Surrounding the town are several scenic walking trails that wind deeper into the Yorkshire Dales and towards the Howgill Fells. These trails are also ideal for cycling and dog walking. Further afield, popular fells include Whernside and Wild Boar, both of which are within 14 miles and offer spectacular views from their summits. Pursue caves and waterfalls with trips to Yordas Cave and the Ingleton Waterfalls Trail (both within 16 miles), while closer to home, the Lake District National Park can be reached within just 11 miles.

Before stepping into this stone-built cottage, take a moment to savour its chocolate-box exterior and the far-reaching views that set the scene for your Cumbrian escape. Head inside, kick off your walking shoes in the hallway, and move through to the social heart of the home – the open-plan living space. Chic and elegant, this restful space combines a cosy lounge with a contemporary kitchen/diner, offering the perfect spot to unwind between your days out. When stomachs rumble, you’ll find that the sleek kitchen features everything needed for cooking up holiday feasts, which you can enjoy at the breakfast bar if numbers are low, or at the formal dining table next to the bi-fold patio doors. After dinner, move over to the lounge to sink into the soft seating, flick on the Smart TV, and bask in the glow of the wood burner. When it’s time to call it a night, three lovely bedrooms are spread across the first and second floors: two doubles and a sophisticated family bathroom on the first floor, and a master king-size room set under the eaves on the second floor.
