Selsey may be famous for its crab, but it’s also a Blue Flag beach perfect for swimming (bring swim shoes for the shingle), bird-watching at RSPB Pagham just a stroll away, or simply unwinding as you gaze out over the same sea views that inspired the Desert Island Discs theme.

When the coast gets breezy, retreat to the sheltered garden, a peaceful suntrap with plenty to keep kids entertained— toy box, rock pools, a great playground, and a brilliant little fish-and-chips shack nearby. (No arcades—just the good stuff.)
