Acerca de este alojamiento

Dial Cottage - Bakewell

Dating back to the 1600s, this deceptively spacious listed cottage is dog-friendly and sleeps 6. A private parking space nearby, an established front cottage garden & an enchanting courtyard to the rear.

A short walk takes you into Bakewell with all its wonderful shops, restaurants & cafes. If you are a lover of the outdoors, there are many walks, and Haddon Hall & Chatsworth are great places to visit.

Special rates are sometimes available for longer or midweek stays.

Our property offers the perfect blend of comfort and convenience - whether you’re here to explore the beautiful surroundings, enjoy a peaceful retreat, or spend quality time with loved ones.

Luxury, character, antiques, open fire & comfort - this is what our cottage can offer you!

You enter Dial Cottage via a small porchway where you can kick off your shoes, take off your coats and start to relax immediately.

The property then moves into the large-sized kitchen-diner that seats 8. Perfect for those family or friends gatherings.

You can also enter the charming courtyard up the stone steps and through the Alice door to the rear of the kitchen.

You can spend lovely, relaxing summer evenings sitting out in this cosy, special place, sipping your chilled glass of wine unseen.

From the kitchen, you will step down into the luxurious lounge with velvet and leather seating and be able to look at the abundance of antique furniture.

There is a quirky snug with a comfortable daybed off the lounge, which can be divided by a thick curtain. This provides a private sleeping area for one of our guests to stay.

Please note that this area has a power bank for charging iPads, smartphones, etc.

From the lounge, there are a few steps up, into the clever downstairs shower/utility room with a discreet washing machine in the cupboard unit.

Moving to the upper floor via an open staircase, there is a family bathroom with egg shaped bath and 3 bedrooms.

1 x king bedroom for 3 or 4, comprising a king bed for 2 and a day bed and pull-out bed.

1 x king bedroom for 2

1 x single bedroom for 1

1 x ground floor snug bedroom for 1 (off the living room)

All the bedrooms have been sympathetically designed to be in keeping with the rich history of Dial Cottage.

The cottage also boasts a parking space just across the road.

Guests have full access to the property and 1 x parking space. You will enter the property via a lockbox with a code.

Bakewell is jam packed with a plethora of cafes, restaurants and pubs.

There are so many public houses and sadly we have not had the time to visit them all but can give you an idea of what to expect should you decide to stay local.

Bakewell pubs

The Peacock Inn

Very focused on standard pub food. Well kept but average bitters and golden ales from the cask. Good for a quick refreshment in the sun

The Queens Arms

They don’t appear to be serving food but if it’s a quiet pint, read of the paper and a chat where you can be heard, then this simply furnished pub is for you. It seems to be a Marstons pub.

Wheatsheaf

Family friendly and dog friendly pub. Serves decent tasty food and has a varied menu from traditional pub grub to the more exotic. Reasonable prices. Welcoming staff and lots of seating options. Good beer selection. Quiz nights on a Friday.

The Red Lion

Lovely looking pub, proper traditional interior. A relaxed atmosphere and cosy bar. The tap room accepts dogs. Try to eat in the bar area rather than the restaurant for atmosphere though they will try to advise you to eat in there if you are a larger party than maybe 4. Mixed reviews on this one for food. They do hot and cold sandwiches and all the traditional pub favourites.

Well kept cask beers. Nice atmosphere, it can get slightly too busy at times- perhaps that’s why.

The Joiners Arms

Several rotated well kept cask beers, it’s good for trying new local beers and interesting craft beers. Also good choice of several keg taps. No food apart from the usual crisps and pork scratching. A friendly welcoming pub which is also very dog friendly. It’s just down the road opposite the Rutland Arms Hotel. We like this one.

The Manners

This is a Robinson’s pub and the cask beers are well kept. A very friendly helpful landlady. This pub is best known for its food. All delicious and just a bit more special than the average pub meal. We have never had to wait long and it has always been good. I hope that the chef doesn’t leave! It may be an idea to book a table for an evening meal at the weekend. It is worth the walk. Go down South Church St, turn right and keep on walking!

The Castle Inn

Just by the bridge going straight through and out of Bakewell. A Greene King Inn. Good beer and good interesting pub food. Good value for money. Served quickly. Friendly landlady. Nice outside sitting area.

Special places to eat out

These places are all really lovely and are great for dressing up and splashing out on a really special meal where the onus is on good quality delicious top notch restaurant food. Remember to book!!

The Rutland Arms Hotel, Bakewell

Beautifully decorated restaurant and fab food and only down the road. Plenty of seating.

Restaurant Lovage by Lee Smith, Bakewell

Modern British food with a laid back country feel. Very very nice - Michelin guide

Piedaniels, Bakewell

Refined French- accented cooking. Fabulous food, congenial atmosphere and real class.

Fischers, Baslow Hall

10 mins drive

Beautiful setting- an Edwardian Manor House in impressive formal grounds. Words used in reviews are superb, fabulous, fantastic and highly recommended. They do a tasting menu.

Rafters at Riverside Hotel

5 minute drive

A former shooting lodge situated on the River Wye in picturesque village of Ashford-in-the-Water. Excellent food and wine. A great place to enjoy the simple pleasures of a cracking meal after a long walk. Lovely ambience.

The Devonshire Arms, Beeley

10 minutes drive.

Located on the Chatsworth estate and owned by Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. Beautifully picturesque village of Beeley. The Devonshire Arms has the charm and character of an historic Inn full of beams and nooks and crannies but the brasserie has a startlingly modern contrast but in a good way. Lunch and evening meals are exceptional. Again, enjoy a circular walk around the estate and end up here for a special relaxed lunch perhaps or evening meal. People talk about the quality of the food. And of course the great beer.

Obviously pricier than the average pub meal but I think worth it.
