About this property
Station Masters Cottage - Ravenglass
Nestled in the enchanting coastal village of Ravenglass, you can immerse yourself in its rich history. Explore Muncaster Castle, a mere 1.5-mile walk away, and the Roman Bath House, just 0.5 miles up the road. Embark on an adventure by strolling along the picturesque coastline, discovering sandy shores during low tide. Experience the unique charm of the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, affectionately known as La’al Ratty, on its scenic 7-mile journey from the heart of the fishing village into the breathtaking Eskdale Valley. Revel in the beauty of the surroundings with leisurely walks by the water or gain a more panoramic perspective. For those seeking adventure, the heart of Wasdale, boasting England's highest mountain and deepest lake, awaits just 11 miles away, offering an opportunity for wild swimming. This destination is not just a place; it's a gateway to a captivating blend of history, nature, and scenic wonders, ensuring an unforgettable holiday experience.
Entering the railway cottage, you are welcomed into a charming lounge and dining room that pays homage to the golden era of rail travel. Infused with creative touches reminiscent of a railway museum, the room boasts a dining area perfect for unhurried breakfasts and leisurely dinners. Two sofas, including one that converts into a sofa bed, are strategically placed beneath the window, offering a cosy spot to watch trains arrive at the station amidst puffs of steam. The ambiance is further enhanced by the wood burner, ensuring a warm and inviting atmosphere. Enjoy a relaxed evening of board games, cards or read a good book. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need to prepare a hearty breakfast or evening meal. The nostalgic charm extends to the bedrooms, with the master bedroom overlooking the railway line and offering a double bed and en suite shower room. The second bedroom provides twin beds and faces the rear of the property. Both bedrooms are equipped with a TV and USB sockets. At the end of the hallway, a spacious and modern shower room awaits, complete with a double walk-in shower, heated towel rail, and shaver socket.
Outside the former station master's cottage, there is complimentary parking for one car. A secluded patio at the rear provides an intimate setting for morning coffee or sundowners. With seating, it's an ideal spot to unwind. Step onto the front of the cottage, and you'll find yourself on the railway platform, where you can enjoy the spectacle of narrow-gauge steam engines preparing to transport passengers to Eskdale.
