About the host

Hosted by PALMISANO ROSA

Host profile image
We are a local family: Giuseppe, Rosa, Maria and Isabella. Giuseppe is the owner, a civil engineer who inherited the house from his granddad Giuseppe and supervised its recent renovation. The renting activity is managed by Rosa, an economy graduate, while Maria and Isabella provide the cheerfulness of their age and keep their parents busy outside working hours.

Why they chose this property

The house has been closed for many years, kept as it originally was, with all its architectonic features well preserved, and surely worth a visit; it expresses the local architectural traditions and keeps them well tied with the rural environment in which they were first developed.
This project attempts to revive, through direct contact with the structures and places, the feeling of an ancient agricultural tradition, kept by the original builders and dwellers, which the ancient olive trees witnessed first hand, so to speak.
The ancient name “Casedde” is the traditional name of such constructions in the local dialect; keeping it unchanged is a commitment to revive and pass on to future generations the same feelings of belonging and traditions, and to maintain and improve the touristic value of the environment.

What makes this property unique

The house, first built in the early 1930s, is situated three kilometers away from Locorotondo, at 380 meters on sea level, in a rural environment with dry stone walls, ancient trulli, imposing oak trees and olive trees, and connected to large roads by a network of smaller roads, thus avoiding traffic noises. Local public transport is quite limited, so the use of a car to reach it is highly recommended.
Living in it is like plunging in an older, slower time, where time is kept by nature rhythms. It is arguable that the farmers living here were poorer, but likely happier, living more in harmony with the natural environment.
