These extraordinarily converted grain silos are set on the edge of an old classic farm, within walking distance of one of Suffolk’s prettiest and most renowned market towns. Imaginatively crafted by an award-winning visual artist, the two interconnecting silos display aesthetic purity, passionate attention to detail and luxurious living in the round. With a wood burner, vaulted ’domes’, curated artworks, a huge bed, remote location and set-like views, the silos are a remarkable one-off. Unique (a word frequently overused) perfectly articulates this exceptional cottage. Below an oculus-capped dome is a lovely living area with a wood burner and comfy sofas. A bespoke, gallery-style kitchen is perfect for creating and dining at home. Being re-purposed from corrugated iron, it is an unexpectedly pleasing splash-back and circular sink. A hallway connects to the sleeping quarters, with a super kingsize bed and a modern en-suite shower room.
Visitors to Framlingham can enjoy the many pubs, restaurants, independent shops and cafés right on the doorstep. This historic market town has been voted as ’one of the most desirable places to live’, as featured in the ’Country Life’ magazine, and with a perfect blend of culture, history and stunning architecture, it is easy to understand why. There are excellent networks of walks and cycle routes leading from the doorstep, meandering through the pretty Suffolk villages, both country and coastal.
Visit the National Trust owned Sutton Hoo, Dunwich and the port of Felixstowe, with its beaches and foot and bike ferry leaving from Landguard Fort to historic Harwich and Shotley. Suffolk boasts many country estates for visiting including Helmingham Hall, Crows Hall and Hevingham Hall. Nearby is Snape Maltings, which is famous for being Benjamin Britten’s concert hall. Well worth a visit are the seaside towns Aldeburgh and Southwold.
The Latitude Festival an easy car drive away and is held annually at Henham Park, together with the Constable Country villages of Dedham and East. The towns of Bury St Edmunds, Ipswich and Colchester are all within easy reach for a great day out. Nearby you can visit Framlingham Castle - the famous ‘Castle on the Hill’, Shawsgate Vineyard, Bruisyard and Helmingham Hall, along with Easton Farm Park. The coast is a short drive away, a stretch of Heritage Coastline where cycling, hiking and simply taking in the views is the perfect way to relax.
