Nestled within the beautiful North Wessex Downs, it’s an ideal base for friends and family wanting to combine rural tranquillity with days out full of discovery. One of the area’s most famous sights, the Uffington White Horse (8 miles), is well worth a visit. Carved into the hillside thousands of years ago, this striking landmark offers fantastic walking routes, picnic spots and sweeping views. The Ridgeway (14 miles) is perfect for stretching your legs along this ancient trail that winds through rolling countryside and scenic landscapes. Alternatively, head to the Vale and Downland Museum (9 miles), where interactive exhibits bring the region’s heritage to life. For a memorable day out, visit Highclere Castle (20 miles), recognisable as the home of Downton Abbey.
This renovated farm building is arranged around a sun-soaked courtyard, creating a welcoming setting for group stays. Inside, the heart of the property is a bright open-plan lounge, kitchen and dining area, where comfortable sofas and a wood burner bring warmth and character during cooler months. Food prep is easy in the well-equipped kitchen, with meals shared at the table for ten. When the day draws to a close, the bedrooms are styled in calm, soft tones to encourage a restful night’s sleep. Accommodation includes six en-suite bedrooms set up for single occupancy. Outside, there is plenty of room to make the most of fine weather. The sheltered courtyard links the property beautifully and creates a lovely spot for meals in the open air, while the large private lawn is great for BBQs, garden games, or simply basking in the sunshine.
