Throughout the year, the Solent comes alive with glistening sails and gentle sea breezes from the legendary Cowes Week regatta, where the town buzzes with excitement and colour, to the quieter months when local sailors glide out at sunrise, their masts catching the first golden light. Even if you’re not on the water yourself, there’s something magical about watching the boats drift past from the esplanade, hearing the gulls and the gentle clink of halyards in the breeze.

Cowes:

The bustling port town of Cowes sits at the mouth of the River Medina, divided into two distinct towns linked by the regular floating bridge chain ferry. Both have plenty to offer visitors: Cowes is world-famous for yachting, with superb facilities for all kinds of watersports, excellent restaurants, friendly inns, and unique independent shops. East Cowes is home to Osborne House, Queen Victoria’s Italian-style country retreat a tour of the royal apartments and magnificent gardens is a must.



Cowes is the perfect base for exploring the rest of the island from sandy beaches and lovely walking country to picturesque chines and family attractions.
