About this property

17th-Century Grade II Apartment | Heart of Tetbury

Tucked through a stone archway off Long Street, this beautifully refurbished Grade II listed 17th‑century apartment blends original character with high‑end contemporary living.

Double‑height ceilings, exposed beams, flagstone floors and a bespoke Italian kitchen create a standout base in the heart of Tetbury, one of the Cotswolds’ most celebrated market towns.

Two ensuite bedrooms, a dramatic top‑floor principal suite and a quiet private courtyard complete this unique Long Street escape.

The space
ENTRANCE You arrive through an archway off Long Street, along a private stone path into a double-height entrance hall with original flagstone floor — the kind of arrival that immediately tells you this is not a standard Cotswold holiday let. There is generous space for boots, coats, bikes and bags, with a cloakroom and utility room at the end of the corridor.

FIRST FLOOR — GUEST BEDROOM AND KITCHEN/SITTING ROOM
Off the first floor landing is the guest double bedroom, with its own ensuite (shower, basin and WC) and impressive high ceilings where the pitched roof and LED-lit beams are fully revealed. At the end of the corridor the apartment opens into the main living space: an open-plan kitchen and sitting room that manages to feel like two distinct rooms.

The fitted Italian kitchen sits on a raised platform above the lower seating area, which is centred around a gas stove and has original wooden floorboards throughout. The kitchen is equipped to a high specification: Quooker boiling water tap, Elica induction hob with integrated extractor fan, full-length integrated fridge/freezer, dishwasher, and Neff oven. Wine and champagne glasses are provided. The sitting room has views over Long Street below.

SECOND FLOOR — PRINCIPAL BEDROOM
The entire second floor is given over to the principal bedroom. The pitched, beamed ceiling fills the room with a wonderful sense of space and height — this is not a standard bedroom. The ensuite is positioned behind a feature floating wall and includes a full bath, separate shower, basin and WC.

OUTSIDE A charming private courtyard sits in front of the front door — a sheltered, characterful outdoor space perfect for a morning coffee

Guest access
The apartment is entirely self-contained with its own private entrance, accessed via the medieval archway on Long Street. Self check-in via lockbox by the front door.

Arrival instructions, including the entry code and parking details, are sent 24 hours before check-in.

Other things to note
Parking in Tetbury
The apartment doesn’t have its own dedicated parking space, but parking in Tetbury is generally straightforward once you know where to look. There is a mix of free on‑street parking and pay‑and‑display car parks, all within a short walk of the apartment.

Closest free on‑street parking
• There is usually free on‑street parking on New Church Street and the surrounding roads, roughly a 30‑second walk from the apartment. This is our first recommendation if you can find a space.
• There is also time‑limited free parking along parts of Long Street and the High Street (typically short‑stay). This is useful for pulling up to unload luggage near the archway before moving the car to a longer‑stay option.
Pay‑and‑display car parks (all within a few minutes’ walk)
• The Chippings Car Park (GL8 8ET) – Central pay‑and‑display car park near the Chipping Steps, usually under a 5‑minute walk from the apartment. Good for daytime visits; there is a maximum stay limit.
• Brewery Lane / Church Street Car Park (GL8 8LL) – Another central pay‑and‑display car park with a level 5‑minute walk into the centre. Ideal if you want to park up for the day while you explore Tetbury.
• Goods Shed / Old Railway Yard long‑stay car park (GL8 8EY) – Long‑stay parking by Tetbury Goods Shed and the Tetbury Trail, around a 5–10 minute walk from the apartment. This is a good option if you prefer to leave the car all day or overnight.

Busy times
On market days, weekends and during big local events (such as Badminton Horse Trials or festivals at the Goods Shed), Tetbury can feel busy and the central car parks may fill up. At these times we recommend heading straight for the Goods Shed / Old Railway Yard long‑stay car park, or using a parking app (such as JustPark or YourParkingSpace) to reserve a private parking space in advance.

Once you’re parked, Tetbury is very walkable – almost everything in town (shops, cafés, pubs and sights) is within 5–10 minutes on foot, so you can generally forget about the car for most of your stay.

52B Long Street is in the centre of Tetbury, one of the most appealing market towns in the southern Cotswolds. Long Street itself is lined with independent galleries, antique dealers and boutique shops — some of the best in the Cotswolds, and all within a short walk of the front door.

Tetbury's Grade I listed Market House is a five-minute walk and hosts a Wednesday market. The Goods Shed arts and music venue — with its much-loved cafe — is close by.

The famous Chipping Steps are nearby, as is St Mary's Church with its 187-foot spire. Highgrove House — the private Gloucestershire estate of King Charles and Queen Camilla — is just outside town. Highgrove Gardens are open to visitors from April to October and must be booked in advance. Westonbirt National Arboretum, home to one of the largest tree collections in the world, is 3 miles away. Castle Combe — often cited as England's prettiest village — is 12 miles south. Bath is 25 miles.

Badminton House and the annual Horse Trials are 11.5 miles by road. The Trials (held each May) are one of the great fixtures of the British equestrian calendar and one of the largest outdoor events in the country.
