About Wendy Cude

Originally I'm from New Zealand but I have now resided in Texas for 27 years. Married to Kevin and Mum to 4 grown children, we live on 240 acres of beautiful central Texas land that has been in the family since 1888.

I have been an RN for over 35yrs and have for the last 15 yrs worked locally as a School Nurse. I love to cook or be outside gardening and looking after the many animals on the property. Recently we have become Apiarists and currently have 10 working bee hives.

Why Wendy Cude chose World

This land has been in my husbands family since 1888 and we built our forever home here in 2007. We were both raised on the land and love being outdoors and have a wonderful assortment of animals and pets.

Kevin is an avid potter and woodworker and enjoys creating and building.

What makes this cottage unique

Gourmet breakfasts or romantic baskets are an option, delivered to the cottage via picnic basket for an additional fee. Please contact host for further info if interested. Wellspring Cottage is located on a working ranch, and should guests be interested there is opportunity for interaction with the miniature goats and cows, while hosts are present. Access to the cottage is still under construction and parking may be off site at times, however there is a golf cart for guest use to transport luggage and get around the property.

There is a large one acre pond a short walk from the cottage that has a cookhouse and fire pit for picnics if so desired. There is also a two person kayak available for guest use, but no life jackets are supplied. Swimming and fishing from the dock is permitted, the tank is well stocked with bass, catfish, perch and some crappie, on a catch and release basis. Bring your own fishing poles or contact host if you need supplies.

The quintessential get-away-from-it-all

  • 5 of 5

Wendy's little cabin in the woods is the perfect get away for a couple that wants to be secluded and relaxed, who wants a well stocked little kitchen, a warm homemade bread with honey from Wendy when you arrive, a comfortable bed, huge bathtub, great shower, wildflowers, picture windows, great front porch, fire pit by a pond, a gazillion stars at night, and I will bore you if I go on. Super clean, and lot's of craft shopping, several wineries, and good food in nearby small towns. I'll be taking the wife back as soon as possible. Oh, and do order the breakfast, it's as good as all the rest. I have not exaggerated here...

Beautiful, Relaxing, Beyond our expectations!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful weekend! The pictures do not do this cabin justice! It was beyond our expectations! We appreciated every detail that went into the cabin and was amazed by everything. The cabin was away from the hustle amd bustle of everyday life and we very much enjoyed the peace and quiet. Pleasant mornings sitting on the front porch just enjoying the view and feeding the pet deer. We would highly recommend anyone to stay here!

This secluded cottage is perfect in every way.

  • 5 of 5

This shady cottage is private and peaceful. Any and all amenities are first class. You have comfort and seclusion. The only distractions are natural and of your own choosing.

Wendy is warm and gracious. If it is solitude you seek...this is your spot.

Outstanding Cabin on an amazing property with the best hosts! Will be back!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I were looking for a relaxing weekend getaway in the Hill country and Wendy and Kevin’s cabin was the perfect spot! The cabin is in a great location, being a very easy and beautiful drive from DFW. The cabin was the cleanest rental we have ever stayed in, looking brand new! The attention to detail was truly amazing, as you can tell they have cared for their property! Once we got to the cabin we felt like we had all of the property to ourselves! We drove around the property and went to the pond and went fishing(they have great bass fishing!) swimming, and relaxed on the dock for a perfect getaway! You are also very close to the city of Hamilton so it was a very easy drive into a great little town for dinner/lunch. We would strongly recommend their cabin and will most definitely be back. Wendy and Kevin are great people and they have an awesome property!

The property was secluded and the cabin was amazing. The attention to detail was incredible. The setting just promoted rest and relaxation. No TV to distract us from our time away. Everyone made us feel so welcome, including the family pets! This definitely makes our list of top getaways! We will be back!

Car: necessary

Favorite places to eat at around the community are Crossfire Cafe at Circle T arena, Central Perk bistro, Wenzel's Lone Star Meat and Dutchman's Hidden Valley. Stop by the Farmer's market for fresh veggies and baked goods. Visit Ramsey's art gallery on the Square.

Walk or ride the 3 mile bike trail that runs through the center of town and check out Past Tyme's antiques and Queen Bees old treasures. Drive 20 miles north to Hico to visit Wiseman's House of Chocolate and Hico Popcorn Works, along with the many antique stores the community has to offer. Or spend the afternoon at Magnolia Market in Waco, just 60 minutes away, or Homestead Heritage's craftsman village at Elm Mott a short way north of Waco. A little more locally, branch out and visit the Veldhuizen Cheese Farm in Dublin where they are making both cows milk and sheep milk cheese. Come home and relax on the front porch swing, and once the sun goes down climb the hill behind the cabin and watch the Milky Way makes its magnificent debut.
