we were not. Having rented an average of two homes per year for family reunions, I’ve seen them vary widely in their approach. Things that are annoying: lack of TP, dish and laundry soap as well as pages of warnings and directions. This home has none of those drawbacks: nice touches like shampoo and conditioner, family games and books, throws to cozy up with on the deck. The vibe was not like staying in a strangers home but rather like staying in your own dream home. Superior decor, comfort and high end finishes. Well stocked kitchen utensils for casual or fancy cooking. Parking was ample and as described. Although we had no kids with us this time, it is welcoming to families and my young grands would love it. My two oldest sisters shared the primary bedroom on the main level so after a few steps up they never had to use the stairs again. Beautiful, spacious, clean and so lovely to be right on the water even though it was rainy. Hope to visit again.
